When the pci starts to shake on the screen, does that usually mean its time for a new controller?

That means you have to stop doing drugs and get a job.

Good question. I have the same problem
It's hard to hold it steady in any giving location.
I could be wrong but I think that’s from the “haptic” feedback when in a pivotal situation. My controller lightly vibrates/pulses which causes the pci to wiggle a bit.
I just had this issue with my pci and I could never hold it still. On the back of your ps4 controller there’s a tiny hole to reset it. So Push in the reset for 5 seconds. Then you will have to press and hold both DualShocks down for 30 seconds and after 30 seconds I believe you rotate them both clockwise 5 times and then counter clockwise 5 times. Finally hold both thumb sticks down again for thirty seconds and it should be good!

It might not work for everybody but it made mine work again. PlayStation has a page on how to recalibrate the controller to help the drift. Doesn’t hurt to try

I had this and happened to have a 2nd controller. I swapped to that and it doesn't shake at all. I didn't try any resets though so maybe that would work before needing to buy a new one! Good luck
Two posts before this one is from someone whose name references a rhino. Then the post right before this has a picture of a rhino. Was that on purpose? Or is it a miracle?

I had this issue last year and bought a new controller. That fixed it. I read later that this could be due to dirt and dust getting in there and there is a way to clean it. To be honest, I didn’t look any further than that, but it’s worth a google search.

Thanks. I plan on doing on taking it apart and clean as much dust as possible. If i still have that shaking. I'll just get another controller.
