NEW STRIKE ZONE TOMORROW
-
@a761506_MLBTS we disagree there - I was pretty shocked by how small it looked when I first played today
Ahem(cough cough) they umm have a pill for that
-
@BLAISEBLAISE_PSN how would that be the same?
-
This new strike zone is absolutely a disaster! It's terrible. Both online and offline, pitching and hitting, balls that aren't even touching the strike zone -- that are clearly balls -- are being called strikes. Whatever changes were made are not working, and this needs to be fixed immediately.
-
@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN it was almost clipping the zone but there was still a fair enough distance that it probably would have been out of the old zone. It’s just weird swinging at visually what Ik is balls.
-
@macdaddy-o_PSN are you sure you don’t need to just squint a little bit or go into the pitcher analysis to check some of those out
-
I have no issue with the new zone - I just dont like that its "perfect" now (no variance from game to game - if it clips box, its a strike). Doesn't feel realistic at all to me.
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN you’ll get used to it - pitches just out of the zone are easier to hit than pitches in zone sometimes

Well, that's the game of baseball now. I mean, I personally think it's gotten a bit more consistent...before with "perfect" strikezones pitchers were being squeezed so much you almost had to throw something fully in the zone to get a strike.
Last night I played two games of coop with my friend...and the foul balls went up because batters are now realizing they need to protect the plate more...but strikeouts looking went up because guys are now forced to make that gamble- which I'm ok with. Happened to be when batting too, and again that's ok...now there's some consistency
-
@Sarge1387_PSN yeah, but realize that's moving away from realism. There's no consistency with real umps - they miss a ton. You get 2 challenges, yes (and you should in game too with box disappearing) - but real umps still miss borderline pitches a ton.
-
Plus, it would just be super fun to get to challenge calls and have the suspense of it in the game
-
@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN I love it from a pitching standpoint and Ive been more of a player that’s pitching wins me ball games my offence just has to do enough. Which I’ve won 5 of my last 6 so my offence has been getting the job done pitching has Been lights out.
-
Good for online, probably gonna frustrate offline grinders though, especially on conquest where it turns a lot of those balls into dotted strikes. EDIT Actually I guess it's still the same but just different visually?
-
@xRatedGProdigyx_PSN well, its about the same - different visual box, and no more variance in calls (so before the same pitch could be called a ball one time and strike next time - not possible now)
-

I'd rather have perfect and know exactly what is and isn't going to be a strike than the RNG BS that occurred prior.

The strike zone got a lot bigger… I think it’s going to favor pitchers immensely and force batters to swing at far more pitches. I can’t imagine how difficult this is for big league hitters. If the seams of the ball touch the zone, like just over the low outside corner, it’s a strike… on a virtually unhittable pitch. I think it’s going to be catastrophic for this game.
I feel the same way, strike has gotten bigger. I find myself having to swing at pitches I don't normally swing at just to protect and get a lot of weak foul offs or ground balls back to the pitcher. Definitely walking less.
One a side note, I have noticed I am able to make better contact on low and away sliders. Probably doesn't mean much.
-

About as close as I’ve seen. yesterday, this would’ve been an 50/50 call and would be fine with either call. I will say this new zone does seem to be helping me with waiting for better pitches early in the count.
The walks and good contact I got, were from always taking until I got my 1st strike. I feel that 0-2 1-2 counts we are dead in the water.now.

I played my first RS game this morning with the new strike zone, and I find the same thing. I was able to lay off pitches outside the zone a lot better. We'll see how this plays out over time.
-
I like the new change. I struck out watching a ball just nip the zone and was like, WTH!, pretty comical. This is gonna be a positive change
-
Effectively, I think it has made the zone a bit bigger. Its good to give high-control pitchers a fighting chance. I'd even be fine with going slightly bigger on strike zone if they nerfed the sinker.
-
@rubicante23_PSN struck out a couple of times to a sinker that barely touches the top corner which is impossible to hit.
