Can we please have realistic umpires in Ranked?

@YOSHI24_XBL hitting is in no way shape or form over powered. Stop it. If you arnt squaring up the ball almost perfectly the game is giving you nothing, maybe a bloop. Then when you do square up the ball its an out 50 percent of the time, line drive out. Dead wrong here. If anything loosen up the hitting. Hitting is where the fun is at. This isnt real baseball. Most of us dont want wants 15 strike outs a game, nor 2 to 0 score games. Go watch real baseball on tv if thats what you want. You think its harder to pitch!! Yeah right. Ten times harder to get the pci on the ball and time it up at the same time while hitting. Give me a break. You little complainers have no clue what you are talking about. There is a reason you need half the ball in the strike zone for it to be a strike. If it was the other way around hitting would be almost impossible.

The devs said we have perfect umpires in DD…
Lol
-
Yeah, this has been extremely disappointing.

@MrDero_MLBTS perfect to mlb the show standards yes perfect to real life mlb umpires no mlb the show and I can’t get why they have always went 50/50 atleast half the ball had to be in the zone

Not calling strikes appropriately makes this game worse. As the pitcher/batter battle is the heart of baseball itself, it is absolutely inexcusable to blatantly ignore the rule most important to deciding those outcomes.
It's bad enough that the outer PCI allows you to foul off literally anything (a very early swing on a ball in the dirt should not make contact), but further protecting a batter from strikeouts by simply pretending a strike is something other than it is both sacrifices the drama of pitcher/batter experience and diminishes the importance of pitcher cards. And it's all to protect the fragility of little boys who can't handle striking out in a video game.
The entire game is poorer for it.

@Ditka06-_MLBTS, perhaps they should just eliminate pitching altogether and simply put the ball on a tee. We could all square the ball up as often as our fragile egos need and skip all that messy failure that the game of baseball tries to teach us to deal with.

I think both can be true. Every pitch that touches the black should be called a strike, and they can be a little more generous with perfect and almost perfect swings.
Of course more generous on the swings means the really good players are going to put up 30-40 runs a game. It also means that we will be swinging at almost every pitch because most users can tease the strike zone pretty well. Pitching is easier than hitting, and really bad misses while pitching are very rare at even low levels of H2H play.
The changes proposed in this thread would result in everyone swinging on almost every pitch.
-
@The_Joneser_PSN no you just want better pitching because you cant hit. Like I said hitting in this game is hard enough as is. Stop watching u tube videos. Those guys are the .00001 percent of the best players on the game. Most of us cannot hit anywhere near like them.

Please stop saying perfect umpiring in DD. If you've played this game at all then you know this isn't true even to SDS 50/50 rule. Multiple times in a game you can literally have 90 or even 100% of the ball in the zone and it be called a ball. And you can literally watch and replay people fully swinging and it get called a check swings. Anyone who has played this game knows that umpires in DD is the second most random RNG thing ever.

This complaint always confuses me. Why should this game be different than real baseball - real umpires are significantly less accurate than Show umps. You should get ABS challenge though (as long as you can't see the box)
Hitting is a bit OP now - but only for the really good hitters (less than 5 percent of players). The foul ball thing is a problem, but I think most players need the help of getting bailed out routinely. Otherwise, strikeouts would through the roof.

Funny responses … is it really that hard to stick to one argument line
?We have pitches, that are called balls which they are not … the game is capable to call strikes strikes … why can‘t it be that way?
-
I think both can be true. Every pitch that touches the black should be called a strike, and they can be a little more generous with perfect and almost perfect swings.
What a perfect response. Thanks for that
-
To add on: I am just watching real life baseball … We got the ABS system, that calls every pitch a strike, even if it barely touches the edge of the strike zone. That is what MLB the Show should play like
-
@YOSHI24_XBL no it should not. Learn how to hit. Stop relying on the easiest part of the game. Pitching is easy

YOU should not need ABS in DD in a video game. It is a coding error that is being blatantly over looked since 25. It has been stated by SDS that a 50/50 ball IS suppose to be called a strike in online DD. However there are multiple times that even a 100% in the strike zone ptich will be called a ball.
-
Hitting is not overpowered, we need pitches on the black to be called strikes tho. It’s crazy that people don’t need to protect the zone and get free walks or second chances.
-
@Ditka06-_MLBTS, never watched a game streamer in my life, and hitting has never been easier; I'm hitting 60 points higher than I ever have.
If you mean pitching is easy as in it isn't difficult to get the pitcher to throw the ball toward home plate, sure. In terms of run suppression in Ranked on All-Star, its a bit trickier.
Regardless, if your argument is that strikes should be called balls because you aren't capable of digesting the fact that you should have swung but did not, then you should probably be playing Mario Kart. Or checkers.
Maybe baseball just isn't for you.

If MLB The Show went with the true strike zone, playing ranked on anything higher than all star would be absolute hell. The amount of superdots that the PCI simply cant get to would be unbelievable. While the current umpire system should be improved, the solution is not to go to full rulebook strike zone. Just make the strike zone consistently 50/50, not what we have now.
