Putting word restrictions in offline modes is so incredibly lazy and stupid that it defies belief.

The idea that a bug doesn't get addressed or fixed b/c of QA is laughable on its face. Complete nonsense. Because an issue doesn't get addressed does not mean quality couldn't uncover the problem or even know how to fix it. It implies that development does a cost/benefit analysis and decides the issue isn't pressing enough to spend resources to fix it. QA doesn't allocate development resources; they test and report while the developers take their feedback and make decisions about what is to be addressed.
This has never been esoteric knowledge and game developers have repeatedly affirmed this for decades.
-
This is a legacy issue. Problem has been there for years and years and they've shown no intention of ever addressing it.

DD is fun and it's cool to get all your favorite players, but it kind of breaks the game at the same time. When everyone on your team is a superstar, the game plays much differently.
You need strengths and weaknesses to play the game correctly, IMO.Well you put your finger on the larger issue. DD players don't seem as concerned with the strategical nuances of the game nearly as much. Probably a lot more of them are arcade-style players. Complaints and criticisms from the DD crowd seem to focus on button/gamepad mechanic type stuff (perfect timing should result in a HR every time regardless of rating, etc...).
Contrast this with franchise players...I have no evidence but I suspect they are older on average. Complaints are geared towards thinks like AI bullpen management, outcome rates (BB, HR, SO), getting things like bunting and shifts to work correctly, etc...
DD forum has over 140x the posts as this one, so you can see why their priorities are what they are.

It should be noted that developers do not have free reign to do whatever they want. They're constrained by higher ups...corporate/marketing types.

Exactly. So SDS is making everyone recreate players, rosters, stadiums, and restart their franchise again this year. Again, unacceptable.
Rosters were never able to be carried over, and stadiums are new to this year so you can't really include that in the "again" portion.
Incorrect. Rosters were transferrable from 19 to 20.

I agree with you. I have read and watched a good deal about him and it does seem that he had some issues. But he was not nearly S bad as everyone thinks. It’s probably Ken Burns’ fault even though his documentary was otherwise perfect.
Al Stump did the most damage. Most of his stories were wildly exaggerated and some were fabricated completely. Ken Burns took this garbage and combined it with the fact that Cobb was much disliked by his contemporaries to create a racist bogeyman.
-
Guys that nobody wants shouldn't be rejecting offers because of contract length. This happens all the time in franchise, though. They should be happy to sign a one year deal so they can keep playing.
Should be fixed going forward.
-
Thanks again to the SDS corporate censors. You're always on the ball.

I think the problem we're facing is that there are 320k views on the DD forum, and only 2k views, here. I just don't think they care enough to prioritize franchise mode. Personally, I think a robust, customizable franchise mode with a strong online element would attract more attention...they seem to think that since people don't play a stale franchise mode that means they don't want franchise mode at all. No...people who prefer apples to oranges will still eat an orange if their only other option is a rotten apple.

Competition should be welcomed.

Blame Sony.
Because everything is forced through their own servers this is what you get. Everything dumped in one huge pile. If downloading/uploading/sharing were allowed by individual users, then repositories would be moderated. This is why stuff like this isn't as much of an issue with PC games - because content moderation is decentralized and outsourced to third parties.

It's bad enough that sac bunting is wrecked in this game, but even when you're successful it doesn't get counted in the box score and running franchise statistics. Though the in-game notification text says it was a sacrifice, it's treated as a fielder's choice groundout in the box score.
I filed a bug report (again), but I'm betting this will be with us for another 5-6 years.
-
Good list. I'd add a few things:
- Allow grouping of objects that can then be moved together. (Useful for moving entire decks up or down)
- Fix the field level pieces for behind home plate so they run flush with the field boundaries (there is only ONE field configuration, so how did this happen?)
- More signs, logos, scoreboards. Allow users to create signage within the editor.
- More grass textures (current ones don't look right, IMO)..add astroturf. Forget the physics, just give us the textures and base cut-outs.
- More flags (teams, AL/NL, custom)
- Address stadiums not being able to have night games.
- Allow for adjustment of field orientation once #6 is fixed.
- Allow us to place the bullpen ourselves.
EDIT: One more:
I don't understand why they can't remove the batter's eye requirement for non-competitive use. If adjusting the outfield wall disqualifies a stadium from online usage, then removing the batter's eye should do the same...just give us the option. Instead, they could include tarped sections of bleachers that we could use. Would go along way to helping recreate historic stadiums.

Game considers "mankowski" to be "inappropriate text". There are a number of other instances I've seen where some names are flagged as offensive while trying to do a historical roster. Some of these I can understand why but isn't this going a bit too far?
Not to mention, why on Earth on they doing this with offline rosters? To prevent someone from making dirty names and then uploading to the unsuspecting end user? Seems a lot of effort to go through in order to express your immature side...
Meanwhile, on the front page of the logo vault...
-
Why were these removed? The all-star and veteran batting stances are still there.
-
For anybody interested, this problem is still going on. It was better this morning for a few hours, but since I've been unable to get into the player vault. Other vaults still work fine.
-
Got into the players vault just a few minutes ago, but kicked out the minute I tried to search just like before. The only vault that appears to work okay is the logo vault, but I haven't played around with it too much.
-
Nope. I've been checking every few hours or so. Sometimes after multiple attempts I can get in but when I search and then try to flip through the pages it kicks me out. Most times I get the error just when pressing R1/R2 to get to the player vault.
-
Finding the player vault in particular to be really bad. After scrolling a few pages I get an unhandled exception and kicked out. Have to go back in and enter my search criteria to continue. It was this way yesterday and now I'm getting the same thing this morning.
Making it very difficult to navigate, search, and download. Please fix.
