I’m both embarrassed that I recognize fewer than half of these names, but equally excited that I get to learn some more. And I am taking my dad to KC to visit the Negro League museum this summer! I went back in 2021 and it was a great experience, but it was before MLBTS had all these players. I think it will be an even cooler experience now after learning so much about these players.

I'm all for focusing on the negro leagues but my main concern at this point is the number that they have added. If they keep all the of previous ones in the game and add 10 more and they all get a card (or cards) then that is fewer slots open for your other favorite legends.

Free Agents (which were all Negro League players with the exception of Cy Young) had 50 Legend and Flashback cards in 2025 (including two Ranked 1000 cards). That tied them for 12th overall. Add 10 more, most of who will get multiple cards, and we could be looking at Free agents only trailing the Yankees and Dodgers in the the Legend and Flashback Category (and most of those are Flashbacks).

This could be part of the reason why we had 31 Legends (including 11 Hall of Famers) not get 99 OVR cards last year.

If there are limited spots to release these cards then more and more legends will either be cut from the game or not given their due.

But there aren't limited slots. SDS can release as many cards as they want. And the 99s mostly came as a bonus set. And I'm fine if they keep releasing the Jin Kim art as the 99s, its great.

They really need better support. None of the mini seasons for example have goals for using them. There is no TA for them. etc.

@Teak2112_MLBTS I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again and again, SDS sucks at distributing content. We get the same cards over and over. They refuse to give us negro league cards we actually want to use. They refuse to give us any reason whatsoever to use them. They’ve squandered a 4 year deal with the negro leagues.

Just because SDS can create as many programs and as much content as they need to cover all of the legends we have very little evidence that they are willing to do that. They kinda of proved that this past year.

So if SDS self limits the amount of content that they want to release then that is still a limit.

Last year I started in Negro Leagues Storylines, looking forward to using new cards. Within 24 hours, they were already rendered useless compared to other players in DD. I want a reason to play with the cards. I want to feel like I want them in my lineup, and I’m not talking about Donaldson or Mays. I don’t want to wait until later in the year for a dump to get playable cards like in 2025. Frankly, it’s insulting to their legacy. Hopefully they fix it but I’m not setting on it.

@bostondirtdog21_PSN Exactly! These should be some of the best cards at launch and we need a TA or FA program to use them for. Even a mini season.

I’ll look forward to playing Campy’s storyline and getting that stadium, but man, this franchise is literally called MLB and everyone is playing it because it’s MLB. I’ll grind like everything to get his 99 Dodgers card. SDS needs to step up its game and put some effort into our early MLB players.

They treat the NLB content so well through Storylines it's almost shocking how badly they disregard it within DD.

Any grinding you do with these cards in that mode offers ZERO progress towards TA, programs, etc. There is literally no incentive to use these players which falls directly on the shoulders of SDS.

I'm not a programmer, but it seems like an easy enough solution would be to add a voucher for PXP with NLB cards that can be exchanged for whatever you are working towards within DD.
