May's POTM
-
Who's your prediction so far for May's lightning card?
-
Goldschmidt has to be the front runner whether this community likes 1B cards or not

It is tough to predict since they showed last month that they are willing to go against the leagues actual choices.
We have the same issue as last month where most of the Top 10 already have diamond cards. The exception being Goldy and it is very likely he gets upgraded next roster update.
-
Now that it’s probably going to be a 95, I wouldn’t count out some high diamonds. I could see them not touching Machado this update and giving it to him.
-
I could see it being Goldschmidt. I would love for it to be Trevor Story if he stays on this tear he's on right now. Love his cards in this game.
-
Here is the Top 10 position players in May based on WAR as of this morning
- Aaron Judge
- Rafael Devers
- Paul Goldschmidt
- Mookie Betts
- Manny Machado
- Jose Altuve
- Mike Trout
- Tim Anderson
- Taylor Ward
- Kyle Tucker
Trevor Story is 21st due to a low batting average (.229)
A lot can change in a week though.
-
Really doubt it’s Story considering he just got a 91 Topps that would be better than his POTM considering it’s a SS with better fielding/arm/reaction/speed compared to a POTM that would be a 2B with a weak arm and slower.
-
I'd like to see them find a way to keep live series card relevant throughout the game cycle. I have Machado at parallels 5 and it's possible that a POTM could render it useless.

Solid point, but if they upgrade his LS like they should he could be low 90's (92 maybe 93). But then with parallel AND perks, that would make his LS still better.
-
I’d love Mookie or Story to put either one at 2B
-
Rhys Hoskins is my guess. Seems like this is Phillies the Show this year and SDS love them a first baseman. Also he is like the 15th best player this month which seems about right for this selection

POTM per MLB is likely to be Judge atm, but like I also noted with J-Ram in April, they probably won't give a guy with a high diamond a POTM card. I'd also expect Judge to go up to 92 or 93 on Thursdays update as well.
So for actual in-game card, probably Devers or Goldy (Yay another 1B) as of right now.
-
Could also be a pitcher…nobody mentioning that.
-
All I know is if Machado doesn’t get a boost this Upcoming Roster update it has to be because his getting a POTM. His been arguably the best player in baseball this year so I think his getting something down the road maybe they wait so they can justify giving him a juiced up 97-99 card.
-
I expect it to be Jose Altuve. From prior seasons predicting these things, I found that wrc+ correlates best to POTM selections - better than WAR. And Altuve last time I checked was 3rd in the month in wrc+. Then you factor in positional considerations (1B was last month) and there you have it.

Where do you get 15th. Based on WAR he is not even top 75 and based on WRC he is not in the top 70.

Currently 4th behind Judge, Goldschmidt and Devers
Of course everything in this thread is conjecture because as I said a lot can happen in a week. An unexpected hot or cold streak could change the look of things.

Give me a Patrick Wisdom card with 25 vision and 120 power.
