Lack of big legends

@SaveFarris_PSN I always thought it was weird that he didn’t get a 99 in 2022 and then was out of the game the following year. It’s just a suspicion I have. I could be wrong.

You are correct he had a 99 in 2021 but not 2022
OVR Year Series Team

99 2021 Awards CLE

Perhaps he asked for more money to re-up his contract and SDS wouldn't oblige
I never understood why players wouldnt wanna be in the game or ask for exorbitant amounts of money to be included. Its a paycheck for literally doing nothing but lending your name and image.

I agree. There’s so many former MLB players/families out there that it’s common sense that a good number of them would just be genuinely happy they/their loved one would be remembered in a widely-used game. I imagine every team has beloved regional players not well-known outside that fanbase. Maybe a pitch being they’re not being above a 90 diamond card, but introduced early on, so widely used at that point. Maybe they’re in a financial position that they can’t acquire/retain more early legends, but without that transparency from SDS I’ll assume they’re not trying and listening to their fanbase. But, we’ve not seen the final product, and it’s my opinion they will still bring out at least one major early legend. A Cobb or DiMaggio would certainly bring me to the game quicker.
-
I wish SDS would be more transparent as to the reason why SPECEFIC players aren’t in the game. Whether it’s the estate, the player, finances, etc.
Because too many times I’ve heard Bonds, Ty Cobb, A Rod, Daryl Strawberry, Jose Canseco, Ichiro, Bo Jackson…..and you wander, is it the player, the estate, or is SDS not interested in that player.
Transparency would be nice. Example, if Bonds don’t want in the game, forget him.
-
Negotiations are private because players don’t want their beans spilled and SDS doesn’t want to alienate potential future legends by leaking priveleged info and souring the relationship before it even starts.
Yeah, it stinks having to play the guessing game, but that’s how the world works.
-
@globetrotter360_PSN Bonds. Bonds and Bonds is the most mentioned legend for The Show.
-
@NWOStunna_PSN I don’t think that would help future negotiations, so that’s a very bad idea.
-
@LIONED-33_XBL And the least likely to ever be in the show again, at least while he’s alive.
-
but without that transparency from SDS I’ll assume they’re not trying and listening to their fanbase.
Way to assume the worst of SDS.
If they came out and shifted the blame to the players (because they wanted too much for example) then they may hurt their future ability to negotiate with that player or estate again.
If MLB has told them that specific legends like Rose is off limits then coming out and saying as much may hurt their relationship with MLB
If the decision to not have a player is theirs for whatever reason then why bother saying anything since gamers are just going to automatically blame them anyway.

I have a sneaking suspicion that with the wbc and international players there saving a big international name to be collection reward my guess is ichiro tbh
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN I don’t think they could give Ichiro enough power to be the full collection. They could be saving him for the AL reward though. I still think Arod is possible. We haven’t seen Tulo yet. It could be him, but he could also be a Jolt or NL West reward. I doubt Andruw Jones is the collection since he’s already the Braves reward.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN
That’s fair I was thinking even if they put his power in the area of 100 it would be a card that would play extremely well as it would have 99 fielding stats and speed I think they could make a ichiro card similar to the Beltrán of last year with a little more contact little less power I love you a-rod shout even as a redsox fan but I feel very unlikely tulo is one I wouldn’t mind or even like a triple crown Miguel Cabrera card would be nice or a buster card -
A CF with great speed/defense does need high power int he early stages of the game. Plus the parallel mod can do some work here too
That said, Ichiro is very unlikely since another game would be involved
-
I could see a 95 Posey as the NL West collection. Dodgers collection is brutal but that would soften the blow
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN I don’t think they could give him more than 80ish power. He never surpassed 15 home runs. The Jeter reward only had 90 power and he hit significantly more HR and had a season of 24 HR. Tony Gwynn usually gets 80-90 and he had a year of 17 HR in ~100 less AB than Ichiro’s 15 season. I just don’t see them making it good enough to justify the whole collection.
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS That would make sense.
-
I have a sneaking suspicion that with the wbc and international players there saving a big international name to be collection reward my guess is ichiro tbh
Pujols is MLB
Felix will be AL
Tulo will be NLIchiro is a Clemente/UNIT/Pedro/Ortiz/Pujols level legend who would be the main system-seller for that given year. And we already have one of those.
-
Its gonna be hilarious when the NL west collection turns out to be a 93 Fernando lol
-
@Dolenz_PSN No, it’s a fair assessment. I’m not saying tell the status of an individual they did not obtain, but should explain across thousands of possibilities why no one was added. There have been a lot of expressed interest in more new legends and even regional legends known mostly to one team’s fans. These are clearly easier players to obtain rights to use and also infuse some freshness to a new season. With such a wide range of players to look into, it would absolutely be not listening to a fanbase to not bring some of those new faces into the game. That was written 2-3 days ago and spot-on, since yesterday they did announce exactly that. I commend SDS for assembling a number of new legends across different eras. They’ve teased a big announcement today and I’ll be hoping for a new, major early legend.
