Your plans for playing 2024

You’ll probably still get the bosses through Gameplay XP playing those 2 modes. Then you can use them when you jump into DD.

@fubar2k7
Since '15 MLBTS, my approach to this game was drop a bit of $$$ on this game early on, invest in the cards that I thought were worth it, then grind the rest of the way. In '23 however, my usual approach did not work very well.In '23, you need to approach every season as a new game year. So my approach was not financially or time sustainable for me. Spending a lot of time grinding for cards was not satisfying in many cases, as by the time I earned many of the cards I wanted, they expired shortly after. Very frustrating.
-
Other than 11 Event cards (which I have million stub orders placed), got every card.
… except for the Golden Egg (still haven’t played BR this year)
-
@arvcpa_MLBTS I did exactly that coming from 21 to 22. Less flipping, more playing … more fun.
I grinded a lot in 23 offline to get collections don … Since they gave online players more ways to grind I will hopefully be able to play online much more -
I'll play, but only because there's a slow period coming up for game releases. Not going to take it super serious, just play when I'm bored and have extra time on my hands. Starting a new job at the end of the month which should keep me busy most of the time.

I'm a little burned out on DD from heavy grinding on the 20-23 seasons. Like a lot of folks, I'm worried that 24 will just be a straight cut-and-paste from 23. I will still order the game. I'll still play. However, I will scale back.
In 21 and 22, I was able to get every card. For 23, I set out with that goal, but by mid-summer I realized it would be almost impossible. I do flip cards, but I ran out of steam in 23.
For 24, I'm going to take my time. I'll play the modes I like - primarily BR, but Events and RS if there are cards I want to earn. I'm going to attempt to do NO flipping. I'll just take what the game gives me.
I've got more important things to do this year. It's my 25th wedding anniversary, my son is getting married in April, and I have a milestone birthday this year. Rhymes with "mixty". Ugh. Plus, I'm traveling more and more for work.
Anyway - are you guys changing the way you approach 24 compared to prior years?
I'm going to take it as it comes. I may do less spreadsheets, but I'll have to see how I feel in the moment. I didn't flip as much this year as I did the year before. I tried to keep around $300K unless I wanted a card, then I would flip to get the funds. I still ended up with over $800K at the end of the year, so I've been buying cards and equipment like crazy (some at buy now prices because, well, as they say, you can't take it with you). I'm going to take that same approach this year.
Mixty isn't a bad age. I'm dreading Mixty-Jive (just a couple of houses away) when I'll be forced onto Medicare. With a genetic disease, public healthcare isn't the best.
Used to sell Health Insurance. What type of coverage do you have now? Can I ask what genetic disease?

@xElRojo44x_MLBTS I get where you and everyone else who dislikes any aspect comes from. I owned my own business so I never even touched DD other than a handful of games and just played franchise. I’m lucky that I can devote as much time as I wish to playing the game.

When you get there,search out your local senior citizen group(for us it was the Philly council of aging) your area will have a similar group,they had a broker that helped the seniors with Medicare enrollment, really hooked my mom up, cause you practically need 10 years of college to understand that stuff.

I have a ton of life changes this year so I am just doing gamepass and not preordering. Will casually play here and there. I have played enough in the last 3 years to take a break from it

Close to it. Lol. You do have to pass a huge test and take yearly certification. But once you get your head wrapped around it; it's like riding a bike.
I haven't sold since 2019. But I remember enough basics. Just need to read up on ant yearly changes.
I can't officially sell, as I let my license lapse, and I would have to take the big test again, but I can help direct people into what questions they should ask.

@arvcpa
I could basically say ditto. In 21 I completed everything except Alomar which haunts my dreams. In 22 I completed and collected everything. 23 that was the goal and got burned out. I really didn’t understand all the frustration with this game. But it really does become a copy and paste with slight alterations. The. Again, sets and seasons were a bad idea. I hope that’s over. 99s on day 1, also a bad idea. The game was so stale by summer with 3 99’s for a third of the league.
I think my big difference this year is I’m gonna try online more.

@Ericulous1
They used the words "Seasons" and "Sets" during their stream today... So unfortunately, it appears as though that format is back for '24.Now, I just hope they improve on that. Giving us wildcards for a Hitter and Pitcher, along with being able to use any Set card with a Captain boost, would be welcomed changes.

So unfortunately, it appears as though that format is back for '24.I didn't hear Sets, but my dog was barking his fool head off for part of it. The context of Seasons I heard was in relation to Storylines with 24 being in Season 2.
Given that, I wouldn't be surprised if they are back.

I'm on a month break, to get the hunger again. I need to 'miss' the sport again. I pre-ordered so i'll be there for early access.
-
I played 23' less than i played 19-22. I grinded Set 1/2, skipped most of set 3/4 (i didn't play from August-October (burnout) then i grinded all of Set 5 and enjoyed playing with everyone in Set 6. But by Set 6, it was stale/toast not interesting.
In 24', i bought the Negro Leagues edition as i'm black and after visiting the museum in KC, i'm all in. But i really hope they reformat sets and seasons and i'm sure they will. Night 1 i'll probably buy $100 worth of stubs and try to flip what i can early.

Probably will play a lot up until July, NCAA Football is coming back, It will be the game of the summer.
