How about an Outlier for something other than Velo. Like control for instance. Maddux is nearly unusable on AS and below. On HOF and above, he seems much more effective but gets shelled quite often on lower difficulties. Find it odd that one of the greatest pitchers of all time is so mediocre until you reach HOF.

I like Crosley. Liked it more before they made the scoreboard a HR. Some of the NBL stadiums are good as well.
I never understood people complaing about too many HRs and yet they play their games in all these stadiums where any fly ball has a chance to leave. People used to use stadiums like Shippet due to less lag but I don't think that is much of an issue any longer.

I’ve got all of them complete. But I often ask myself why I bother as set 3 rolls around. I’m sure SDS is laughing at me ( and the other fools like me).
Probably be a set towards the end of the season that either requires cards from each set or requires the rewards from each set.

Before I begin - I understand this will never happen. SDS loves outlier & continues to only increase it’s effectiveness every year. Next year’s game you’ll probably be able to hit 108 regularly lol. This post is simply asking the question “What if?”
Last year Madden removed Escape Artist as an ability & by all accounts it drastically improved the game (the game is still garbage but this was a big improvement). I feel that outlier is the same as escape artist in that it is a crutch quirk for people that can’t pitch well…Would removing it from the game improve the online gameplay? My opinion is yes. What are your thoughts?
Why would they? We have pitchers out there who regularly are hitting triple digits. At least this year not every pitch is 102 mph. It’s much more realistic this year than in years past. I’ve seen Randy Johnson throwing between 97-103 this year whereas in years past it was 102 every pitch with his fastball. My guess is you need to practice to recognize the pitch at the release point. Just guessing with good players is only going to frustrate you.
In contrast, in years past, you only had a few pitchers throwing that hard. There are far more pitchers this year hitting triple digits regularly.

@maurice91932_PSN said in This game is too hard:
If a pitcher irl gets 12 strikeouts in a game, he’s going to get a Topps Now Moment and a five day supercharge. In RS 12 strikeouts happens every game. But people are going to say nothing is wrong?
This is a good point. I never thought about it along this line.
Granted I am in my 50s and losing my vision due to some shrapnel so I struggle to hit on a good day. I know that eventually I will be forced to use Directional. However, given all that, I am still about 20 games over .500 record wise.
I've been playing for many years and have only made WS twice so I know the "struggle".
I still enjoy playing though and I'm not certain I would want to be as good as some people are. Hitting HR after HR like some do and rarely ever losing is probably a lot like grinding stats on Rookie fir them. I'd like to be a little better and maybe make WS a bit more often but I still have fun for now.

To really improve the game, SDS needs to do away with the 125 attributes. I understand some of these cards are based on the individual player's best season but it has gotten WAY out of hand. Instead of basing a card on a player's best single season, use an aggregate of their best 3 or 5 seasons. If you want to keep the 125 attribute that's fine but only a handful of cards should have a attribute of 100 and above. Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, etc..are players who merit a high attribute rating. Ji-Man Choi should NEVER have 116 contact & 115 power. The game has become very watered down with cards carrying highly unrealistic attribute ratings IMO.

I play on wifi and haven't had a single connection issue or freeze off all year. I must have direct access to the top secret SDS connection that works.
Was thinking the same thing. I've been running Fibre Optic for about the last month and just regular old wired internet prior and while I occasionally had a disconnect or some other issue, it was nearly ALWAYS on my end.
I've been playing this game online since the feature debuted and can say with 100% honesty, the very few connection issues I have encountered have almost always been on my end, and I play a LOT given I can play from work as well as at home. I guess I must be on that "Super Secret Server" reserved for aging below average players. BTW, a Cat6 cable isn't going to make some huge difference in game play over a Cat5 as it deals more with capacity/load than speed.
-
Granted, I usually only play enough Event to grab one or two of the rewards, i.e. flashback & the first new one, but I gotta say they are a total SS. It is nothing but HR derby. There is nowhere to pitch anyone without giving up bomb after bomb. I suck at hitting and still hitting multiple HRs a game.
I get the "Moonshot" event being like that because you're facing common pitchers but I'd venture to say this event is just as bad using relatively high end pitchers.
I give SDS credit when due but compared to Event games in 16', 17', they have taken a giant step back in regards to competitive online play
-
I wouldn't go so far as to say the game is "trash" or "completely unplayable". However, there are some issues that have been going on since launch and are still not fixed. In years past, SDS had been relatively responsive to the issues reported by players but that doesn't seem to be the case this year.
The teleporting pitch is still occurring and that has been reported multiple times since release.

@EzMack_NSW said in Sell Set 1?:
Big collections later on might be hard to conquer if you sell everything ️
This is what will happen. People are gonna sell their Set 1 cards, prices will hit rock bottom and then there will be a big final set that includes a lot from each set and everyone who sold will be scrambling and paying very high prices. Never fails with SDS & collections. Cards that were selling for 10K will be ridiculously priced then. I'm gonna hang on to what I have. Not like it's hurting anything to keep em.
-
This has been going on since release. Some pitchers seem to have it happen more often than others for me. Vida has it happen at least 5 times a game it seems. Thought for sure SDS would have at least fixed that issue.
Always happens at the most inopportune moment too. Perfect release and BOOM, meatball down the middle!

@Sarge1387_PSN said in Sds is worse that EA:
Look, SDS isn’t exactly consumer friendly I think we can all agree on that, but I do t think you've played enough EA titles to understand just how terrible they are. They’ve been sued a couple times over “loot box gambling”, and their tendency to use “ice tilt/DDA” to to screw people out of wins especially when overmatching an opponent.
Does SDS have a rubberbanding issue in games? For sure. Scripting? No. They also at least make attempts to look at and implement what their player base is asking for. Sometimes it just takes WAY longer than it should, or it just blows up in their face(IE non sellable rewards, massive L).
EA goes “we listened, but we did what we wanted anyways even though it made the game worse”
The Non sellable rewards is probably my biggest gripe. I get the flawless & WS rewards for completing the program. I don't like it, but I understand. Doing it for so many other rewards is a bit much though IMO. The increased exchange requirements for programs was a big stub making killer IMO as well. I used to hang on to as many high silvers as I could get and then sell after a new program dropped and make a killing. With the exchange requirements being increased so much, not many players are doing the exchanges.

@IrishFist412_MLBTS said in 99's day one (if you buy stubs):
The Chase cards are literally the only ones behind a pay wall lol…So because 3 or 4 cards are that way you think the game is pay to win?
And I would argue that every Diamond Duo pack is a paywall. Yes you can earn those packs for free in programs but let's be honest and admit that the overwhelming majority of players will never earn any 99's from those packs. The odds are not in our favor. For those of us who have not been lucky the only way to get them is with a, usually significant, outlay of stubs.
Using pack luck as a argument against something being a paywall is a pretty weak argument in my opinion.
Forty Four 99 overall diamonds released so far in Diamond Duo packs is more than 3 or 4 cards. You may think that people are exaggerating the issue and that is fine but exaggerating your position to counter them is no different.
Of course maybe in the end we all have varying definitions of what exactly a pay wall is.
I was off for just about 2 months when MLB dropped. Played like crazy finishing both TA programs very quickly and reaching the free spin very quickly. I have gotten countless Diamond Duo packs and have yet to pull a Diamond of any kind from them. Not a 99 nor an 85. I keep waiting thinking the next one will be the one but nada.
I have had good pack luck this year though. Pulled Trout on release, WBC 99 Ohtani, 99 Darvish, Mantle, etc... just never from a Duo pack.

I think the complaints are a little extreme. I’ve been able to get any card I’ve wanted and still have 700k saved without spending any money on stubs. And I have multiple boss packs just sitting in my inventory that could be sold.
I feel like the people who are really complaining are either bad at saving stubs or think they should be able to have every card in the game without winning or doing much.
I think it’s good it’s a little tougher to get every card. Previous years you could pretty much get any card with less than an hour of grinding. I think that’s a big reason why a lot of people quit playing in July. No challenge, nothing to work towards.
Flipping?
Not at all. Just sell what I get out of packs and play the game. Ranked, conquest, and mini seasons.
You must have AMAZING pack luck.

Gotta agree that created stadiums with crazy high elevation & short porches should not be allowed in RS.
I could have sworn that wasn't allowed when create a stadium was introduced but I may be wrong.
I will take it one step further. NO created stadiums or players should be allowed in online play. a significant number of players use them for toxic purposes.
I don't mind being able to use a created position player. When you take in to consideration of how "jacked" SDS makes some of these 99 OVR cards with 125 across the board, a created player is usually the lesser of 2 evils so to speak. Where I do agree is a created pitcher. They take the weirdest sidearm/submariner motion they can find and have him throwing 103mph cutters, sinkers, and an 70mph change. If someone wants to use that in whatever fantasy league they play, knock yourself out but no way should that be in a competitive mode game like RS.
Of course everyone who uses one will argue against not being able to use it but that's just my opinion. However, that, as well as CAPs have become more rare in my experience as I don't recall having played many people using them.
The created stadiums with the short porches need to go though.

They are in a Mini Season lineup. Check those.

I did a bunch of little equipment collections like collect 10 bats, collect 5 fielding gloves, etc.. and wound up with a bunch of free packs. Got a Chase pack and pulled him. Still shocked.
