Ethan Holliday?

. I personally think these scans are leaked out as content throughout the season to keep up interest. It’s something new.
That makes zero business sense. I get that it's frustrating. I want everything for free right now too.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN How does keeping people interested with new content make “zero business sense”? If they didn’t think people cared about updated likenesses, why would they announce them on the updates or do them at all?
The fact is, even if you’re not one of them, people out there like the idea of their game looking as real as possible. It makes it more immersive and fun.
Not sure what the comment about wanting something for free was about but, again, for franchise players it IS frustrating to have to constantly restart. Even if you don’t care or disagree, can you at least understand that part of the frustration?

I get both sides. I'm in the camp that there are more serious issues at play with this game than whether we have or have not particular face scans of players. Quite honestly if the game continues on it's current trajectory noone will have to worry about face scans anymore.... there won't be a game.
-
Thank goodness Max Clark and Cam Smith had face scans. Totally makes up for the top of the 4th being extra innings, 30% of the pitches being fouled off and relievers pitching in every game of a 3 game series.

@dodgers19k88_MLBTS If you don’t care about the topic of the thread, why reply?

I find it hilarious. The conspiracy theories tossed around for guys that are irrelevant in franchises that don’t go more than a season or 2 without major edits or lots of simulating. They literally said how scans work in the streams and in a post on this site. They had a huge post when they did the first updated face scan during a game cycle about them coming to tour the studio and see how the game is made and get their face scanned.
-
@dodgers19k88_MLBTS They addressed why all scanned players aren’t released at the beginning of the season? I don’t recall them ever doing that.
If you’re saying they made a post about it, what did it say?
-
The thread about players likeness has been a pretty hot topic. Is there an explanation on how it works? Or why players are leaked weekly? Just want to have someone from the inside give some insight.
-
@RiceRiceBaby15_PSN Straight to the source. I like it.

It was one of the post years ago when they first started doing it in 2022 or 2023. They had a post with the player coming to their studio to get a tour and get scanned. That year they did maybe 5 players total.
-
@dodgers19k88_MLBTS Yeah I remember when they posted about how the scans were made. But they didn’t address why scans captured at Spring Training aren’t released as early as possible or why they’re leaked out throughout the season. That’s the discussion we’re having.
-
@RiceRiceBaby15_PSN -- As far as the process itself goes, we set up a face scanning rig at Spring Training and players have the option to get scanned. Some choose to and some choose not to and we respect whatever their decision is. But that contributes to why you'll see some players with face scans and some without.

That's not the question at hand. Most of us understand that aspect.
What some folks keep asking about is why some scans come much later in the season than others. Some believe that they are purposely withheld for whatever reason.
Can you address this issue?

Didn't he just say that they have the option to be scanned or not? Are you blind or something?
-
@Player99_MLBTS The question wasn’t “where do you scan players and does every player in Major League Baseball get scanned”.
We are asking why all the scans of new players they get at Spring Training are not released at the beginning of the season and are instead leaked out throughout the year.
Unless you’re honestly suggesting every player added to the game later went to San Diego and got scanned in the middle of the baseball season (something SDS has said rarely ever happens)?
-
@bleachfro_mlbts Going off what @sds_joek_psn said and you’re thinking. Spring training started February 20th. The game launched March 17th. Possible they didn’t even finish scans for all 30 teams before launch. Logistically speaking they can’t have everyone at launch. I’ll go with what you are suggesting because it’s making sense and add some thoughts.
Minor league players might have to be on a major league roster before being added? Maybe they can add a certain number per update?
-
First, watch your lips. I have never once questioned this. Go back and read my posts. I have said this from the get go.
Secondly, almost everyone on these forums accepts this as fact, with the exception of the odd few.
Lastly, there are a couple people who believe that the scans are all sitting in a vault somewhere and being dribbled out for marketing reasons (or whatever). I would like someone to put this to bed so we do not keep getting the same posts.
-
@StinkyMcPooter_XBL -- Ah, sorry if I misunderstood. The answer there is simply that it takes the character team time to process not only the face scans, but also the players that weren't scanned.
I'm not aware of any kind of "priority list" as to the order players are processed and put into the game in, and if one does exist, I'm not privy to it.
What I can say is that we don't "purposely withhold" players. There wouldn't be any reason for that. The team goes through their processes and puts the players into the game, simple as that.
-
@SDS_JoeK_PSN Thank you for the response!
-
@dodgers19k88_MLBTS Oh I totally agree that they couldn’t have everyone at launch which is why I was asking about doing it their first roster update.
But it looks like we got an answer. I’m thankful for that but a tad bummed top prospects/players aren’t the priority when the new models are added. That being said, I’m glad we got an answer on this.
