Yeah it’s odd man. I think I’m being bogged down purposely now. I was like 12-2 in online rated and absolutely crushing then next 2 games I’m either getting good contact and weak results like ground outs or I’m getting perfects that are just east pop flies. I just don’t get it…

And I believe this exact thing happened to me earlier today when you and I faced each other. And I entered the game 18 - 0.

You’re a good player too, so I’m not saying I would’ve won. But it felt like I was playing with a whiffle ball bat all game (with the exception of one swing).

I never thought I would ever start a post discussing a game’s soundtrack, because on the surface it seems inconsequential to the quality or lack thereof of a game. But baseball is a unique sport, and music plays an integral part of the overall experience.

Like all previous versions, it’s a smorgasbord of musical genres that includes a few of which I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards; and yet, I like those too because every single song evokes the spirit and feeling I get of being at a ballpark.

Whether it be songs I could see MLB stadiums playing as their teams take the field for the first time (Lights by Band of Horses, among other), or just general background music filling the stadium as you walk along the concourse thirty minutes before the first pitch.

Compiling a list of songs across multiple musical styles that all capture the essence of the sport is no easy feat. But in my opinion they absolutely nailed it this year.

I think we’ve seen this movie before in the 2000 baseball season when the Texas Rangers signed Alex Rodriguez to join a lineup that already contained Rafael Palmeiro and Ivan Rodriguez, among others. And the end result suggests that you aren’t going very far if you can’t get anyone out.

After all, there’s only so many 10 - 9 games you can win.

I feel your pain, dude; it’s a joke. And it especially sucks when you’re on a double digit game winning streak and you see you’ve just been matched up with one of these clowns.

Regarding their motivations, who knows? But they’re most likely the kinds of people who would cheat on a test and then brag to others about how well they done.

I think the bigger issue here is that any kind of freeze off is not an organic occurrence. It is man made and intentionally created by your opponent every single time.

There are times when the game freezes momentarily, but then you get that lost connection with your opponent message on the screen, and more times than not that means your opponent has shut down the game and you get the win.

But if you ever find yourself in one of those aforementioned freeze offs, chances are your opponent will wait forever until you give in because that’s how he gets his wins. And he almost certainly has another PS5 that he’s playing on while you wait. It’s sad but true. Maybe someday something will actually be done about that.

Why are players like Tim Anderson still not on the roster for online rated games? If you play an exhibition game (live rosters), he’s there. And the reason he’s there is he’s been back on the team from day one of the game’s launch. That’s right. He’s played in every game since MLB The Show 21 was launched for early access. So what gives?

We’re told roster updates happen every Friday. And how hard can it be to add a player back if he’s already playable in your live roster exhibition games?

Thanks Iceman. It’s not like a premier leadoff guy who’s also a prior batting champion is very important to a lineup.

How does a player like Tim Anderson, who was only on the injured list for a week and returned to action on April 15th, get eliminated from your “live rosters”? He was off the injured list and playing in games when the four day early release took place on April 16th. So, what gives?

But don’t you just hate those clowns who will taunt you all game with their bunt dance and other shenanigans, but have their personal settings set to private so you can’t message them? That has got to be the definition of a coward.

If someone can show me a clip of a runner tagging up from third base on a fly ball to the outfield, and getting thrown out at the plate by a CUTOFF man (two throws), I’ll eat my words.

The clip is of Altuve getting thrown out on a relay after advancing several bases.

The problem is it’s at the expense of producing a quality product, and as baseball fans we have nowhere else to go. And this is specifically why monopolies are suppose to be illegal.

Would we encounter the same problems year after year if there was a viable alternative in the marketplace? Probably not. And some things have seemingly gotten worse; like fielding, for instance.

But hey, we can now press any button to advance from the main menu, and not just the start button exclusively. Whoa!

Change is slow over at SDS. We still can’t change uniforms in online games, the fielding still sucks, etc, etc, etc,.
