Some very depressing maths
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN I gotcha. I mean I have pulled all of my good pulls at night. I can't play in the AM. I would think there would be significantly more people taking advantage of this if they knew about it. I must be pretty lucky they don't or I wouldn't have pulled anyone haha.
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN But if that is a factual experience, then following that strategy would improve your odds beyond 1:50 to pull diamonds. That is a decided advantage. It would be akin to knowing the store the winning scratch ticket were sold at, but still not knowing which of the scratch tickets is the winner until scratched. Are you saying that you would rather have worse odds if it were totally random rather than pre-determined?! I will give you credit for sticking with your guns, but I definitely would love to take advantage anywhere I can to pull that elusive Ohtani!
Well, first off all a lottery has a governing body. Any idiot who say, steals a lottery ticket or murders a person who may have won forgets that
SDS has no governing body
Someone somewhere has to audit the tickets.
-
I would rather have random odds. I dont want the game engine determining what I get. Pre determined odds can also mean the game knows you just pulled a judge and determine your odds of pulling another good card based off your pull results. Its completely predatory in nature.

Besides all the bills and legislation passed about loot boxes that are regulated all over the world by each individual country?
-
You mean the people just now aware of how much money their kids have spent on stupid [censored]?

Im not arguing with you other than to be fun. Its funny how all the legislation doesn’t amount to squat. Carry on
Opening a pack of MLB the Show 26 cards may as well have a warning labels on them: odds are you’re going to be disappointed and have cancer
Yet they make them rewards
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN I definitely understand if you would appreciate some audit validation of the odds. Tough to take a loot box company at their word. Regardless of what the true baseline odds are (honestly stated or not) following that factual AM opening strategy would improve yours against baseline and would thus create a decided advantage, no? I don't want to move the goal post here. Just want to pin down an understanding of different folks' perspectives.
-
Everyone is playing for the loot box results, instead of playing the actual [censored] game
They should have realized this years ago but they’re dumb
Now we have this
Many people are not having fun. Don’t have a stat. Money doesn’t = interest in a game
This year it seems many more people are having even less fun.
Is it packs, or gameplay?
-
@SpawnOfDitka_XBL I’ve gone hundreds of packs without a diamond. I’ve also had 2 in 1 pack twice this year. It’s all luck.
-
@SpawnOfDitka_XBL I can appreciate the desire for random odds. I respect that you stick to what you prefer here. I also agree that loot boxes/gacha games are predatory in nature. I personally don't mind whether the odds of these are pre-determined or totally random though as I won't spend any money on anything but the base game so I just take what I get. I can see the emotional attachment that some folks on here have about getting the best cards to battle in multiplayer, but I am not very good online so I can't speak to the advantage of any given card in that scene and whether or not it is fair to have a pre-determined amount of them available (through gatekeepers in pre-determined packs to complete the collections).
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL I don’t think the other mini seasons are bad or not worth it. I just think classic is the most rewarding and you can use any player.
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN I don't know that we can speak in absolutes here. I didn't play MLBtheShow for about a half decade. Played '25 for a month last year around the World Series. Picked it up this year because my son is playing baseball and have been having an absolute blast. I expect nothing from those packs but man was I excited when Judge flipped around. I have a long way to go to collect them all but I am having fun playing the game with each new card I get to try and find the cards I enjoy most. I even roped a close friend in that said he would never play. He is also having a blast. I definitely know they have some things that they can improve, but I have really enjoyed my time playing and feel like its a great value for what I spent on the game. I won't speak for everyone, but I am really having fun playing MLBtheShow.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN you didnt listen to a word i just said, did you? Its pre determined odds. Or pre determined luck whatever you want to call it.

As you should be. It just could be better, always strive to make [censored] better. It’s baseball coaching
Some day SDS will get a baseball coach
-
@SpawnOfDitka_XBL yea but everyone has the same odds. Whether the game wants to reward you or screw you. The odds don’t change person to person like it does in random like if you went to the casino.

The point is they’re not “odds” it’s payout expectatancy. They will always match that number
And SDS is pretty good about not volunteering that info on any card. One day you press square to see “odds” next day triangle, all they do is throw up say 1:7
Then a picture of some [censored] topps now card you really don’t want
And you’ll get him
-
@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS yes everyone has the same odds as far as 1 and 50. Its just when you get the diamond and the player you get does not have the same odds. The game pre determines it.. not sure if I am explaining it correctly or not. Sorry.
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN correct. Completely predatory. I think alot of the community is finally waking up to this.
-
Hopefully
I just hate how blatant SDS is about it between their not fixing bugs or just doing random stuff they don’t even address it at all
Your 99 player that you did collections for, plays the exact same as the other versions
Which leads me to believe there’s maybe 3-4 stats on a player that actually mean anything, the rest are lies and eye candy
Discipline and Pitcher confidence are two hidden things not on cards. A 50 ovr pitcher can shell your 99 batter all day every day
Defensively other than speed nothing matters much, they all play the same because it’s animation locked
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN right! I feel like alot of the difference between stats with some of these stats mean very little. Power i can definitely tell the difference between 70 and a 100 Power, speed i can see a difference as well. Contact seems to be hit or miss, because it also depends on a pitchers confidence levels hit per 9s, stamina etc. Vision i dont think anyone knows what vision really does. Power seems to be the most important hitting stat in this game. All the good players, all they ever talk about is power. Power dictates the exit velocity off the bat which is pretty important in this game. I feel like the cards swing maybe the most important thing over stats lmao.
