List is conspicuously missing Ben McDonald.

Never heard of that game.
I bought it for like 10 straight years and last year was the first one I skipped.
If you are looking for an in depth sim where you can be the GM or manager then it can't be beat for its depth of options.
Most gamers playing The Show dismiss it as it is a text based sim with rudimentary graphics.

@Dolenz_PSN Then, why when you look at the record page in game it shows the HR record as SF Giants and not Barry Bonds?

Per my new overlord, Gemini AI:
In 2003, Barry Bonds became the first player in 30 years to withdraw from the MLBPA licensing agreement, aiming to secure more lucrative independent marketing deals for his name and likeness. Consequently, he was excluded from official MLB-licensed merchandise, trading cards, and video games, often replaced by generic, inaccurate players.

@MarioMendoza935_XBL Well, the idea is that they don’t need his permission to use his name without his likeness.

But they do need permission to use his name. He owns his name AND likeness. That was part of the deal when he withdrew from the MLBPA.

@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN We aren’t talking about active players who are part of the players association. We are talking about legends.

I know. You were talking about Barry Bonds.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN Then why is the players association relevant? If they can use Jim Abbott’s name without paying him for his likeness, why can’t they use Barry Bonds’ name in their record screen? Neither player is active.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN I may be wrong but I think because Bonds does not allow his. Abbott I would assume gave his permission. I feel like not all legends allow their image and likeness but we only talk about Bonds because he is the most talked about in that regard.

Retired players are eligible to receive a pension under the MLBPA, which i would assume Abbott is. Anyone still in the MLBPA, active or retired, technically doesnt own the rights to their name. When Bonds left, that was part of the deal. He owns his name and likeness rights.
