    The Inconsistency of G.O.A.T. Batting

    @genopolanco_PSN

As much as I would love to stay on G.O.A.T. I just can’t make it work.

Fair play to the people who can have success on that difficulty, I don’t think I’ll be one of them haha!

    @genopolanco_PSN

I think I’ve decided I’m just going back to Legend.

I’ve gone back down and done -1 solid hits to try and get more flyouts etc.

It seems to be working so far, if it gets too easy I’ll just keep lowering the solid hits slider and hope it balances it out somewhere.

I’m still striking out but much more sporadically rather than every single game.

  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

    @genopolanco_PSN

On G.O.A.T. the problem is striking out way too much.

I can get hits and generally have an AVG of around .250 which is fine but then I strikeout so much its like every AB is either a hit or a strikeout and there’s nothing inbetween.

No ground balls, no flyouts, no pop ups just success or embarrassment.

My last season I almost broke the record for most strikeouts in a season and that was only on half a year of G.O.A.T. difficulty after moving it up because I was finding it too easy on Legend.

If I do a full season on G.O.A.T. I’m easily looking at 300+ strikeouts by the end of the season.

Another thing I wish SDS would bin off is hot streaks. I don’t mind the little fire symbol being there to show that you’re doing well but I wish it didn’t boost your hitting stats.

If I could do a whole season on Legend without the hot streak boost it would be fine, but the problem is it makes hitting too easy after I have already found my level and then because it’s easy I keep hitting like a beast and the hot streak never ends so i essentially spend the majority of the season with boosted hitting stats when I dont want them.

@genopolanco_PSN I’ve been messing around with sliders for hours and still can’t find a balance.

I’ve even put the difficulty back down to Legend and it’s still the same. I’ve lost all ability to read the pitch out of the hand and get hits.

I legit can’t play this game anymore. Messing with settings and sliders has just killed it for me.

Screw this, no sports game should be this much hassle and stress to try and get a realistic experience out of.

Absolutely fuming that my 9 year career is dead because SDS either has you hitting like a baseball God or swinging at air like a toddler with a breadstick and can’t land on anything inbetween.

Thanks for your help and advice anyway, I hope they get better at balancing the game’s difficulty in future editions.

@genopolanco_PSN So how am i supposed to find that perfect balance?

I cant move the difficulty down because it makes it too easy but boosting my stats has the same effect.

I don’t like messing with sliders, it seems like adding a new variable to an already complex mess and it feels like cheating.

Why can’t SDS just make a difficulty that’s realistic to the average real life pro rather than only being able to be an overpowered, unrealistic monster or a pathetic, embarrassing swing and misser?

  • The Inconsistency of G.O.A.T. Batting
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

@genopolanco_PSN Do you think increasing my contact skills would help? My contact is currently all at 80 but I don’t want to push it up too much and start smashing everything easily again

My plate vision stat is 90 but when I move it up to 91 hitting feels too easy again so I feel like the same thing will happen if I boost my contact even by a fraction.

  • The Inconsistency of G.O.A.T. Batting
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

I recently had to move my batting difficulty up to G.O.A.T. because I was finding Legend too easy. I want my career to be a challenge and realistic, I don’t want to just be scooping every award in sight every year, it was fun for the first few years but now I’m looking to test myself at the top level.

Oh my goodness, this difficulty is infuriatingly inconsistent. I’m either getting 4 strikeouts a game or 4 hits a game and nothing in between.
I rarely ever get groundouts, popups or flyouts. It’s either the best game of my life or an absolute embarrassment.

Why can’t I find a good balance of difficulty? I like the challenge of G.O.A.T. but it’s sending my strikeout record into oblivion.

There are two types of game and the difference in pitch velocity between the two is incredibly obvious even though the pitch types and speed may be exactly the same according to the stats they definitely are NOT.

I can tell when a game is going to give me 4 strikeouts by the first few pitches of the first AB because they are usually fastballs that are physically impossible to catch up to and the only way you hit them is if you guess and get lucky. Nothing to do with skill or practice and it’s just ridiculous.

I can’t go back down to Legend but I also don’t feel like I’m getting any better on G.O.A.T. It just feels like every game is the flip of a coin and I’m fed up of getting 3-4 strikeout games, facing pitches that only a bot could reasonably react to.

  • Have They Made It Easier To Win The World Series?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

@tedlanc_XBL See that’s what was happening to me in 25, no matter what team I played for across multiple careers, we would smash it in the regular season and then fall at the first hurdle in the postseason.

That’s why I’m so surprised that this year it’s like I don’t even have to try that hard to win a WS.

  • Have They Made It Easier To Win The World Series?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

I’ve just finished my 7th season on my RTTS career and have just won my 4th WS.

I won 3 back-to-back with the Dbacks, then reached FA and signed for the A’s and won another 1 straight away in my first season.

The Show games I’ve played before are 14, 15, 16, 17 and 25 and I would be incredibly lucky if I even won 1 WS across an entire career.

In those 5 previous games I had about 9 different careers and won 3 WS but all 3 were in separate careers meaning I would only win a WS once in every 3 careers.

Did SDS make it easier to win it in this year’s game or I have I just been incredibly lucky? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

For context the most recent WS I was playing on Legend batting difficulty so it’s not like I’m smashing 3 grand slams every game to power my teams to the win. In fact for at least 2 of the WS wins I was largely unproductive in the postseason.

  • Legend Hitting Has Ruined HOF For Me
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

I was absolutely crushing it on HOF so I moved the difficulty up to Legend but was doing really poorly so I decided to go back down to HOF but now I can’t hit on that either.

What has happened? Why has Legend ruined my ability to get hits on a lower difficulty that was previously very easy for me?

How do I get my ability back?

  • What team selected you?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

I got drafted first round by the Dbacks and made 4 WS in 6 seasons and won 3 of them back to back.

I’ve now reached FA and signed with the A’s.

  • Is It Just Me Or Is Hitting Way Easier This Year?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

@WoozyPolarBear_MLBTS On last year’s game I could only hit on HOF with all my hitting stats at 99.

Now I can get by on Legend with all my hitting stats on 80.

Maybe I just got better since last year, I dunno.

  • Is It Just Me Or Is Hitting Way Easier This Year?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

@scheker1980_PSN So I’ve just started season number 7 and I’ve bumped up the difficulty to Legend and it seems a lot more realistic. I am getting hits but I typically have to sit on off speed because fastballs are really hard to react to. I’m batting around .270 but I’m not getting many HRs or RBIs and I’m also striking out a lot. I might try very delicately upgrading my hitting stats until I find a good balance point but don’t want to go too far and make it too easy again.

  • Is It Just Me Or Is Hitting Way Easier This Year?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

I’m into my 6th season as a left fielder and I usually up the difficulty for batting as my career progresses (rookie when I’m a rookie, all-star when I make the all star team etc, etc)

But this year I’ve had to put it up to hall of fame fairly early in my career and most of the time it’s still way too easy.

My power and contact stats are all exactly 80 but I’m still in triple crown territory and I’ve just won 3 WS back to back with the Diamondbacks.

I’m going to have to put it up to legend difficulty for more realism but on last year’s game hall of fame was the perfect balance for me and legend was [censored] near impossible and that was with all my hitting stats maxed out.

Anyone else finding it way easier this year?

  • The Constant 9th Inning Comebacks Ruin RTTS
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

Tired of helping my team rack up runs throughout a game only to get to the bottom of the 9th and watch the opposition get exactly the same amount of runs as my team +1 to win the game.

It’s so predictable and honestly boring at this point. It happens whichever team I play for and makes me wonder if there’s any point in playing this game mode.

SDS can’t be surprised that people constantly accuse this game of scripting and predetermined outcomes when BS like this happens constantly.

  • If This Is Unfixable I’m Done With This Game
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

In the second season of my RTTS career and I’ve just reached the WS but every time I go to play game 1 I get stuck in a loop on the perk unlocked screen where it just keeps saying I’ve unlocked the same perk over and over again and I can’t advance.

I have tried quitting the game and restarting again and it doesn’t make a difference.

The annoying thing is I don’t even use the perk system in RTTS and it’s stopping me from advancing.

Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it? If it’s broken and I have to start a new career I’m honestly never playing MLBTS again, it’s taken me so long to get to a WS…

  • Hitting Difficulty Levels Are Broken
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

Playing RTTS and have just bumped up to HOF hitting because I broke the single season HR record on AS and everything was too easy.

    Oh. My. God.

HOF is just an absolute joke and the difficulty increase affects your game in dumb ways.

    1. Everything becomes a flyout.

    2. Pitchers constantly get the call on pitches that are not even in the zone so being patient and laying off bad pitches is not rewarded, it’s punished. (THIS IS NOT INCREASING DIFFICULTY IT’S JUST STRAIGHT UP CHEATING).

    3. Pitchers just spamming 98mph fastballs high and in which the only way they are possible to hit is to just guess and get lucky. I refuse to believe anyone can actually react to fastballs on this difficulty unless they are on some reaction time affecting substance. Like seriously, how is there any time to react.

I’m not buying 26 unless they sort this [censored] out. Absolutely ridiculous that on one difficulty you can unrealistically break records and on the next difficulty up I’m striking out 3 times every game and pitchers are just god mode unstoppable robots who get everything their way and have too much power.

    Trash game.

  • Should I Keep Playing RTTS?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

@PriorFir4383355_XBL This is the first MLBTS game I have played since 2017 and I’ve never known it like this. I always used to win at least 1 WS back in the day. Now it just seems the game goes above and beyond to shutdown team success.

  • Should I Keep Playing RTTS?
  • JackD290_MLBTSJ JackD290_MLBTS

Got drafted by the Giants and spent three years there winning 2 x MVP awards, Hank Aaron and Silver Sluggers. Decided that Giants aren’t going to be a team regularly competing in the postseason so requested a trade to a championship contending team.

Got traded to the Red Sox who had literally just won the WS and now I’m there are glued firmly to the bottom of the division, giving up runs for fun and nobody driving anything in except for me. And now the Giants are now top of the division and doing really well.

This is my 4th attempt at a RTTs career on this game and every time I end up starting again because the game keeps doing this to me.

I have played for the Marlins, Braves, Dodgers, Brewers, Yankees, Giants, Phillies and now Red Sox across the careers and every time I switch teams the game just keeps shutting down team success for me.

I’m bored of winning individual awards and losing to every team constantly.

I’ve seen other people report this online but I’ve also seen people say they’ve never experienced this.

Why is it happening to me and how can I stop it?
