I still believe that SDS has a plan for this. Maybe they open up two wild card slots or maybe there are upgrades to some of those Set 1 players that we love.
I'm thinking we'll just have the one slot for wild card... that's how the game is currently designed... you have to make a tough decision... do you use all Set 2, Set 3 and Core cards or do you replace one of those guys with a Set 1 card...
also if you are like me and haven't finished TA1 and anything else that has Set 1 cards you can still use the cards in the various modes... not directed at you but why does everyone think the sky is falling because Set 1 cards won't be eligible Ranked Seasons outside of the Wild Card when Season 3 starts?
Everyone complains about using people using the same lineups, and I feel like doing the Season/Set system like this will allow for people to take out the Set 1 cards and we'll see diverse lineups again until people pinpoint the best Set 3 cards to use at which point we'll then hear about same lineups again and Set 2 cards expiring until Season 4 starts... gotta love this vicious cycle... lol

The game died a long time ago. It’s like 30th on Xbox it was top 10 all of last year. This game will go down with 18 as the worst version ever.

the concept of sets isnt completely awful. I find the problem with SET 2 was more to do with the lack of cards i wanted to use in the TA and even bosses. Hardly any had appeal to use over set 1 cards. (yes some of the pack cards did, but not the program cards)

Or simply if Griffey Sr was unlocked first in the program to be used as a boost for the other cards during the grind and Griffey Jr was a 99 at the end. The programs don’t seem well planned at all and just thrown together haphazardly.

Those things are not in the EA playbook which SDS has unfortunately adopted this year.

SDS gets new players in waves and if you started the game late in previous years, you would not have access to some one the best reward cards while also being at a disadvantage on almost all future big collection. The way it is set up now, that player who starts playing at the start of Season 3 can grind and put together a team that can compete while also being eligible to get the next reward (assuming they do not keep adding to CORE for the reward). This model also gets into the pockets a bit more as those Chase cards and Diamond Duo cards will be an upgrade that a lot of players will want.
I believe that supporting all consoles verses just PS5 has greatly changed the overhead cost SDS. It costs more to support 3 separate consoles (counting PS as one). They had to find additional revenue streams and digital currency is the ideal way to make that revenue. I get why it was done and I think it would have worked better had 99's not been available from day one, but how much fun is it for a newbie to just on-line and get demolished by a veteran player rocking way better cards? Does that keep the new player vested? I had losing access to my favorite players, but if you give me a better version of the player I love then I am going to be excited.

Stop crying, they expire for everyone. Plus you can still use them vs the cpu. Plus you get a wild card.

Including yourself. All it took was a quick look at your history to see you using Turner, Chipper, Ruth, etc.
Which ironically means you grinded more than I did for set 1 cards because I don't have any of those players.

Alot weren’t around for the original DD when it first came out.
Generic names, 30, 35 and 40 game careers, spending stubs to full boost their attributes. That was alot of fun man. I still think that was way better than what we have now

My entire lineup, rotation, bench and bullpen are Core and Set Two
Other than Henderson I don't really think there is any player who cannot easily be replaced with set 2 or whatever comes next.
Is that Rickey, Gunnar, or Billingham?
