How prevalent is cheating in H2H games in MLB The Show 26?
-
I read that last night. Very interesting article.

Great read, based on lots of data. I love data.

@sds_joek_psn I don't think the in game reporting function is properly addressing this issue. Nor the reporting through the website. It's not an issue at lower levels, but when every 1 out of 4 games above rating 1100 is facing a cheater, it makes it borderline unplayable and an AWFUL consumer experience. I've reported multiple people who have admitted through PSN messages that they are cheating (bragging about it even) and they are still actively playing ranked games.
-
@unclevinny___psn -- I can't speak to these players messaging you, of course. There are lots of variables there. I can tell you that the in-game reporting features are the best/easiest/quickest way to give the team the info it needs to investigate and take action on potential cheating.

Dashboard lol

The cheating prevalent at the higher levels is why i stop playing rank when i reach a certain level. I honestly don’t face much cheating because of this for the most part. I would love to try and compete at the 1000 more but you can just look at the leaderboard and see the averages of players. I am sorry but you ain’t hitting .500-.600 on legend. The top player in the game for years isn’t hitting that. The streamers have it easy because they more than likely won’t face this players because cheaters block their accounts.

And yet people still say “because you lost a game? Ever think that maybe the player is really good?” Crazy. I’m not good enough to play in WS or above and have cross play off so I don’t face them but to deny there isn’t rampant cheating in the upper echelons of rank is absurd. Yet, this players are still on the leaderboard…..

I'll say it again, I have not seen anybody deny that there is cheating going on. The only point of contention has been how common it is.
This article appears to validate both sides. If you are among the smaller % of players who play at the highest levels then it is too common. If you play in the mid to lower tiers it is not that common.
-
I agree

Exactly.
I don't know how so many construe 'my experience is that it's not nearly as prevalent as some suggest' as "there's no cheating".Utterly baffling.

I mean data aside, wouldn’t this be kinda obvious?
If you’re using a script to hit for you why would you be sub 1000 rating?
Obviously you would be at the highest ranking possible or at the very least, near n the highest ranking

what happens when two people cheat against each other?

I almost never touch online modes. The few times I jumped into an Event—just trying to grind out a Castellanos card—it felt like the other guy was straight-up cheating. Honestly, I didn't even get mad; I just felt sorry that someone takes it so seriously they feel the need to cheat. I’m perfectly content staying in my offline bubble, running through Conquest maps and Mini Seasons on repeat. Having played actual competitive baseball for years, I already know how much of a struggle the real game is. I have no desire to recreate that stress with a controller in my hand. I’m happy chilling on Veteran or All-Star, and the whole mentality of playing just to beat up on weaker opponents just seems sad to me.

That's so well said. And for me at least, pretty well sums my basis to totally avoid online play. The community just has too many people who get wrapped up around having their ID plastered on some ranking. The cheap thrill gives them so much self-fulfillment that it causes them to partner up with dark web sources, who themselves data mine and also frequently engage in cyber crime.
It's pretty sad.
For it's own part, SDS created this monster by trying to play off their video game as some grand worldwide competition model. Truth is, the first thing any true competitive league has to do is adopt rules and have a near foolproof way to enforce those rules equitably.
The internet cannot be so regulated, and SDS knows this. So, they create the illusion of a great sports league merely as a marketing ploy. SDS isn't surprised that between one third to forty percent of those names they plaster blindly at the top of the totem pole have cheated like crazy to get there. SDS just wants to whistle past the graveyard hoping the reality doesn't hurt their overall sales numbers, as well as blunt whatever post sale monetization ploy they gin up.
That folks, is the real dirty truth.

I highly doubt anyone is cheating in events. For some people all-star is just batting practice. I use it for relaxing stats to the multiplayer program that I need. I usually hit around .450 on it if I am guessing. If it’s less Than I that than i am playing when I am super tired or not on my monitor.

Cheating mostly occurs at 800 level and above because the game is extremely hard at those levels and above. Most of my game in the 8-900 level against non cheaters are first team to score 2/3 runs wins. It’s crazy how hard hitting is at legend.

You have to get there first. There are cheaters in the lower ranks making their way to the higher ranks. This article doesn't even address the pitching only cheat which I think is way more prevalent.
-
The pitching only cheat is what I've seen most of. I run into a lot where it is 100% perfect releases and the ball is always just a hair out of the zone or barely touching the outside of the zone.

Yes because a $100 device and dragging a script to it is far easier than device, pc and capture card.

How do you think they get there?
Cheaters largely aren't good players who can't get over the bubble, they're sad sacks who couldn't hit the s off [censored].
