Ozzie Smith 99 power?
-
It makes about as much sense as some of the secondary positions they gave to some of the program cards.

In no world ever should a guy with 28 HR over a 19 year career have 99 power.

They are wasting money paying for a hall of famers rights otherwise. An accurate Ozzie smith card would never be usable in this game.

And Pudge and Posada shouldn’t have 2B eligibility. I don’t disagree with you, I'm just saying both have the same degree of ridiculousness.

At least they’ve played at least an inning there. Lindor hasn’t played anywhere but SS majors or minors but still has 2B and 3B as secondaries

I know why they did it. It’s designed so that defense doesn’t really matter it’s all about the offense. I’m pretty sure they’d lose a lot of gamers if it wasn’t like that.

Maybe players that are more defensive orientated will be more appreciated once the shift gets banned next year.

I'm real life, sure. Almost everyone at higher levels in this game already has the shift turned off

Did they give Ozzie catcher secondary? I mean, why not??
-
I find it funny that so many people are focused on this. This game has so many inflated/fake attributes. It hasn't been realistic for a long time.
They've made the game pretty much all about power so it only makes sense that they at least give us a usable Ozzie card.
-
I'll continue to say it but if you don't complain about made up attributes for Future Stars cards or ridiculously buffed Topps Now cards for single game performances then it is kind of late to start complaining now.
Just consider Ozzie's card a Topps Now card for one of the games where he did hit a HR. I would say Game 5 of the 1985 NLCS but that was against a rightie.
I'd also venture to guess that the only people who will use this card are Cardinal fans who would prefer to use it on their theme team over a Future Star who has not played a game above AA yet.
-
Power attribute is not determined by home runs.it is by iso pwr (slg minus avg) which counts all XBH. That being said his iso's are pretty low too, even the splits.
but i have to wonder why it matters, any who are stating their "dislike" wouldnt have given him any ABs anyway. (no matter what his attributes looked like) -
If the almighty Jordan Walker with his 107/120 power and 0 MLB at-bats can exist then so can a juiced Ozzie Smith. Time to stop overthinking a fantasy mode in a video game.
If nobodies can be made into studs so should legitimate Hall of Famers.

No but if they give everyone secondaries now they should’ve given Schwarber catcher secondary.

But this is the way secondaries should actually be handled. An athletic shortstop like Lindor can without a doubt play 2nd or 3rd. Even though he never plays elsewhere, those are his “secondary” positions. Pudge and Posada have it slapped on there is just because someone was able to go read Baseball Reference and go “oh Jorge played an inning there and Pudge played two”. Just because someone played an inning or even a game somewhere, does not mean it was there secondary position and just because someone never plays a different position doesn’t mean they don’t have a secondary.

You can’t have it both ways, either they played it and have a secondary or they didn’t and they shouldn’t. There should be a cut off of innings or something 1 inning or 4 innings shouldn’t justify giving a secondary. Ripken’s finest doesn’t have a secondary and he was athletic enough to start and end his career at 3B.

He has 99 power and that speed and fielding? Thank you, SDS

Jimmy Rollins lite?

Because fielding does not matter.
In strat o matic these guys would be a 5 and make errors on fielding checks at a 70% rate. Not here.
Insanity. -
He gets 99 power, because Pedro gets 103mph, because if you win a batting contest you get 125 power, because contact hitters and pitch to contact pitchers don’t matter.
They can’t balance the game properly
