I read on OS that there is a bug to cause it to only start working halfway through the year or something.

They need numbers to determine results when simmed and even what happens when we actually play (ie hit distance or plate discipline or pitch accuracy), wouldn't they just be the same numbers anyway?
-
@GoozeFn_PSN because they are too easily acquired - the most desirable ones need to be rare so that people have to give up either an obscene amount of money (buying stubs to buy on the marketplace or buy packs in hope) or an obscene amount of time (grind grind grind) to attain them.
That’s my interpretation of it anyway. Like I said, I don’t DD so I’m standing on the outside looking in.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN yeah my bad I misinterpreted. I didn’t even acknowledge your opening statement where you gave Storylines credit. My apologies.
I can see where you’re coming from, but not all cards are created to be used by the masses.
There are hundreds of cards in the game and there will be people who choose all sorts of cards for their own reasons. I’m not into DD at all, but I expect sometimes those reasons will be dictated by SDS (is this how events works?).
But also sometimes those reasons will be user-centric (eg if I played DD then David Wright would be my permanent 3rd baseman). Or some people will be using the Storylines rewards for getting the P5 status or whatever it is.
So I wouldn’t call the cards a failure.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN The core purpose of Storylines The Negro Leagues is not the cards. They are just the ‘thanks for taking the time to educate yourself about the history of baseball’ gratuity. Many players wouldn’t take the time without some kind of extrinsic carrot.
If anything, what they’ve done with Storylines is the complete opposite of a fail. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s their most successful non-financial business goal in 20 years of The Show.

“ being a Phillies fan you’d be burned at the steak”Nice! Snuck in the best pun I’ve ever seen on this forum
Well done

@Demadrio_PSN have you tried pressing R2? On higher difficulties you have to ‘ask’ for it. On lower it’s there by default.

@sbchamps17_NSW see post from @bri_25_PSN above

@GoozeFn_PSN regression/progression, injuries, energy, divisions, draft, off season, budgets, proper trades, prospects and minor league players, probably some other stuff that I’ve forgotten
-
It was in the gameplay stream not the franchise one
-
@SaveFarris_PSN In this context @bri_25's post reads as 'some people' rather than claiming 'most' or 'all' people. As in there are people who want online franchise. I reckon the statement has merit here, especially given that Ashley addressed it specifically in the stream in response to all of the questions in the chat.

@REDRZA_MLBTS I agree with you there - if user experience was the #1 goal then no doubt that's what would be happening -- they would pull out all stops to make the game the best it can be.
As you've alluded to, unfortunately the #1 goal is profit. The reality is that the changes that would significantly enhance the user experience would not result in an increase in profit. Therefore we get incremental improvements and headline features that are not built upon in the next year (specifically leagues and stadium creator).
It's not the fault of the devs. I've no doubt they want to make the game the best it can be. Their passion is evident. It's awesome hearing people like Chris and Kirby and Luis talk about the game on the streams. But at the end of the day they aren't the ones in charge of what gets prioritised. They have to answer to ownership (and God).
-
@REDRZA_MLBTS building an annualised game from the ground up is a risk; you have to strip it right back and not everything makes it back in, at least not in the first few iterations.
Look at what happened to the commentary starting from TS22. We’re still only about 1/4 of the way towards the variety of lines there was in the previous 10 years, with the exception of the dynamic stats commentary of Singo’s.
-
Will fielding opportunities set to ‘All’ result in all fielding opportunities being playable? Because it skips a lot. eg I played a game yesterday as 1B and was involved in one fielding play for the whole game. In the game log there were at least eight more, including double plays.
-
The catcher stuff seems pretty solid
-
Given that there are only a few high school and college games total, amateur ‘years’ might be more aptly named amateur minutes. We’ll see what impact it has I guess.

Anybody notice that the Manager menu in the livestream has a scroll bar?
Might be some new options.
See YouTube stream clip at 1:19:33.
-
@Dolenz64_XBL you’re in luck, this year they are doing both live and prerecorded
-
Are you referring to what you saw in the stream? There are a whole bunch of factors that could have resulted in the stuttering - the least of which would have been the gameplay.
-
@Sarge1387_PSN I’m curious, Chris mentioned in the post feature premiere live part that Ambush was different to guess pitch because you don’t get the feedback about whether you were right or not before the ball gets to you. I’m still not convinced. Guess pitch had a no feedback option, essentially making it the same.
The problem was though, it didn’t work in the last three or four years of the game. It still gave feedback when you got it right.
Maybe that wasn’t a bug after all, perhaps it was all part of the plan.
