Am I the only one hating the game this year?
-
I’ve never not enjoyed my time playin the games all the way back to the show 15(yes I even enjoyed 18 somehow) but this year I just don’t like the game all that much. I don’t understand what goes through Sds head when they make missions like they just did for the Jackie program or have 1 event in the opening month. I’m not sure what happened to fielding this year bc it took four steps backwards from last year especially in the outfield. Pitching is like rolling the dice if it’s going to be hung or not. Every good card right now is locked in the collections and their way of brining the market down is to drop packs with exclusive odds. When it was finally time to add new br rewards which in my eyes going 12-0 is the hardest thing possible in this game they add two extremely underwhelming cards into it. As much as I’m happy to get Tino Martinez in the game there’s no way that he should be a World Series reward with those stats. Then the 2nd inning program releases with a feller that isn’t good a Hanley that can’t field and joe carter. Last year the second inning had extremely good Cards for that time of the year and this years were just meh. Then to add salt to the wound they added the miggy to packs which is 100x better than all the inning program cards. I was extremely excited for this year and the new things like showdown and the perfect perfect ability but it all jus ended up so-so to me. The only thing I think was done right this year was team affinity and that they’re bringing back fan favorite cards this year.

The hate is strong in the community. Or at least, the haters are loud.
I am new to The Show (19 was my first), so am still very impressed by it all. I totally suck at this game, but I still enjoy it
-
Comparing to years past..... hate is a little strong, but SDS has a lot of work to do before this one is good.
-
It’s a love/hate thing for me. I was so looking forward to this years game but it has some serious issues that need fixing. Hopefully SDS can turn it around.

Same. I played the beta extensively and was SUPER excited. I have about $400 set aside for stubs but decided to wait and see what I could build naturally before buying some. So glad I waited and will NOT be buying until my enjoyment level reaches what I experience last year. For the record, last year I was barely above .500 in close to 500 RS games but I still enjoyed myself in most of those losses so it's not just about winning = enjoyment for me.

I wonder how many other people are out there like you who would have otherwise bought packs but are waiting to see if the game improves. I’m not sure if some of the complaints are falling on deaf ears or not, but one way to make sure people are being heard is for them to stop spending money. I mean if people were serious about wanting the game to change, they’d have to organize some sort of pack buying embargo. Like friends tell friends and nobody buy packs or stubs for a certain amount of time. It would probably take a YouTuber to do something like that, but that would mess too much with their livelihood, so I doubt they would.

I'm not sure. I would hope there are many but I doubt it. My experience with madden suggests that executives do not factor in gameplay when making revenue decisions. They view better gameplay resources as competitors to content resources (UT financials it up). Translation: a crappier game has not led to a decline in revenue across the board. Individual game sales may be down but overall sales are up because of UT content.
I have a fair amount of disposable income and would have absolutely zero trouble spending on games where I felt the gameplay was worthy of my dollars. I spend VERY little in madden because of that reason. I spent a couple hundred on MLB last year and was prepared to increase that this year based 1) my enjoyment last year; and 2) how the beta played. That is not going to happen until I see an improvement that leads to the game being more enjoyable for me in RS.

Reading this board seriously makes me feel like I've slipped into an alternate universe or something. I read post after post complaining about the various problems with the game, but I don't personally experience them.
Controlling outfielders does feel a bit wonky at times, but not to the point where i'm making errors all the time. I'm not knowledgeable enough to comment intelligently on PCI placement or whether good input is being rewarded as often as it should, but my overall hitting stats are roughly the same as they've always been. The same goes for pitching. When I hit the center of the meter, my pitches almost always go where i was aiming them or pretty close to it. When I do hang one over the middle, 99% of the time my input was a little bit off.
I'm not trying to go all fanboy on everybody and deny that there are issues, because I've seen the videos and some of them do look pretty bad. I guess I'm just genuinely confused about why I don't have any of the same problems they do. Is it because I don't play online that much? Is it because I almost never play above all star difficulty? Is it because I play with default settings and the game can't handle it for some reason when people change them? Do I not have a large enough sample size of games played for the issues to stand out since I don't play as much as a lot of the more hardcore players? Am I just a weird outlier? I seriously don't get it.
Maybe I'm getting the benefit of the so called "little billy code that everyone keeps whining about, but if that's the case then the developers need to give it a patch because my RS record is terrible and i'm in the middle of a long losing streak so I could use a few cheap wins thrown my way lol.

I love these fake post yes we all "hate" the greatest game of all-time. OK

This is what’s annoying. Some days the majority of games play okay and you start to think the game could be okay with a few tweaks. Then you have two or three games where pitches are jumping around and appear to be coming in at 200mph so you can’t hit, your defenders botch multiple routine plays at key moments, just standing there like statues while the ball hits them in the face, or they start doing crazy things that are out of your control to prevent and you’re back to thinking this is the worst version of the game that you’ve ever seen.
-
In short, yes, it is because you don’t play online very much.
-
i gave up on 20 and i'm back in 19. ball gets smacked around the way it should
-
I like thinking about playing the game more than actually playing it
-
Offline mode is so good, you guys are missing out trying to play DD and pulling cards or whatever else you online people do.
-
The game is amazing and user skill is very important. The main problem is many users want to blame someone or something else for their failures.
