I’m extremely jealous coming from the perspective of a Met fan however I love the fit and think the Dodgers just tapped into a bottomless pit of treasure and talent and let’s just sit back and see if they have the front office suaveness to make good on these two incredibly epic ball players .
My guess will be that they do in fact have exactly what’s needed to capitalize and have them a dynasty in the second half of this decade.
By the way y’all know I hate the Dodgers. I’ve never forgiven them for the NLCS in 1988. Talk about an unfulfilled dynasty my Mets should’ve rolled from 1986 - 1990 at the very least but instead they peed away so many of the key pieces that would’ve made them dynastic. The Dodgers are deeeep and savvy enough to be truly incredible. The chemistry IS there especially with the emergence of “Frookie” (I hope I just coined that term but if ‘Brangelina’ exists im sure ‘Frookie’ prob does also) seeing such a friendship between two stars tells me that the clubhouse there must be quite special and that’s where championships begin in my opinion. They certainly can be LOST there

So much hate for the Dodgers. Why don’t you make some Yamamoto voodoo dolls and curse him to become the next Dice-K?

@BxnnyMxn_ I’m a Mets fan as well. Really wanted him. If Cohen really has a bunch of money, when will he spend it like we’ve talked about?!

When will he spend it? Didn't he spend a ton last offseason? The Mets had the highest payroll in 2023 and not by a small margin.

I don't hate the Dodgers. Even for '88, or the Rick Monday HR. I wanted the Expos to win so bad, then. The Dodgers originated in my born borough of Brooklyn, and my dad was a big fan of them.
I hope Yam dominates in MLB, with a 1 ERA 🤪 That would be something.
Dave Roberts is the manager, though. I loved him as a player, but I think he could screw things up. Who knows.
Hating and being jealous will get us nowhere, because Arizona got to a WS with maybe 1 star, or budding star in Corbin, so we'll see how it unfolds.

Meanwhile, Mariners fans watching their team get progressively worse because ownership needed money to buy out their TV network… sigh.

@halfbutt 😔 that sucks about Seattle. They need to win the WS at least once. It’s going to be Dodgers in the playoffs every year and honestly, it’ll get boring. I still smile when I think about the Diamondbacks this year. They made the Dodgers look bad. D-backs have built a strong team so we’ll see.

Dbacks are my NL team now, since Geno and Sewald and Marte are all former Mariners.

I’m so starved for impactful off-season moves. Thank god for hockey!

@Dolenz For this offseason, I mean. We’ve had our mouthes watering all year chomping at the bit for an Ohtani or Snell contract. Not last season, but now. I’m talking about with Stearns.

@Dolenz You just seem to be a brooding Cards fan that’s depressed because you suck after Molina and Wainwright left.

I’m sorry you have a trash GM and a manager who relies on government help, so you have no hope.

Only finish is WS winners. That is some pressure. They get to feel what Astros fans have felt in recent years. Sucks

Seattle had their shot during the Griffey Jr. ERA and came up short. Maybe they will get better soon, maybe they won't.

Nobody "needs" to win a world series. As a Cubs fan I don't recall anyone showing any sympathy over 108 years of futility. While it would have been nice to have support around the country during the bad times I take great satisfaction when I see the end of the 1984 NLCS and the Padres fans chanting "40 more years! 40 more years!". Well 40 years have come and gone and the Cubs got their title and now have 3. Meanwhile SD is still 0 for the franchise.

You mean like cheering on a stolen world series? Ironically over the Dodgers?

The thing is, they came one game short of the post last year. They had a better record than the Dbacks, and took 3/4 from Texas in the last series. They ARE good, just a piece or two away.

That’s what makes this off-season so hard to endure.

Salary dumping Suarez who only was set to make 11 million, no QO for Teoscar, dealing Kelenic, etc.

Owners that can’t afford decent players should just sell the team to someone who can.

@halfbutt Well I don't know what the M's have in the minors, but perhaps someone to replace Suarez? He is a 32 year old player who has leveled off at .232 for a couple of years now isn't a huge loss to me. Teoscar is also 31 and declining numbers since leaving Toronto.

Regarding Kelenic, he finally put up some numbers after two awful partial seasons. Perhaps they think he hit his ceiling and wanted to sell as high as they could? Modern players, combined with the average contract now seem have performances drop south like an anchor. in 2016 the Cubs were touting Kris Bryant as the next Ron Santo. Three years later and he peaked, and just a few years after that is a non factor, playing outfield on a terrible Rockies team. Maybe Mark Grace was the better number 17 after all?

Truth is all owners can afford any of these players if they wanted to. With the money that even a "poor" owner (over half the league is owned by billionaires) not to mention the insane media revenue. I don't know if the current owner for them is just pocketing the money like some do, or just waiting to get someone better suited for the team.

Wasn't it just last spring where Seattle was very active in the market? I could be wrong, but I would not get too upset in late December, regardless of what team it is. With LA beginning to buy up all the big names making anything look cheap it can be discouraging.

I get a lot of stuff emailed to me from a friend in NY, and you would think the Mets owner never tried to sign anyone the way their fans rant. Then let's not forget MLB's biggest anchor around a team's neck, guaranteed contracts. Nobody wants to sign the next Syndergaard and pay a guy 13 million to be awful and dumped on Cleveland for a player that will be a free agent in 24.

I don't have any words of encouragement, but as a long suffering Cubs fan I understand what it is like to feel the rug pulled out from under me.

    Haha! I love it!
I do agree with you on the anchor contracts, which is why the Kelenic deal was so bad. He was under control for another few years, and dealing him just created another hole in the OF.

Somehow, M’s are still projected to win 87.5 games this year (which is probably a bit generous) so I guess we’ll be enjoying a lot of 1-0 and 2-1 wins…

Do you think Bellinger will actually get 200 million from someone?

Bellinger won't get close to 200 million due to the fact that he has only had 2 good seasons, last year in my opinion was a fluke due to the fact that it seemed like the balls were flying out of Wrigley Field, he needs to go some place where it is harder to hit to actually prove his worth, he also just keeps changing his swing and runs very hot and cold very often

I think he is a Scott Boras client though, right?

I bet someone will give him what he wants. Blue Jays are probably dying to prove they are a big player and are still [censored] hurt from believing they were going to land Ohtani, so I bet he goes there.

Book it. Dodgers won't win a World Series with Ohtani.
