    Switch Successfully Linked
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

With all the nightmare posts flying around about linking XBoxes and Switches to Playstations, I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to do it. Well, I'm here to tell you that it links just fine and there are no problems. I have my current progression on both my PS5 and my Switch. In case anyone needs to know, here is what I did:

    1. I started MLBTS22 on my Switch and set it up as its own game (including creating a My Ballplayer).
    2. I accepted the terms and conditions
    3. I clicked on the icon by my name and clicked through the tutorial.
    4. I clicked on Link Account under the My Profile Screen

The Switch then generated a code for me to enter into my The Show account.

    1. I logged into my The Show account and entered the link code.
    2. I got a screen asking me which account I wanted to continue my progression on.
    3. I chose my PS account.
    4. It then told me that there was a discrepancy in the My Ballplayer on my Switch and on the server and asked which one I wanted to keep. I chose the My Ballplayer from my PS5 (the one on the server).
    5. I then quit the game and went back into it and everything was perfect.
    6. I logged out of my The Show account and logged into my PS account and checked the marketplace and inventory on the web and everything was perfect.
    7. I logged into the game on my PS5 to verify and everything is perfect.

It all works just as they said it would. Also, the error I was getting when logging into my Nintendo account (before tonight) on theshow.com now redirects me to the screen showing my accounts and which ones are linked.

  • To my Bro's - Thank you!
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

On this, the last day of 21, I want to say thank you to my Bro's. These guys brought me from my infancy of playing for years on Franchise (with my own 99 created players) on the easiest level to where I am now: Diamond Dynasty, All-Star (sometimes Veteran or Legend), and Zone hitting.

This has been my first full year of DD and now I get it.

I used to think it was the craziest thing to collect virtual cards, only to have to start over again the next year. I didn't get it.

I didn't understand the market and why people would spend real money to buy stubs, or why they would spend stubs on virtual cards...for Pete's sake...those things are used for my budget to sign my players so they don't get traded away. I didn't get it.

I didn't understand why anyone would play RTTS when you could just create a monster player (or a whole team of them) and kill the CPU each and every time. It took my sons and DD to get me to understand that.

It puzzled me why guys would form leagues and play online. I really didn't get it (I still don't like to play online except for friendlies).

These guys taught me the wisdom of a wired connection and using a monitor (instead of my 65" TV with the video and audio going through my decade-old stereo).

I thought I knew this game pretty well when I really didn't know it at all.

I may be older than all but one of them, but these guys are like the big brothers I never had. These guys are my Bro's. To each and every one of you: (in no particular order) Jason, Kevin, Fred, Joe, Chris, Marcus, Vinny, Vin, Shawn, Jeff, Sonny, Wyatt, Arvin, Dave, and Mike. Thank you!

Sometimes a game is not about a game at all...

I know this is corny, but I really appreciate you guys!!!!!

  • DD obituary.
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

I played a bit after the drop. I’m not a fan either. My wife has given me permission to attend the funeral and walk away. I don’t know if I’ll be able to, but it wasn’t difficult to turn it off this afternoon to go walk around Costco. She said I could find a new game. I’m thinking I’ll try the ncaa football game, but honestly, if all sports games have this structure, I don’t see the point in that either.

I’m not saying I’ll leave the game alone, but I’m certainly not in a hurry to turn it back on. This makes me sad because I’ve loved this game for so long.

  • Are there many retirees that play MLBTS?
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

Just curious because I've been retired since 2016 and play the show quite a bit. I know of a couple "old guys" that play and was wondering how many are really out there.

  • Why I do spreadsheets
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

I appreciate all the comments in this thread. For you young’uns I can see how you’d feel this is a waste of time, but for this old retired guy who spent over 30 years making analytical spreadsheets, this is a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the game at a different level. I don’t do this to make my gameplay better (because I’m not that good, to begin with). When I made my first spreadsheet for the game a few years ago, it was because I was tired of going back to the program screen to see where I was and what I had to do next. With this, I can keep playing and forget the program page, because all of the info is at my fingertips as I play.

If you think these two tabs are a waste of time, you should watch my video of the whole spreadsheet… https://youtu.be/X5jrIVRoJyQ

Cheers - and enjoy the game.

  • Scouting Report Choice Pack in store
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

This may be old news, but I didn't see a post on it. There are 7 days left to get this free pack.

The first round is diamond equipment.

The second round is a choice of:
    97 Award Smoltz
    97 Signature Stargell
    97 FS Hassell
    98 Award Morneau
    98 Finest Sizemore
    99 Finest Griffey Sr
    99 FS Walker
    99 Finest Kendall
    99 FS Carroll
    99 Finest Wainwright

This is by far the best Scouting Report pack I have ever seen.

  • Spreadsheet of Captains and their boosts
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

I am creating a spreadsheet of Captains and their boosts. The sheet will have all of the Captains on it but only the responsibilities for the cards I have. If anyone is interested in making this a joint project (not a project with joints), please PM me.

For those that feel this is a waste of time, I understand. You don't have to tell me.

  • Extreme has taken the wind out of my sails
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

Wow - I never thought I would be the one to feel this. The only time I've logged in since Extreme came out was to get my daily doubles. Once I looked at the program and poked around at the moments and missions, I had no desire to play the game.

I have a lot of conquest maps to finish, TA3 and the July POTM, but I just don't feel it. I don't have a desire to play the game at all.

This is very weird for me because I am usually on the game for 6-8 hours a day.

I wonder how long this will last.

  • Perfect Perfect
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

    @SFR_Kraken_PSN said in Perfect Perfect:

I love playing this game and losing 2-0 and getting back to back perfect perfects with Diamond players. The first one was a 98mph fly out to the wall, and then next one was a 114mph groundout to second base. I love this game so much, it brings me so much joy. It even made me break a headset

This is such an old topic.

Perfect-Perfects are not THE perfect hit. They are A perfect hit. You made perfect contact (north-south) with perfect timing (east-west), but your exit speed and launch angle (which has much to do with the speed and type of pitch you hit, are not what the perfects are reporting) were not enough to get it over the wall (you don't mention how far away the wall was). There are perfect grounders and if there are no fielders in the game, that will be a hit 100% of the time. Introduce fielders, though, and all it is a perfect hit, not necessarily a base it.

You can look up your launch angles and exit velocities on a website (the URL eludes me at the moment) and it will tell you how far the ball SHOULD travel based on real-world matches.

Forget trying to get perfect-perfects and try to hit the ball where the fielders aren't instead.

  • Team Affinity S1 C1 Scoop
  • Blind_Bleeder_PSNB Blind_Bleeder_PSN

As we prepare for the C2 drop today, I thought I would post my thoughts on C1 (not that my thoughts are valuable, but they are still my thoughts). C1 doesn't expire for a while, so there may still be some people working on it - or even waiting for C2 so their work will count for both programs at the same time.

I was asked a while ago if I thought MTO would be valuable for TA this year. The short answer is: not for S1 C1. I played a season on Dynamic and only got 24K out of it (I was eliminated in the Post Season). Maybe, just maybe, if I had played on AS instead of Dynamic, I would have done better. I will give this another shot in C2. I don't even want to think how bad I would have done in Mini Seasons if I tried that.

Now for the long answer. Those who know me, know that I am the worst DD player in the history of MLBTS. Given that, I am finding this year to be especially challenging playing the CPU. I have lost more games to the Rockies, White Sox, and Athletics than I care to admit. For this reason, I stayed away from TA Conquest...after trying the ALE map twice and losing the first three games on each try.

By playing vs the CPU with themed teams, I found that once I got to a TA pitcher the program moved along nicely. Before that, it was a grind.

Here is how I achieved my points for each division:

    alt text

I found that my Team Affinity spreadsheet (the version for S1 C1 is in my Dropbox shared folder - for those with the link) helped tremendously. It assisted me in targeting teams and players to get the most points possible out of each game - and save myself some innings when I didn't need to play a complete game. This year, I have teamed my TA spreadsheet with the MLBTS 24 version of my Lineup & Depth Chart spreadsheet (introduced in a YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/live/53kXICnbR7E?si=yILyAofQ5g6z8y30) which is also in my shared folder. By copy and pasting my lineup (from the Squad tab in the Community Market website at theshow.com, I was better able to control my lineups so they were the most effective versions possible (it even helped me target some players that I could buy to make my lineup better).

When the year began, I didn't think I would give TA a shot (because of my challenges against the CPU), but I broke down and did it. I'm glad I did too. I ended up having a good time, and I'm looking forward to C2. I can't say that I care for the rewards all that much, but I have found some LS cards that were a lot of fun to play with (Luis Robert Jr. to name one). For me, that is one of the best parts of TA - using cards I never thought I would and finding players I enjoy playing with.

Well, if you made it this far in the post, thank you for reading my ramblings. Have fun playing The Show! It's a challenge this year for sure, but without challenges, life is boring.

@BJDUBBYAH said in SDS: Pushing me towards online play is pushing me away from the game:

When you had players blasting 25k XP games on rookie at max elevation stadiums on repeat last year, this was bound to happen.

I’ve noticed that people who are hyper focused on XP progress this season are the furthest behind. I’ll give you some advice

Just play the game. I’m at 731k and all I’ve done to get there is play the game. Literally that’s it.

I am not hyperfocused on XP and I'm at 290k. I've noticed a huge difference in the amount of XP earned per game this year. At this rate, I don't know if I'll get the bosses or not - I hope I do.
