@DemIsE4_XBL cheating was caused by the community. Bunt dancing and toxic play like continuously pausing. Then we have the people who love playing the victim. We will always have people who will never be satisfied with anything. It’s impossible problem with no solution that would satisfy every single player.

    I’ve said this before…

Those that post criticisms in a “healthy, non-toxic, professional and non-personal way” are simply passionate about the Show and want to be “part of the solution “ in making it a better game. Even if we disagree on what a “better game” looks like.

Everyone else? Probably on my block list!. 🫣😂

    Exactly!

Yep. And not to say the entire community is at fault. I actually started a "non-toxic" group where we can complain about the game, but we are all civil and never attack one another.

SDS is in a spot where no matter what they do, people won't be happy. They've finally addressed the WBC glitch and now all the people that are like "you're only complaining about the glitch because you weren't around to do it...." and "let's stick it to SDS, I don't care if they ban me."....

Well, now they're doing something about it. And X is FILLED with the people who "didn't care if they ban me" complaining about getting banned.

Cheating may be caused by the community but isn't it on the gaming companies to protect the non-cheaters? We don't have the tools to combat cheating, SDS does. Games talk about competitive integrity yet very few actually do what it takes. Seems like only the big AAA studios take a crack at it.

@DemIsE4_XBL it’s on both parties. You shouldn’t cheat or encourage and they should be able to defend people against cheaters. But I’m not gonna stop playing just cuz I run into a very small amount of cheaters but that’s just me.

I played on all star against Miz yesterday twice. Saw a streamer play him on HOF and his speeds were noticeably slower than mine. I haven't figured it out. Makes zero sense. That streamer also said he has fiber internet. I have google which is one of the best in the country. Only thing I can think of at this point is NIC in my early PS5 is bad. I have literally tried or changed everything else. I'm afraid of buying a PS5 Pro and it still doing the same. If I knew it would work I would have one by this weekend.

The community is still apart of the problem I know some of you view everything with rose tinted glasses. There are actually issues and every minor inconvenience certain people don’t like.

Everyone should go to the latest X post on the Giants' comeback. 95% of the messages are toxic, swearing at them, have nothing to do with the post.

That's what I give SDS credit for. I would either stop posting or turn off comments.

There is just no reason for people to be like this. I don't care how "mad" they are.

And to your minor inconvenience piece - remember the when Elly was released? Everyone was complaining about how bad of a card he was.
I'm pretty sure he's been starting against me in 90% of Ranked games. Card must be terrible!

Frankly, any corporation employee who has an online account, be it on X, or a web forum like this, is being paid to be a public spokesman. It is no different that a public affairs official who takes questions from the media. Some of the reporters are reasonable people and some are hacks just out to attack. Either way, it goes with the job and you get paid to deal with it.

One more thing I want to add, since before I read Sarge's extended comments, I sort of glossed over that assertion you made about folks being ignorant of what it takes to write code for a video game. Go back to my original reply to you. If your new car fails to start sitting in the office parking lot, you don't have to hold a degree in mechanical engineering to realize you paid for a clunker!

That said, I do hold a minor in computer science issued by NC State University. Yes, it was decades in the past, but while earning that minor to go along with my larger BS degree from same, I actually did write a video game. It became rather popular with the other computer science students I attended classes with and wrote code with in the computer labs.

I also worked on several projects to create virtual aircraft for noteworthy PC flight simulators. My main work was in testing their aircraft for proper flight characteristics. This because I knew my path was different than working in a cubicle pounding out computer code all day. It was flying high performance aircraft for the US Air Force, and I firmly believe I made the right choice for myself.

But, I was well known for providing accurate feedback to those who created the virtual aircraft. I also understood that these companies had to turn a profit to remain in business. I earned a reputation for detailed analysis and thorough examination. In addition to the testing, I also ran a company myself that specialized in creating virtual aircraft, missions, and aerial combat campaigns for what was then known as Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator I and II. I assembled a team of coders, testers, and software experts.

So, yes, I very much know what it takes to put out quality computer technology. So, given I have gone from very much pro SDS and how they managed this once outstanding game title, to perhaps being one of their most ardent critics herein, I would say I earned that change of heart by SDS's repeated malice and poor workmanship. And I think I operate from a principle of integrity and honesty. I also think the vast majority of the bug reports and complaints written here are entirely fair and objectively accurate.

Fair points, and I appreciate the thoughtful response.

To be clear, I’m not saying complaints are never warranted. They absolutely are. I’ve made them myself. When my account was erroneously restricted, I posted about it. When I lost 700K stubs, I posted about that too. Both were eventually fixed, but they were real issues and I had every right to be frustrated.

My point is more about how people handle that frustration.

You don’t strike me as someone who is just blindly attacking people, threatening SDS employees, swearing at them, or rooting for people to lose their jobs. So what I’m saying probably doesn’t apply to you. Constructive criticism is fine. Detailed bug reports are fine. Calling out legitimate issues is fine.

But there’s a huge difference between that and the constant toxic pile-on we see around every single thing SDS posts. Complaining about every little inconvenience, turning every issue into “SDS is trash,” harassing employees on X, encouraging glitches, or hoping people get fired is a completely different thing.

And for what it’s worth, this is probably my least favorite MLB The Show since I started playing. So I’m not pretending the game is perfect. It isn’t. There are plenty of things I’d change.

I just also think it’s still a much better game, and much more fun, than the loudest parts of the community make it out to be. And frankly, a lot of the people acting like the game is unplayable are still logging in and playing it every day.

That’s really my point. Criticism is healthy. The nonstop negativity and personal toxicity are not.

Also - yes, you may be someone that understands what goes into video game development. I also have a bit of a CS background (in that I was a CS major for 2 years before changing), but there are people calling for devs to lose their jobs over stuff they truly don't understand.

Fair enough, I appreciate this exchange with you!

    Cheers!

Did you just start playing this game? I've been here since Big Papi in 2006. Missed a couple years in pre 2020 but that was it. Prior to the show it was RBI baseball, MVP, High Heat, and Hardball on the CPU. I love baseball games. However there is no reason not to be negative if you love the game. The fact that there is only one MLB game out there means not competition which has resulted in sub par gaming. This is not some small mom and pop game studio this Sony backed SDS. Name one major game produced that has this many bugs in it? They have not fixed menu crashing and lineup screen crashing in 2 years. Your ok with that? Any time there is a major issue (cheating, exploits, etc) do we hear from them? No, crickets. Do they listen to the community? Nope. Do they double down on the meta when the game needs a breathe of fresh air to keep it alive? Yep. Get rid of pci shrinkage? Yeah but we didnt. Move the meta away from switch hitters? No let's make 3 of the last 4 program rewards switch hitters. They reduce pack odds. Restrict market investing. Manipulate the whole LS roster updates. Some of the coolest features in the game like stadium creator and logo creator still dont work properly after years. They deserve every bit of heat they get from content creators and players. We want this game to be better. So yeah your in the wrong

If they gave us a decent game at launch we wouldn't be here complaining.

I don't think the devs should be fired. I can't hope for that in good conscience. Those are people with lives and jobs. I struggled to find a job for six months last year in this abysmal job market, and I don't want someone to face the same thing.

But we should hold the game accountable, I agree. We should expect better from a game we pay $70 for every year. At that price we should be receiving a good product that is not only worth the money, but also our time playing it.

Definitely this. They've always had server issues for early release and first week but this game legit felt like a beta test at release. Menus were worse than last year, changing your squad after moments still freezes the game and new glitches everywhere. I'm tired of paying to act as a beta tester. It's not just this game either but it's getting pretty bad.

@Dolenz_PSN I had probably the most unenjoyable hour and a half on ranked earlier but I’m just gonna let it run off my back. I played 4 1000 icons in a row trying to make an early ranked run and let’s just say it resulted in my new 97 leiters era getting destroyed. But oh well I was playing the closest thing to the sport I love I can atm and was trying my best to make light out of it.

i got shelled 3 straight games in weekend classic. ( i admit i need to get better which i won't if i don't try but man its [censored] lol ) I went into ranked today faced a guy with Miz and just couldn't hit him to save my life. I stuck it out but man he was one of those [censored] that replays his homeruns that bugs me so much. I can never seem to steal a base either always manages to skip or studder when i steal and i get thrown out but i get stolen on a lot. I stick it out i have my moments online and really just grind it out for the reward path loot.

Ok I’ve been wondering this FOREVER. It’s crazy the visual difference. I was watching DaddyDimmu last night for a bit, and watching the pitches come in when he was hitting…super slow. Yet me on allstar, I’m behind EVERYTHING because it gets on me stupidly quick

@Sarge1387_PSN maybe its just the way we see it after the recording. Looks slower after they record it. I dont know. But if im watching a recording I should be able to see it as if its in real time. The pitch speeds should look fast. I cant figure it out.

Just played some events on my wired fiber. Game is unplayable. Can't even see the ball. I'll have to dumb down my internet tomorrow and see if that works.

Can’t see the ball because of the speed or the background? May be the servers. I always play hardwired fiber but there are games where something feels off. I just always assume it’s my brain though 😂

I just played an event game where, during extra innings, I had to activate the throwing meter three times before it gave me anything other than red (no green middle). Ended up giving up a run instead of an easy out that would've ended the inning. Is that connection based or did the game just glitch for whatever reason?

Just watched a streamer look absolutely clueless for 6 innings then just start magically raining perfects.

Then next game a guy super dotting all game (yea I highly suspect that pitching cheat) he scores 15 runs. I truly think this game is heavily infested with cheats.

I played D1 and minor league ball. There is zero reason I shouldn't see and read the ball. Again, could be my PS5 NIC as usually the same thing happens on 5G. I'm literally worried about buying a PS5 Pro and having the same issue. With trade-in that would be $700. Well worth it if it worked but I'm not convinced. I have literally tried everything else. If it is the servers or P2P connection, I don't think a Pro would matter. Had me baffled for years.
