1.08 Thoughts?

The fielding sucks. I played yesterday my outfielders and my opponents fielders would sometimes run around the ball and let it fall.

Fielding takes skill. Not the problem with this game.
Yea so skillful to move into a white circle on the ground
-
First game of Custom Leagues after the patch, my opponent had 5 errors in the OF.
I laughed it off as a bad game for him.
A few hours ago in Custom Leagues I had 6 total errors. I no longer thought it was funny.
Examples of what happened;
-
A line drive off the bat at my OF. My fielder was immediately locked on the ball but you could see it was going over his head.
-
My OF would not move until it was passed him and did the animation where a pop play goes over his head and flails and misses it.
-
My CF went directly back into the circle to catch a fly ball but wouldn’t lock on. Missed fly ball.
-
Fly ball to the left of my LF. He went to make a running catch but it literally hit his shoulder. Replay verified it.
-
Pop up to my 1B. Immediately locked on to him and then he did the flailing animation as it landed directly behind him.
6.. Several bad easy throws.

fielding is even worse after 1.08...had a 85 ovr outfield run to the ball and stand there while ball dropped next to him and rolled all the way to the fence, but some games fielder will lock on to the ball from 15ft away. its so wierd.

It's worse for sure. I just lost two showdown moments to my fielder running back and forth over the catch circle, glitching on the animation and missing the catch. It's terrible.
Yep coming to a stop and trying to catch a popup....like riding a bull trying to hang in there sometimes....every fly ball is kind of scary honestly if it in involves any running to the ball whatsoever....horrible
Man that’s just inexcusable, SDS needs to stop messing with that, fielding was good in 2019 once they patched it up...

The fielding is no better. Sick of Trout dropping fly balls. Two today reminded me of Conseco..hitting him in the head before dropping to the ground..so much fun...
-
I’ll keep saying it, the biggest issues are still the fielding and baserunning. Hitting can be frustrating but the mindless, unavoidable mistakes with fielding and baserunning ruin the experience the most, to me.

LOL, OMG

Worse. in 9 games today online between me and my opponent I noticed easily 20 fly balls/pop ups that players just wouldnt lock on or when they do it hits the players glove. Not to mention the catcher still cant block a strike 3.. strike 3 singles drive me nutz

Had a fly ball bounce off of Bryce Harper's head but then he catches it for the out. Opponent rage quit. Don't see how this is happening when I can't remember these issues in previous games
-
Had routine ground balls go through multiple fielders gloves like the glove was a ghost since patch and outfielders still have no sense of urgency when a winning or tying run is rounding third.

100 percent on this. These issues weren’t there in the past, why are they now? Is this a result of their changes to “make fielding matter?”

Man, it’s a shame, not sure what they tried to do but you’re probably right, they tinkered with something to make fielders stats matter more and it failed... I think the fielding in 2019 was solid, not sure why that was such a focus for 2020...

missing routine fly balls pitches hanging over the plate

I thought that was what first step reaction and Extreme Catch Indicator(whjch ive rarely seen) was for. That's what im most disappointed with in the game besides hitting. They advertised all these things to make it seem like playing 20 would be a whole new experience but honestly besides perfect/ perfect its basically 19. Atleast with perfect perfect or good/squared they should make those hits harder to play in the outfield more than it routinely being hit to someone that barely has to move.
-
There's literally no difference in hitting a perfect/perfect out than any other outcome. I mean if i hit a perfect/perfect grounder lets say right too a Bronze fielder maybe he should have less chance to be able to haul it than a diamond fielder. Same thing with lineouts/ or flyballs they should be harder to track or handle for bad fielders. That's where ratings should really have an impact
-
Fielding wayyyy worse after patch lmao honestly didn't have much trouble untill they fropped this patch that was supposed to improve fielding .
-
Had Yelich in LF on RS today. Ball hit him in the head on a routine fly ball. Even with 2nd position penalty he's still a bronze fielder. It's such a basic catch.
And the animations when your infielder stops a ball then runs around it 30 times before actually picking it it up.
Fielding is broken.
