    MLB The Show 22 Ideas
  • G graymendes_PSN

Actual improvements to Franchise Mode, especially with respect to roster construction.

    • Playable Single-A team
    • Non-Roster Invites to Spring Training
    • Placing Draftees on Rosters after signing them (so a June 2021 draftee should be able to play right away on a Single-A team)
    • Dynamic Interleague schedules year-over-year

Joe Torre has a glitchy swing? That’s news to me lmao. I’d say he has one of the worst swings in the game.

May we never forget the Joe Torre doubles mission in 18. I will never use a Joe Torre card again.

OH MY GOD I FELT THIS

  • 1st Inning Showdown Tips?
  • G graymendes_PSN

Last night I was doing AL East showdown and Cole walked my first three hitters on something like 16 pitches. His confidence was way down and I was able to get the six runs I needed in only five outs.

Can't emphasize enough to TAKE PITCHES. If you do a good job grinding the first time through your lineup, by the time they've faced nine hitters you want them to be 40+ pitches in. Even if you haven't gotten many on base, it gets much easier at the end. But NO first pitch outs. Those will kill you.

Sorry WoozyPolarBear, consumers do not forfeit constitutional rights because of a contractual purchase.

......I mean, you can't forfeit constitutional rights that you don't have. The first five words of the First Amendment are "Congress shall make no law..."

SDS ain't Congress. They can do whatever they want on a forum that they own. What can't happen is that the police can't put you in prison for asking for a refund.

ALSO - the server issues are COMPLETE garbage and consumers should be compensated for the time lost and opportunities lost. At the VERY least they need to extend the time available to complete deadlined programs like the 1st Inning.

  • Is the squeeze play frowned upon
  • G graymendes_PSN

I mean, I don't think Gallo is a great option for "need to get a guy in from third and don't want to strike out". I want high contact guys in for that situation.

I don't know why this company does this with moments. I have a very hate type relationship with moments in this game and the last one so I decided to check out just how stupid things are.

Using the TN Adam Duvall moment, I played it 18 times where you have to get 8 total bases. I did it decently quickly but that isn't really the point. So in those 18 times I have done the moment, not completed, just the moment itself I saw 29.7% strikes. This is on veteran difficulty. I was walked 12 times mostly because I was trying to take a lot of pitches to see what would happen. I struck out 4 times and had numerous hits. I was also beaned 3 times. All 3 times with 2 strikes on me.

So then I jumped into play VS CPU and played vs Atlanta and Mac Fried. In those games, I only played 3 but the whole 9 inning games and faced 73.1% strikes. I drew 1 walk and wasn't hit by a pitch.

This speaks absolute volumes for me on how absolutely stupid these moments really are.

I know, I have no life but I just thought I'd share this completely useless info.

When actual data is compiled and analysed like this it is so much more convincing and satisfying to read than the usual (justified nonetheless) complaint posts. Thank you for thinking to and going to the effort of doing this.

Moments really are the ‘busy work’ of this game. I would also add Showdown, Conquest and Events to that category. In fact, anything that detracts from playing actual baseball or team management (ie grinding) could be classed as busy work (the purpose of which is to keep the player engaged in the game without giving the opportunity to learn anything new or improve any skills). That ain’t baseball.

At least conquest is busywork that doesn't result in high blood pressure .

And you can complete missions and get PXP in Conquest. The fact that you can't in Moments makes them even more annoying. I actually liked it better back in TS18 when you had a million individual game requirements and insane stat grinds - I didn't love that, but it was a lot more satisfying than this. (Anyone remember Daniel Nava?)

  • Future Event
  • G graymendes_PSN

So the last five times I've entered this event, my first opponent has been flying a WS flag. There aren't that many [censored] WS players in the game....are lesser folks just staying away from this event?

  • Torre just confirmed
  • G graymendes_PSN

You're comparing a single-season OPS to a career OPS. Leave the goalposts where they are.

  • People can be little brats
  • G graymendes_PSN

The most annoying people in the game for me are the ones who beg for favors - "need this win for 12 quit pls" or "let me HR with first two hitters and i'll quit" - and then call you toxic for not giving it to them. Play the game or GTFO.

  • Horrible presentation of franchise
  • G graymendes_PSN

There have been so many of the same issues with Franchise over the last several years - most of them outlined here - that it's an annual disappointment when they don't get them taken care of. For me, the things I would like to see solved are:

    • non-roster invites to Spring Training
    • fully fleshed-out High-A affiliates
    • deeper Rule 4 Draft with revamped scouting system
    • greater and more obvious impact of coaching/training
    • in-season contract extensions for the whole season
    • more realistic trade engine that makes optimization harder and allows you to build/ruin relationships with other GMs
    • a legit owner mode similar to MVP 2005 that allows you to build a stadium and have realistic cashflow issues

.... and others. I don't care at all about rebranding or relocation - I want to be able to build my Orioles from the ground up and MVP 05 did a better job of this than MLBTS is doing 15 years later.

Thankfully, I really enjoy the DD experience even though I spend zero additional money on it, so for the past three years I've put Franchise to the side except on occasion and just enjoy the outstanding depth of content and diversity of experience that DD provides. And for me, playing online is usually enjoyable, except for the occasional jagoff.

  • How To Watch Ball In RTTS???
  • G graymendes_PSN

It's been L2 in RTTS for the last couple of seasons.

  • In hindsight...
  • G graymendes_PSN

We probably should have known something was up when they released the game more than a month later than in previous years.

  • Mariano might be useless.
  • G graymendes_PSN

They will give Rivera at least a changeup and a complementary hard 4SFB. And that cutter will have HUGE break. Evidence is what they've done with Zack Britton. When he was having his insanely dominant years with the O's he threw something like 97% sinkers at 96-98. SDS gave him something more like his old starter repertoire.

  • FINALLY!!! After 7 years....

This isn’t really related to any of your points, but that 2016 flashback britton should be WAY better than what SDS makes it.

    That guy was untouchable

    803 ERA+

For reference, Rivera’s best was 316. Obviously he was much, much more consistent though lol. But 803 is the highest I’ve ever seen for a reliever.

That is hilariously high. All I remember as a Jays fan is "here comes a three-up three-down with two k's and a weak grounder" every-time he entered the game.

Hah - so as a Jays fan you also remember when his a$$ was on the pine while Ubaldo was giving up a walkoff bomb to Encarnacion

Yes. Glorious. I will forever be indebted to Buck Showalter for that genius managerial decision.

That sound you hear is my giant Orioles fan sigh

This is why I usually don't play any RS until about a week in. I'm not trying to take a bunch of early losses while the elite players with god-level PCI skills are tooling around trying to get out of ST.

  • I’m content w pitching and here’s why...
  • G graymendes_PSN

I played pulse for probably 3 years. Over the years it got more and more random in terms of what good input would spit out, so this year I switched to PA. Other than the occasional time when the upstroke doesn't match my input at all, it does feel like I control it more. If I hit my spot, I hit my spot.
