I Don’t Think I Can Finish My Pitching Career
-
I did a RTTS career as a batter and I had my issues but I got through it and it was generally OK.
I’ve now tried doing a career as a pitcher and the amount of BS that’s being thrown my way by the the CPU is actually overwhelming and making the game feel almost pointless to play.
Pitch location feels absolutely irrelevant, I perfectly execute my pitches to the corners and the game either forces them down the middle for batters to smash out of the yard or continually forces them out of the zone so that I either give up walks or have no choice but to give the batter something to crush.
Certain batters get preferential treatment by the game and are able to just constantly foul everything off until they get bored of doing so and then hit a no doubt homer, by which point my pitch count is ridiculous.
Umpires repeatedly favouring batters when calling balls and strikes, again feels like a built in mechanic to make you throw closer to the middle so that home runs can be dished out to whoever wants one.
Way too many fielding errors on routine balls that allow runners on base to come round and score and hits that would normally be singles turn into doubles or triples.
And to top it all off my team point blank refuses to score runs until I leave the field. Either that or I’m holding a one run lead into the 7th which they then blow.
Everything in this game as a pitcher feels like a system that can be used by the game to force a certain outcome and it doesn’t even hide it. You just get spammed with BS constantly and made to feel like user input and skill have no effect whatsoever on the outcome of your time on the mound.
This game is pure RNG and scripting, I would advise anyone who’s thinking about doing RTTS, just be a batter. You’ll still encounter BS but it’ll be way less than if you’re a pitcher.
For a while I would just quit and restart a game if I felt like I was being cheated by the CPU but now I’m just thinking what’s the point? I play video games to have fun not to be constantly counteracting scripting and bad dice rolls.
I’ve honestly never played a game so determined to shut down success and force failure.

Dude, you need to turn down the difficulty.
There is no way to make the game 'harder'. You are the main factor in 95% of the game's 'difficulty'. How well you swing the bat. How well you throw/time your pitches. How well you guess where the pitch location is.
The game can not make you swing at the wrong time or at a bad pitch. They can't make you miss the spot on your pitch meter.
Thus, the only thing that the game can do is add in things that are beyond your control. Your teammates suck. The batters you face can hit anything you throw. The opposing team makes every play. Etc..
All of these extraneous factors are increased/decreased with the difficulty. Whatever level you have your pitching set on, take it down one notch and you will see a world of difference.

@StinkyMcPooter_XBL I don’t believe it’s the difficulty because I have been very successful at times on this level but 60%-70% of the games feel crammed with BS like fielders falling on their backside when trying to pick up a weakly hit ball along the ground or batters smashing everything in sight regardless of how well execute my pitches.
If I execute poorly and give up a home run, absolutely fair enough, no arguments from me. But more often than not I’m being punished for playing well.
I just played a game against the Astros and my batters scored 0 runs until I got taken off after the 6th inning at which point they finally remembered how to swing a bat and put up 8 runs in the last 3 innings. That’s not something that’s difficulty based, that’s something that happens all the time and is clearly coded into the game, I can only assume, to keep my wins down.
I don’t feel like I’m a game player, I feel like a game spectator. The game pushes towards certain outcomes and I’m merely pushing buttons and watching the script unfold. I played this difficulty as a batter and felt like I had way more control of the outcome of games.
