To really improve the game, SDS needs to do away with the 125 attributes. I understand some of these cards are based on the individual player's best season but it has gotten WAY out of hand. Instead of basing a card on a player's best single season, use an aggregate of their best 3 or 5 seasons. If you want to keep the 125 attribute that's fine but only a handful of cards should have a attribute of 100 and above. Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, etc..are players who merit a high attribute rating. Ji-Man Choi should NEVER have 116 contact & 115 power. The game has become very watered down with cards carrying highly unrealistic attribute ratings IMO.

Granted, I usually only play enough Event to grab one or two of the rewards, i.e. flashback & the first new one, but I gotta say they are a total SS. It is nothing but HR derby. There is nowhere to pitch anyone without giving up bomb after bomb. I suck at hitting and still hitting multiple HRs a game.
I get the "Moonshot" event being like that because you're facing common pitchers but I'd venture to say this event is just as bad using relatively high end pitchers.
I give SDS credit when due but compared to Event games in 16', 17', they have taken a giant step back in regards to competitive online play

Got crazy lucky with a free pack for doing small equipment collections like 5 Gloves, 10 bats, 3 shin guards, etc... and got a Chase pack with Mickey.
I about fell out of my chair.

@maurice91932_PSN said in This game is too hard:
If a pitcher irl gets 12 strikeouts in a game, he’s going to get a Topps Now Moment and a five day supercharge. In RS 12 strikeouts happens every game. But people are going to say nothing is wrong?
This is a good point. I never thought about it along this line.
Granted I am in my 50s and losing my vision due to some shrapnel so I struggle to hit on a good day. I know that eventually I will be forced to use Directional. However, given all that, I am still about 20 games over .500 record wise.
I've been playing for many years and have only made WS twice so I know the "struggle".
I still enjoy playing though and I'm not certain I would want to be as good as some people are. Hitting HR after HR like some do and rarely ever losing is probably a lot like grinding stats on Rookie fir them. I'd like to be a little better and maybe make WS a bit more often but I still have fun for now.
-
It may be because I've played the game for so many years but I honestly feel like they have one of the more streamlined UI.
I mean "Inventory", "Online Play", "Single Player", "Marketplace", "Programs", etc... all seem fairly straightforward and self explanatory IMO.
-
I have no issue with records being displayed. However, I would like to see a record and stat reset with each new season.

I have played this game for many years. As an older player with a disability (losing my eyesight due to shrapnel), my hand eye coordination has taken a turn for the worse. For clarification, I spend most of the year in the Division rank in RS but have made WS a few times over the years and I am ok with that. It is what it is at my age.
During that time, I have played many WS players as well as a few elite level players and while the wins may have been few and far between in those match ups, I have for the most part, always been able to hold my own and had never been mercied. Until today.
I matched up with a player in the 600s if memory serves. I jumped out to 1-0 lead after one. The second inning came off the rails and this guy literally hit EVERYTHING I threw no matter where I threw it. Never before had I been hit so thoroughly. Sinkers high, low, a foot outside it didn't matter. Cutters a foot inside, sliders in the dirt, fastballs a foot high, or splitters down and out made no difference as he hit them all.
I don't know if he was using zone, directional or what but whatever he was doing was working.
Hands down one of the most dominant displays of hitting I have encountered. I looked through his game history and most of his games were close affairs so I'm not sure what changed to become the hitting master he was in my game but I definitely recommend he continue.

Nothing but a bunch of boot licking trolls here and this always has been it’s a real shame maybe the worst online community on any games official forums. Absolutely no civility and it’s just loaded with confirmation bias to an extreme. The online has always been of very questionable quality and the way SDS handles it much like they moderate their forums is just lazy.
How should they moderate the forums? Sounds like you’re “one of them” that thinks if they don’t share your opinions then they shouldn’t have a voice and should be canceled.
Lol you guys drown out anyone who doesn’t have the same groupthink as the rest of you who lurk here 24/7 year in and year out invalidating any complaint somebody has about the games.
I mean you’re piling on for the sake of what? Do you feel your comments here contribute in any way to the post Op made? Or is it a bunch of childish behavior ? I would certainly say the latter. I think a lot of people here need to reflect on how they post and if you’re post is nothing of substance it’s just trolling.
Lol you’ve been lurking and quit whining
And another example of this behavior thanks
What behavior you being held accountable
The behavior I posted about and you quoted. My posts are complaints yours are nothing but belittling people. Can you explain to me how your post contributes to the ops comment or mine? It’s this childish toxic behavior that’s prevalent online and here.
A valid complaint is one thing. The issue with the "invalid lineup" in mini seasons is a valid complaint. The "cool down" for freeze offs is a valid complaint.
Posting multiple times daily, like the OP does, about your opponent getting a hit on a late swing or your "perfect/perfect" being a line out and then stating that that is why you lost is not a valid complaint. This is why the OP catches so much grief.

The pause timer doesn't expire after 46 seconds. Seems like you may be leaving some information out of your tale.
Nope, I said 45 seconds because that was my only pause of the game.
This is the classic "glitch" where somehow/someway when an opponent pauses..if you also pause, stand on your head, pick your nose and eat it, throw salt behind your back, disconnect your wifi for 2 seconds and plug it back in, whatever, etc. you can effectively make the server think your opponent disconnected. I really don't care to know the exact details (I'll never do it) I just think it's a no-gainer and not worth looking like a frickin cheat over.
It's been a thing for years.
Hmm, been playing online since 16 and seen many "glitches" over the years but never encountered this glitch you speak of.

Haha congrats man! I just accepted that 800 is the best I can really ever hope for. Stringing together those wins to reach 900 just never really comes together for me. Maybe you've given me some new hope!
You can do it brother! I'm old and losing my vision (due to a shrapnel injury, not old age) and while it is a struggle, I've made it a few times over the years. If I can manage it, anyone can!
-
Congratulations. I'm an older player (50+) and have been able to reach the plateau a few times over the years. It wasn't easy by any stretch, especially when dealing with vision loss but it makes it more enjoyable.

Withh a few exceptions, the difficulty you play on will effect the answer.

I got lucky and pulled him tonight. Haven't had a chance to use him in a RS game yet but I suck with everyone so I'm sure he'll be no different!!

@Firestormx_MLBTS said in Ranked and BR Change Explanation:
I find the explanation infuriating for the change to Ranked and BR. More snobbish elitism. The basic answer is only those who go 12-0 or make 900 should have stubs. Nobody else is allowed only the 1% is allowed to get richer in stubs. The program is not cost-efficient enough for an average to causal player to do the program. You lose too many stubs with 100 million stubs per attempt cost to enter the BR Program. The stupid pack you get for each entry gives about 150-250 stubs back normally max. This explanation will not help anything but will further divide between snobbish elites and everyone else. Even if those who go 12-0 or make 900 are not snobbish elites, that is the impression. Taking away from those in the middle to bottom to cater to those at the very top seldom goes over well. Take away the ability for anyone to sell or reverse this decision is the only fair answer.

https://theshow.com/news/game23-update-7/You know it's real easy to flip stubbs. Prolly could have made 10k by the time it took you to write this.
Flipping isn't nearly as easy as it used to be. The new quick sell prices have tightened all the margins to the point where it actually takes an effort.
I used to make a killing selling silvers right after a new program with exchange options would drop. SDS killed that with the increased exchange requirements. Instead of doing easy exchanges, players are now just doing all the repeatable missions like MTO, and mini, which, is the smart way to do do it but the extreme shift in the exchange requirements ruined that stub making method as well.
I'm doing just fine, I've made ~5M stubbs. Mainly by investing in the right non-live series cards. The point is rather than spending all the effort in complaining, that effort could be put to better use which would get the OP closer to his goal. In this case, making stubbs to buy a BR reward.
I never stated that flipping cards and building a bank could not be done, because it can. However, that does not change the fact that regardless of whatever over inflated number you throw out, SDS has made a concerted effort to make it more difficult than in years past. The fact that you made your bank by flipping "select non LS cards" validates the point.
In years prior, a player could build a substantial bank off silver & gold cards with minimal starting capital, effort, or thought put in to the process. Those days are gone and SDS is continuing their effort to make it more difficult by making not just BR & WS program rewards non sellable (which I am fine with BTW) but making many "run of the mill" rewards non sellable as well.
As far as the OP's complaint, if no one speaks out, nothing ever changes. I would rather read a complaint like his as opposed to someone posting about how "this game sucks because their perfect/perfect was a lineout to the wall and their opponent won the game on a late bloop to RF."

@EzMack_NSW said in Sell Set 1?:
Big collections later on might be hard to conquer if you sell everything ️
This is what will happen. People are gonna sell their Set 1 cards, prices will hit rock bottom and then there will be a big final set that includes a lot from each set and everyone who sold will be scrambling and paying very high prices. Never fails with SDS & collections. Cards that were selling for 10K will be ridiculously priced then. I'm gonna hang on to what I have. Not like it's hurting anything to keep em.

@Pergo_MLBTS said in In game report what's the point?:
I play on wifi and haven't had a single connection issue or freeze off all year. I must have direct access to the top secret SDS connection that works.
Was thinking the same thing. I've been running Fibre Optic for about the last month and just regular old wired internet prior and while I occasionally had a disconnect or some other issue, it was nearly ALWAYS on my end.
I've been playing this game online since the feature debuted and can say with 100% honesty, the very few connection issues I have encountered have almost always been on my end, and I play a LOT given I can play from work as well as at home. I guess I must be on that "Super Secret Server" reserved for aging below average players. BTW, a Cat6 cable isn't going to make some huge difference in game play over a Cat5 as it deals more with capacity/load than speed.

@IrishFist412_MLBTS said in Would removing Outlier improve the game?:
Before I begin - I understand this will never happen. SDS loves outlier & continues to only increase it’s effectiveness every year. Next year’s game you’ll probably be able to hit 108 regularly lol. This post is simply asking the question “What if?”
Last year Madden removed Escape Artist as an ability & by all accounts it drastically improved the game (the game is still garbage but this was a big improvement). I feel that outlier is the same as escape artist in that it is a crutch quirk for people that can’t pitch well…Would removing it from the game improve the online gameplay? My opinion is yes. What are your thoughts?
Why would they? We have pitchers out there who regularly are hitting triple digits. At least this year not every pitch is 102 mph. It’s much more realistic this year than in years past. I’ve seen Randy Johnson throwing between 97-103 this year whereas in years past it was 102 every pitch with his fastball. My guess is you need to practice to recognize the pitch at the release point. Just guessing with good players is only going to frustrate you.
In contrast, in years past, you only had a few pitchers throwing that hard. There are far more pitchers this year hitting triple digits regularly.

Just curious if anyone has used the new PS5 controller with the button mapping, trigger and stick settings.
Spoke with someone earlier who said they were using It and raved about how much it has helped him.
Call me skeptical but I thought I'd get some more thoughts and input from anyone else who may be using one. Not looking to buy one as 200$ is a bit too much for a controller IMO but still curious about the capabilities and how it lends itself to improved game play in MLBTS.
Thanks in advance.
I use the new Edge controller and I will say it’s helped me some but I’ve benefited from the controller more in FPS games like COD than I do on MLB The Show. I think the biggest thing for me is the ability to adjust and customize your controller joystick movements which in turn has helped me with PCI movement during batting. Outside of that there really is no major upside for the extra buttons for me personally. I also use meter pitching so I don’t use my joysticks for that, only batting and to go after balls on defense so not sure how that would help with pinpoint pitching.
If you’re going to spend the money on this controller (or any custom controller) I’d make sure you have a few other games you can use it for as well to get your moneys worth.
Thanks for your thoughts. I honestly thought it may help to some degree with hitting but didn't see much more application for it on MLBTS. However, as I do not own one, I wanted to hear from those that are using it. Thanks again!
