I didn't play last year. Are these card restrictions for S2 only on Ranked? Or does it mean I can't use them vs CPU?
Pretty sure it's online only so Ranked, BR, and Events
-
@IrishFist412 funny, your game history says otherwise, I don't know why you people act like we can't look anything up. Keep lying though if it makes you feel better

Thanks, I had figured that had to be the case.

And also probably for the new TA conquest map for season 2 and probably TA mini seasons that you can't use season 1 cards
-
@IrishFist412 Thanks again … So, P5s, cards you like…. obviously in ranked … That is what I meant with some special things, like theme teams.
The thing I do not get is probably guys that are using ranked for competitive purposes. I don‘t see anybody using (say) a 94 in MLBTS21 when we have autumn …
I actually come to the conclusion that the complaints are only from theme team / p5-people … That is legit, but I don‘t thing that this is a majority (which does not make the opinions less viable …).
But maybe @Catman9186_PSN has an additional view
It may disappoint some, but I do not see the change happening this year. That would ruin the new concept for 24.
last on this: 21 was the best concept… longer power creep, (no restrictions … for you guys ), better collection system … SDS went another route.
Maybe 25 will have another change. As it stands now my best advice for 25 for you guys would be to hold out on preordering/buying until you know and continue giving feedback.

@xxfrystealerxx Last year was only ranked. Events always have restrictions and probably will have season-restrictions (they did not always have one). BR did not have any restrictions and SDS did not say it will have this year

What do you guys mean by earn WC spots?
They're not automatically available? Here is the quote from SDS on the live stream
"yes obviously not in season 1 but every season after season 1 there will be wild cards and to make things even better this year we'll have up to four wild card slots in subsequent Seasons after you know after season one four wild cards yes but we will want to say that the number of wild cards can vary from season to season so be on the lookout on how you can earn and unlock those wild card slots".
Notice that we are not guaranteed 4 every season and the fact that they said you had to unlock them.
It will be interesting to see how they do this. If they bury them deep enough in the XP path they become far less relevant.

The complaints are coming from the impact of having something taken away from you against your control.
Many gaming companies feel to consider psychological impacts. Things look fine on paper but in practice it causes people to feel upset, even if it may be irrational. So yes, you can point out that people would cycle in new cards anyway but people dont like not being able to choose when they do it.The exp track this year is a perfect example of this. On paper it was fine, and people seem to be mostly on pace now to get there. But in practice it pissed people off because they had an irrational reaction to not getting xp when capped, even though the xp track is just one of many ways to progress. But it shouldnt have been an unexpected reaction, thats just how gamers are.

Prediction: people will complain loudly about it
If they were smart they would have 2 at the start ant the other two unlocked by the time TA 2 part 2 comes out but I highly doubt its that fast

This is me 100%…When I spend hundreds of hours grinding to earn & then grinding to P5 through everything from Ranked to Conquest, I admit I get attached to certain players. And when SDS takes away my ability to play with the card I EARNED and then forcing me to grind more just to earn the ability to use the card again…It does make me feel like an abused slave quite honestly.

@YOSHI24 Every card game ie Yu-Gi-Oh, MTG, Pokemon etc does this. Why? Because it forces the player into buying the newer cards as the old ones run out. Standard rotations in magic have been milked to the ground and playerbase diminished. This kind of gameplay is aimed at ONE thing only, profits. I actually could find myself defending this IF the game didn't come out every year rendering EVERY cars you buy fu(k1ng useless. It's all digital and you don't get anything back from it. At least with card games you KEEP what you buy.
Seasons are a way to stay profitable. Not friendly to the gamer. -
@Teak2112 if they were smart they wouldn't play the game in the first place. It's a cash grab. Nothing more. Look into the history of card games that have seasons. It's for profit. Not for the gamer.

Safest prediction ever.

It’s truly a slap in the face for all who took the time to honestly complete their survey of last year’s game.
Tell me about it. I don't recall remotely suggesting anything like this, let alone suggesting it would be a good idea

Im going to be real bummed not being able to use all of my cubbies. This is has been the most fun ive had in years with the cubs players and captain boosts. Oh well…looking forward to seeing how many wc spots we get to start
-
College football coming in July has potential to wreck this format they used
-
honestly, I was fine with last years model where you could use the previous seasons' players in the current season with the WC spot being used for cards that were 2+ seasons removed from the current season.
The setup this year blows IMO.
That said, instead of WC spots being available in the XP Path I hope they allow us to purchase them. The popcorn value from the ensuing outrage would be glorious lol

The difference was that last years seasons were shorter, sometimes half as long as the current setup. In the end there is a small difference in how long you can use the cards.
Two seasons under the current setup would keep all season 1 players viable into September (Essentially the entire real baseball season), and if that is the case the you may as well do away with the concept of seasons all together.
I am not the biggest fan of the current setup but it is not hard to see why they did not keep the same format with the longer seasons.
