So I wrote to San Diego Studios and asked them to add the feature where the catcher can get tricked by the runner at the plate and their response was that they try to keep the game as realistic as possible. So know I’m wondering , are women in the MLB realistic? Cause they sure as hell are promoting the creating female player feature a lot lol

And since they want to be realistic, why not let hitters charge the mound after getting hit by pitch

The answer to your first is, there are females playing college baseball right now and are expected to enter the draft when eligible for it.
To your second- MLB doesn't allow it.

    1. I am not sure I even know what you mean by that.
    2. I am amazed that you even got a response.

I think we need to understand and accept that the management at SDS is heavily invested in political virtue signaling. Putting women in the game is a virtue signal -- "Hey! Look at me, see how open minded and friendly to women I am!"

Of course, baseball has never outrightly banned women from the game, which of course the game did to black Americans and foreign players for many years. That's why, given the reality, I applauded the inclusion of the Negro League players while I think the inclusion of female players is an empty virtue signal. There have been many women who tried to reach MLB rosters, but they were not able to. There are hundreds of highly talented players on domestic and foreign professional and collegiate teams for every single player who cracks an MLB roster for even a single day.

It is the clear distinction between honoring people who in reality never got a fair break, vice engaging in empty gestures devoid of actual meaning and significance.

So you applaud the inclusion of the Negro Leagues but reject the inclusion of a player who actually played in the Negro Leagues. Were the Negro Leagues "Virtue Signaling" back in the late 40s or early 50s when they let her play?

It has been such a non-issue in this years game that I am shocked people still complain about it. Does anyone even use Toni Stone in ranked? The only other place you can use a female is RTTS so you don't have to see them if you don't want to.

    Olivia Pichardo?
Last recorded batting average of .128 for the 2024 season? Is that who you're referring to?

@Dolenz_PSN It is clearly woke nonsense. It’s one thing highlighting the stars of the negro leagues when some moved on to be stars in the MLB. It’s another thing to highlight a woman who was never good in that league and a gender that has never sniffed the major leagues. The issue for me is that they clearly spent the majority of their time and resources doing it when no asked for it and it’s mostly irrelevant. This game has a lot more pressing issues and this year’s development cycle was wasted. Those female college players are a publicity stunt and if any of the get drafted, it will also be a publicity.

And you came to that conclusion how?

Are we assuming that they took programmers away from the gameplay engine to put breasts on a character model and write a storyline in RTTS? Yes, they added in hair physics but with the number of male players sporting long hair these days that was kind of needed anyway.

I highly doubt that it took the amount of effort you seem to think it did. I also believe that without Toni Stone we would have the same exact game we have today anyway. Because, other than the player model, hers is just another card with attributes like any other player. 1 player out of probably 1,500 total (that's like 0.06%). And I would say her attributes are no more unrealistic than the many draft players or pipeline players who get boosted stats.

Don't think so,believe the one I heard about was a pitcher.havent really followed any of it.
Will they be good enough to be drafted?and if so actually make it through the minors to play in mlb?
Who knows.i do think MLB is trying to get out in front of it in case it does happen

Well, to be honest, SDS are at the mercy of MLB so yes, in the future it could be forced on them. It may not be likely, but it is possible.

@Dolenz_PSN Well, then what is the excuse for no big name new legends and largely unchanged gameplay? No new modes. What other improvements were made from last years game? Where else did their time and resources go?

@PAinPA_PSN She was the first D1 woman. She’s not a starter and frankly terrible and doesn’t deserve a roster spot.

Where are those things any year? What improvements were made from 22 to 23, or 21 to 22?

I've been around long enough that some years we don't get splashy big name legends or new game modes. What was the last new mode we got? Co-op? How many years ago was that.

Maybe I am wrong, but other than her in game model, I just don't see her presence as being resource intensive. As I said, when we play the game she is just another card with the same set of attributes that dictate her play.

It could be that I am wrong but it is one of those things neither of us will ever know with 100% certainty because SDS won't tell us.

@Dolenz_PSN Negro leagues and storylines last year. Co op the year before. Mini seasons before that. Improved gameplay from year to year before this year. McGwire and Sosa last year. Jeter and Randy recently. This was by far the most disappointing year in terms of new legends and improvements. I’ve been playing this game since before it was the show.

Fair point. I guess I don't put as much stock into those legend introductions so I don't remember them all. While I would love some of my favorite Cardinals added in, a few legends as a general rule doesn't move the needle for me very drastically.

I still don't believe for a second that adding Toni Stone is the cause of the issues this year.

I've been playing since 2006 or maybe 2007 as I know I had a PSP version originally.

There was also midgets. The best we have is Altuve. Why can't we have midgets or MC Hammer as a child? They too played professionally.
Animals have played professional baseball but we don't have cards for animals do we? Why not. We should. They were playing wether YOU remember them or not.

Shoot, there is an entire televised league for children. Why aren't we playing MLB Little League the Show? Kids played baseball too didn't they? and they work very hard to do so. Like super duper mega hard work and effort! Ground breaking work you might say!
