1st Inning Showdown Tips?
-
Hi,
I'm having a heck of a time just getting through the 1st Inning Showdown. Usually I get burned trying to strike out Duke Snider but I get tripped up other times too. I also can't seem to replay any of the non-elimination missions I don't succeed in (when I thought I got 15 outs to attempt them). Any good hints? FWIW I did finish the Starter showdown.

You can't replay any mission in showdown, what happens is what happens. You get 15 outs on the final showdown I believe. For any RED boss you are only scoring runs so read who the pitcher is righty/lefty and then stack your lineup accordingly. You will not play the field at all so you could have Trout as a Catcher and that's fine. For those final showdowns they only use 1 pitcher so you can take till you get 2 strikes if you want to lower the pitchers stamina which will help increase your PCI size.
Generally I'll get 1 silver bullpen guy to help with the pitching missions and pretty much all drafts go for lineup upgrades.

Best tip...find something else to do. I gave up on the Showdowns a few weeks ago. gives me a headache and I'm just not good enough to complete. Sad day

Hit the ball

Patience at the plate is huge. I feel the farther you go along the more balls they’ll throw you. Take until you get a strike, sometimes even take 2.

I agree 100% with this statement. I do so so on the lead up to the final showdown typically acquiring between 8-10 runs (I usually try to skip the second last showdown). I go in confident and patient at the plate and can maybe get 2-3 runs, but as my outs dwindle down, my patience wears thin and make stupid swings.
I think what frustrates me the most is getting a perfect/perfect swing/contact and having it hit directly (fielder doesn't even move) to the guy....
I'm just glad it doesn't track how many times you've attempted it as that would drive me into a depression..

Last night I was doing AL East showdown and Cole walked my first three hitters on something like 16 pitches. His confidence was way down and I was able to get the six runs I needed in only five outs.
Can't emphasize enough to TAKE PITCHES. If you do a good job grinding the first time through your lineup, by the time they've faced nine hitters you want them to be 40+ pitches in. Even if you haven't gotten many on base, it gets much easier at the end. But NO first pitch outs. Those will kill you.

Took me 15 hours of gameplay - but suggestion for me would be do not go past the first boss without 3 runs, do not swing at first pitches, do not try to ever take an extra base, play cautious and pray the RNG GODS are on your side
