Do I have to buy a monitor now?

I play on a Monitor and they have the timing window so messed up. Your not missing out on anything with how this game is currently playing.
I didn't think the day would come that you and I would agree on something, yet here we are.

100% correct. The timing window is beyond screwed up at this point.

I’ve been there buddy, look for offspeed; take fastballs.
Yup. The opposite of real baseball. Lol
I will say that in 19 playing on a monitor is WAY better than a tv.
That’s what my friends been telling me. But I had to get priorities done first which was buy my books for school. How much are good monitors that are cheap?
This is what I play on.
AOC CQ32G1 31.5" Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor, Quad HD 2560x1440, VA panel, 4 ms Response Time, MPRT, 144Hz, FreeSync, DisplayPort/HDMI/VGA, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HKM16DT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JHlGEbD091SF3
The only thing I’d recommend is looking for a monitor with a 1ms response time. That’s going to make the biggest difference. Also decide if you want to play at 1440p or 1080p. You can save $ by going 1080p but the game will obviously look slightly worse resolution wise.
1ms response time has nothing to do with input lag. Stop spreading wrong information.
Not saying it does. Actually read what I wrote. Response time is how quickly the pixels change. If the pixels change faster, then you can determine if the pitch is a strike or not BEFORE you actually hit the button to swing (input). Input lag is ONLY a factor IF you decide to swing.

I’m not sure if that’s true. I think Input lag is how quickly the viewing device processes and displays the content source. For instance, different inputs HDMI 1,2, or 3 might have different input lag on a given tv.

Response time deals with how fast pixels change color and motion blur. Input lag is how long it takes your character to react after a button push. Any decent monitor will have good specs in both areas. The fact that he is telling the guy to get a monitor with 1ms of response time instead of 4ms is just silly. The human eye would never pick up something with that small of a difference.

I bought a Samsung QLED TV and was using that. Thought it was good, but then bought an ASUS gaming monitor. Trying going back to the QLED and was late on everything... couldn’t hit a darned thing. My TV is now for movies and shows only lol

Probably not, no. But in terms of looking for one to buy a 1ms response time monitor will also most likely have the lowest input lag.
From displaylag.com
“Response Time:
Response time governs how long a display takes to display a full pixel from black to white. Manufacturers usually provide this specification through their product brochures and general pages, however they measure it as the amount of time it takes to go from “gray-to-gray” instead.
This is typically shown as ‘1ms’, ‘2ms’, etc on product packaging and information pages. This is NOT input lag, but based on experience, a fast response time (1-2ms) usually does tie into a monitor having low input lag in terms of specs. This GTG number governs the amount of ghosting/motion blur a monitor has, accounting for time it takes for pixels to transition.”

You are right, all we’re saying is the guy asked for the cheapest monitor that would make a difference. Any 10-14 ms display lag with 60hz refresh rate would do. You will find alot of 2-4MS response time monitors with below 14ms of display/input lag. He doesn’t have to dish out extra cash for 1MS response time and 144Hz of refresh rate

Truth is you pretty much always needed a monitor if you wanted to consistently compete online with zone hitting. The kinda good news now is that, outside the top 1% of players, analog and directional is just about on par with zone in the right hands. Lots of folks are able to make WS with either, analog especially.
This isn't true. I'm a consistent WS player who plays on a 55" TV... Just need game mode.

Honestly though with the emergence of 1440p UE Monitors and the continuous focus on 4K monitors at 1080p with 144hz or higher with 1ms response are about as cheap and in some instances cheaper than lower spec monitors due to there being an abundance of them now. What was considered premium just 3-4 years ago is now a very affordable $100-$250 depending on brand and panel.

Nice. Your tv does 13 ms input lag at 1080p and about the same at 2160p. Mine, a Sony x900f, does 40ms at 1080p and 20ms at 2160p. So if we both played on “faster” in the video options, our experience would probably be a little different. I think they say about 15 ms difference is noticeable. I’m not sure if everybody who plays on tvs has input lags as good as yours. I believe your experience is on par with what the developers intended because I believe they designed the game to be played on a monitor.

A lot of tvs now have good input lag. Im about to put 55 inch TCL in my mancave with 11 ms input lag. $268
5 series? I came close to buying the 55" 6 series, but went with a monitor instead which I kinda regret now. I own the 5 series right now but was going to upgrade to the 6
i think im going to get a 4 series actually. The 5 and 6 are even a bit better from like 12 ms with the 4 series to 10 ms with the 6.

Have you played this iteration of the game on those other tvs? Last year was my first year playing and I was able to do ok on HOF in ranked seasons, but this year the timing window is such that I feel I’m behind the eight ball, so to speak, by using my tv.

Well I’m hopeful the timing window gets fixed as a lot of people are having issues right now. The game feels like it was rushed more than normal and has a lot of issues at the moment.
