Should SDS sell high?

it’s not the only game they make.
-
You’re right, they can’t sell the “MLB” rights, but I misspoke. They can sell the franchise which is what I meant by rights.
-
Plenty of companies sell when it’s the only product they have. A majority of our corporations actually started that way. Once you can’t deliver the same quality product as when you started you sell and collect royalties. I personally think the user base and demands that are being made are too great for what they can handle. It’s kind of evident the last two years.
From their website, they haven’t made a non-MLB The Show game since April 2017.

I don’t think they would sell, nor do I think it would actually be the best business decision. I think they’ve done a beastly job on the brand itself, but I think we’re at a crossroad where the ability To meet our asks is getting to be too difficult for them. You're right though, they know exactly what they are doing. I just wish that with all the revenue they reel in, they could hire competent developers. If the game was more polished they may even sell more packs and Stubbs..

Noooooooope. Big long hard erect no from me dawg. SDS has their flaws, but they're better than 2K and EA in every way.
Lol, nice! I agree on 2K. EA has better sports engines and resources imo. I’m really just venting cause they should have these issues figured out considering they are flushed with cash and have been making games for Years.

Ea sports engine better? Have you played madden lately? I'd take 2k over ea everyday. Both money hungry and microtransaction ridden games. But 2k is atleast playable. Myplayer has a good amount of depth too it, Myleague is 100% better than maddens Franchise mode. On top of that as bad as 2k is they do address alot of problems especially when it comes to cheese online.( I.E removing behind the back cheese this year). So yeah id take 2k atleast they still somewhat care about their product, EA literally don't give a Fk

I haven’t played the new one! So you may be correct. But From my own experience EA games play smooth (NHL and FIFA) , especially in comparison to the current state of this game. I do agree that they are all money hungry. I just want a functional game. Lol

Totally with you on that. My fault also, I tend to forget EA makes other sports games, so just using madden as a reference isn't a fair comparison.

You have copies of their P/L Statements, do you?
The only ones who have access to that info is SDS and Sony themselves. And the parent company seems happy enough, as does MLB which just granted permission (and/or demanded) they take the game cross-platform next year.
Sorry, but you're in the distinct minority.

All good! I’m actually not familiar enough with 2K to even make that comparison. You’d know way better than me. I just love EA, maybe cause I grew up on it. All these developers have issues. I think I’m just so rattled with how bad the fielding/pitching is right now that I’m blowing things a bit out of proportion. Lol

No, I don’t. But it’s obvious they are.... Video game companies don’t operate under deficits. I already explained having 0 marginal cost in another post. They pay nothing to produce each additional game unit after the initial investment. Meaning each game, stub and pack is additional revenue. They have 90 employees and generated 1.7 million in game sales revenue ALONE last year. Never mind sponsorship , AD and partner revenue. I’m also confused as to the response you’re trying to get. You are supporting my statement by saying they are going cross platform, that costs dough. I’m simply saying they have the funds to outsource the work or hire someone internally who can do the work necessary to improve the game.
If I’m misunderstanding you, please clarify.

EA rigs tf out of NHL and FIFA so if it were to go to EA no thank you.

SDS has a proud history of working on sports games for nearly 20 years.

Thank you for this! Exactly why I think it’s absurd this game is so dysfunctional. Lol it’s not like they are new to baseball games. They have no excuse. If after 20 years you can’t get fielding down, might be time to turn the wheel another direction in terms of personnel.

First we aren't sports-centric enough, but given more information, our experience is actually our weakness?

I’m glad they are working on it! Something as trivial as fielding should never be an issue in the first place. It’s been satisfactorily in all previous games, why all of a sudden is it a struggle. Sometimes less is more..

I can assure you the logic is not trivial...
-
Yea when coding it the first time. Listen I’m obviously not a developer and I’m sure you have a birds eye view of the issues, but briefly explain to everyone including myself why fielding works perfectly in all the other games but not this one? Can’t you just implant the old code? It’s definitely the least intricate when compared to hitting and pitching, no?
@Collin_SDS
-
And regardless of the complexity, you guys sold a broken game to the world and your MLB partners are actively down talking the game...
-
This is by far the stupidest post Ive seen in a long time.

Thinking SDS should sell the rights to MLB over to a better development team, preferably a sports-centric one. I don’t see how you could create an award winning game and over the course of a few years break it entirely.
They should sell while the value is there because the developers clearly have no idea what they are doing.
No, they shouldn't stop making The Show, as they've long been the industry's gold standard for creating a comprehensive player experience. They have an extremely high reputation in the gaming industry, one which many (myself included) believe to be well-earned.
One improvement they could make, possibly... is to create something akin to "Baseball School", a longish tutorial-type experience through which players can learn the basic nature of baseball, the physics of the sport (particularly the variance introduced by collision physics, etc).
Unfortunately, they'd probably have to offer high rewards for completion of Baseball School, but it sure would help clear the pollution in the forum. Only the most stubborn spewers would continue once they've actually gained some understanding of the game, I suspect.
