I'm a "no money spent" player and haven't put in as many hours this year as in the past. Showzone estimates 20-27 million stubs needed if starting the collection from scratch, sure beats out the 2.2 million I had saved up lmao. At the moment, Mantle seems unattainable for anyone who hasn't done extensive grinding\flipping from the start

    https://ibb.co/G5Z0B9H

it is obtainable by flipping, I did spend most of this last weekend flipping and bought a ton of cards. I am still need more, I had already started collecting more once the Rollins collection dropped. It was nothing crazy. I have played a lot less this year. I was not ready at all for any of the collections Brett, McCuthchen or Rollins, I have got all of those done. It takes a lot of flipping or grinding but flipping is faster.

With the amount of reward cards being handed out on a silver platter, I barely flipped at all this year. Hindsight is 20/20, if only I had known since launch that Mantle was would be the ultimate collection

For people that have been playing for months and don't have a single collection done, what are you doing with all the stubs you've gotten for free just playing the game?

I have used some to buy cards that I wanted that were either in packs or online rewards. I probably paid a premium for them by buying them quickly. I bought a couple of the All Star and HR packs but no others.

I have played since release. I play offline only. I have done all of the main programs but only up until the last boss pack. I did about half of the Other Programs.

Mostly I have been pretty frugal with my stubs. I have 1.4 million right now. As a Cardinals fan I will be doing the Finest Collection to get Goldschmidt. At current prices that alone will use about a 3rd of my stubs.

What will I do with the rest (roughly 1 million)? I honestly don't know but I know it is not enough to chase Mantle with.

Ok follow up question, have you completed programs? How many players do you need? Genuinely interested. It seems like at this point in the year if you've completed all the programs even only playing offline you should be really close

Not necessarily. Offline programs Only get you so fat when pretty much the entirety of the allstar, breakout, rookie, veteran, and 2nd half collection are BR or event rewards. If one stops at the boss pack and doesn't sell any cards they would only be about halfway close on Future Stars, FOTF, and Jackie. The only collections you are likely to have from entirely offline play with no flipping or buying cards specifically for collections are POTM , most of topps now, and postseason.

The only real way to be close without specifically preparing for it is to have completed every event and BR program. Combine those 2 with flipping and you have people like me who have every single card(and I've flipped a whole lot less than last year, events is a massive stub maker)

I've mostly played offline programs this year minus potm, barely touching ranked or events (and zero on BR). I ended up with a few million stubs from selling rewards, but I don't think I ever made anything close to 20 million worth in both liquid stubs and sellable cards

I play 1-2 hours a day max and 3-5 nights a week. So no, I won’t be getting mantle, Othani or any other cars locked behind “play 500 hours a day” walls.

    Same here

  • esmlb_rop_PSNE esmlb_rop_PSN

Unless Dibble is just a henchman being teased, with Mantle probably being the big reward. Waiting on 99 Eddie Murray as well @SDS

    Aaron Hicks with max everything.

    So basically 17's Pepe Alazar

SDS loves to "solve" problems with the worst solutions. Instead of simply letting us create 2 separate and pre-game locked default lineups using only players on your 26 man roster, they went the unrealistic route with a single lineup vs mystery starting pitchers.

Because having 8 consecutive HOF caliber hitters is so realistic...

I mean it's not either, but there's too much cherry picking to what SDS wants to make "realistic" in this game

SDS doesn't want to lose the casuals and xbox/switch noobs that feed the microtran$action machine, so hitting will never return to the glory days of 16 and 17

I think it was the show 20 where they determined that in order to increase offense, they slightly enlarged PCI's instead of making hitting less random

  • How to fix The Show gameplay and make it the best Baseball game ever!
  • esmlb_rop_PSNE esmlb_rop_PSN

It's as easy as going back to 17's hitting engine before the "just late" patch and fix nonchalant fielding, but that would scare away all the noobs/casuals who dump money into this game

17 was great for content but I think a lot of people like it for nostalgia reasons. You could get jammed on an inside fastball and hit a oppo no-doubter. Not to mention the horrible fielding animations and baserunning cheese.

19 started great, then everything was a lineout, or warning track out. Plus every game was vs Kluber to start, Newhouser to close or vise versa.

21 is the best DD in my opinion. I didn’t really care about the outlier stuff. I wish it wasn’t just a sinker fest, but it wasn’t bad enough for me to not consider it the best DD.

21 had way less hung pitches and you could actually strike people out. I think if they patch 22 to have less foul offs and actually be able to strike people out, it has potential to be the best.

Hitting outcomes are way too random and inconsistent this year and last year to ever be better than 16/17. Those jammed hits and bombs from 17 came about after the "just late be great" patch that started the huge downfall we're seeing today

    50 more feet of [censored]

    #7 - 19's lineout fest

No way; 19 is ahead of 20, 21 and 22. Yes it was a lineout fest, but you could actually hit the ball and pitch too.

'20 pitches were hung like Ron Jeremy
'21 was outlier mess with FS Cabrera and AS DeGrom 80% of matchups
'22 has a bit of everything.

Yeah you could hit the ball...right into a glove lol. Pitching was easier because you guessed it...hard hit balls went right into a glove anyway. In 21, hitting felt a tick more rewarding than in 20 or this year but not by much. Last year and this year I'm still able to dot pitches with analog so I can't comment on pinpoint. But this year it seems like the only way to get a hit is through perfect input, early swings with the pci barely touching the ball, or very late swings on pitches jammed way inside. A 12+ pci that's just barely late of perfect will almost always be a routine fly out regardless if the timing is still "good". But I'll take this year's random hitting results over 19's almost guaranteed lineouts/fly outs even if pitching was better

  • esmlb_rop_PSNE esmlb_rop_PSN

In typical SDS fashion, they completely removed the ability to see the handedness of the opposing pitcher instead of implementing the simple solution: lock in 1 of 2 default lineups (vs. LHP/RHP) during the pre-game loading screen based off the same 26 man roster.

I use an all switch hitting lineup to circumvent that b.s.
