Future Stars Hate

So I’ve seen a lot of hate about how many future stars they keep adding to the game, and I understand the argument that they’re better than most current players and legends cards. I just grabbed the Corbin Carroll headliner from the free scouting report pack and he’s instantly been better than Griffey and Mantle were for me. After I unlocked Carroll I saw the video of him running around the bases like Usain Bolt. Oneil Cruz God card drops then he exit velos his way into the record books. It’s exciting seeing new guys burst onto the scene and why not give them a little juice as an intro.
-
Yea I’m ok with with it. I wonder if there rights are cheaper than legends or the same. Gunner Henderson hit a home run last night in his debut. Some of these guys are going to be good players.
-
Have there always been this many FS cards? Last year was my first time playing and I don't remember them, outside of the Wander boss card
-
2017 - 48 Future Stars, only 14 of which were
2018 - 38, 11 were
2019 - only 8, all
2020 - 56, all
2021 - 43, all , 7 Classics
2022 (so far) - 58, all , 6 classics -
The future stars hate club has been doing their thing for about 3 years now. Just ignore them. Clearly SDS already does
-
I like it, though I feel this year has been a lot more than usual, I love the 30 for a team affinity essentially right before all stars come. i also like though or feel that theres less crappy legends like a 91 griffey, then 95 etc of the same person, so yeah use a future star there sure. I just feel like theres more and someonne above I think showed theres almost 60 which is a lot vs legends
-
The Future Stars hate isn’t directed at the cards themselves. It’s more about “why are we getting a 95 Bryson Stott when we don’t even have a decent Jimmy Rollins yet?” They want to play with their favorites instead of being served cards for players they don’t know yet.
-
If nothing else it keeps the game fresh with new faces. Otherwise everyone would have the same team of legends and current superstars. One thing to consider is the trend in baseball prospects is more 5 tool players. Obviously a video game favors these guys with not just hitting but speed and defense.
-
I like getting to know some of these names. I think it's cool when they make their MLB debuts if you have some connection to them. Garrett Mitchell has been one of my best players this year and he got called up this past series.
-
I’m ok with it, and I have some issues with it. At the end of the day die hard fans who know their team know the future of the franchise and get to play with them today. My frustrations like everyone is why are they better than a 99 Griffey? But with that said my buy order for Fransisco Alverez just completed. He’s going to catcher for a bit
Also to be fair there are some legends that have 99 cards and I get it is for that moment. But let’s be real a finest Brian Roberts 99, he was a very good player but elite? No

I don't think SDS has to get their rights, like they do with legends, because they are part of the MLBPA

Everyone still does have the same team of superstars and legends, now they just all get to add the same two FS cards to their line ups. It’s not their fault, SDS creates a META, so in order to stay competitive everyone has the same META line up and rotation. Scrap the arcade attributes and the stupid quirks e.g. outlier and you would start to see more line up diversity.

I don't think it has anything to do with rights being cheaper. With minor leaguers being included in the game as of MLB 19 or 20 at launch its easier to use these guys and instead of having to wait for a promo we can get these guys throughout the year.
Brett Baty for example has a common LS card in the game (I haven't checked to see if it was upgraded following his debut) and I'm positive other players much like him had LS cards in the game prior to their MLB debuts.
-
I like them. FS, AS, and MA have been my favorite cards this year. I think bc they are unique cards that will not reappear year after year other than a few flashbacks. Some people act like they just want to use the same 9 cards year after year

Problem is that they give them major juice not just a little. They could make a card for every minor leaguer for all I care but they should not be rated higher than anyone in the HOF. FS shouldn't be higher than a 90 IMO.

So make cards no one cares to use then?

I don't care to use them. They are just filler for the game anyway to me. Part of a collection to get Brett or McCutchen.
-
I don’t hate them. I also see a purpose for them to get people be aware of the stars on the rise. A lot of people just know the superstars in baseball. That being said I do think their stats are a little unreal. More than a little actually. Kinda glad they are boosted though because no one wants cards that are unusable.

Some of these guys are already better than Harold Baines, and he’s in the HOF. Under your rules, we have to wait 30 years for a useable Gunner Henderson card? That’s crazy talk
