I just played a WS player

Well. I salute you.
That said, I know that I can turn on a fastball up and in on HOF at my girlfriend’s house. At my place, depending on the pitcher, it is hit or miss.
I’m somewhere in PR in ranked, but I want to be able to get around on a fastball when I’m looking for it.

I personally wouldn't buy a new monitor at this moment with the PS5 around the corner. Or, if you really don't wanna wait, spend some extra money and get a higher end model that will be of use for the PS5 as well. I'm playing on a BENQ RL2755 and I've grown tired of it, been wanting to replace it for a while. But I'm gonna upgrade once the PS5 drops and ride it out with this until then.

I'm not a believer in this monitor vs. TV malarkey. I have a 6 year old 30" TV and beat a WS player last night. I'm mostly an offline Franchise player, and my RS rating is like 460. After playing 20 online games or so, I believe outcomes are random or driven by luck. And there really isn't much of a skill gap. I prefer offline vs. CPU mostly because the game feels more authentic.
Watch this video:
https://youtu.be/RENLMum5wz4The tv vs monitor thing comes down to how long you have to achieve your desired input. Imagine if the baseball coming toward the batter was in a 3d grid. Now if you have a tv with a 40ms input lag, how much earlier in the ball’s approach to the plate do you have to press the button versus someone on a monitor with a 10ms Input lag? How far has that ball travelled in 30ms? Could it be the difference between a homerun and a pop up? Probably. It’s still possible to achieve desired outcomes, in theory, but you have to push the button very early.

Finally upgraded from an 8 year old 24 inch tv a couple weeks into the game. Got me a BenQ EL2870U 28 inch HDR 4K Gaming Monitor. The difference, especially online, has been amazing.

I’m thinking of a TCL tv which is supposed to have around 14 ms of input lag. I know monitors can get even better, but I’m not sure I’m ready to give up couch gaming...
Thanks for the replies, gents.
I’ve played on a 55 inch TCL for the last 3 years, make World Series regularly. I can vouch for TCL.
Is yours the 4 series, 5, or 6?
It’s a 55S405 model

TCL tvs are great for gaming and inexpensive if you prefer tv over monitor.

Yes this! I just got the 4 series 50 inch for like $240 at walmart. Was turning on fastballs like it was nothing on HOF. 12 ms input lag. I have been playing on TCL since '17 and always make WS

I've played on game mode the past couple years on a much older Samsung. I did the thing where you name the HDMI output to PC. Not sure if I see a difference. What should I be seeing?

Went 26-2 on a 50 inch TV i got in 2016
That’s really impressive. What kind of tv is it?
Samsung
If it was a Samsung Ks8000 that puts you at about 20ms input lag, which isn’t the best, but isn’t terrible at all. Is that what you currently play on?
How would you say the following is?
80% Response Time - 7.5 ms
100% Response Time - 19.1 msThat’s what appears on Rtings for my Samsung 65MU7500. Despite playing on the PC setting and using game mode, I couldn’t make it out of the low 800s. I then dusted off my BenQ this morning and went undefeated on my way to the WS.

No
Oh. But did you go 26-2 on Mlbts 20 or an earlier iteration? 26-2 is great no matter which version of the show you’re playing, but this year, in particular, has extremely small timing windows. And with the increased pitch speeds, it puts tv users with an input lag of above 20ms or so at an extreme disadvantage.
Im currently 26-2 on MLB the show 20. Check the game history. I dont lose.
Skepple, is this your other account?

Congrats. I really think they geared this game for monitor users with 5 to 10 ms input lag. I know that 20ms is still super fast, but the timing windows are so small that every ms matters. With all the frustration I had with the show 19, at least I could make contact on HoF.

Anyone able to help me with this?

What is the ideal input lag we are trying to Achieve to be able to be competitive? 20ms or below?
