.Serious question here. How does a dedicated servers fix the issue? I am an old MMO player back to the Everquest days and even though MMOs have dedicated servers you still see lag with other players and rubber banding and such.

I played semi professional Counter-Strike in the early 2000s and dedicated servers are most definitely the way to go in every situation. Now there's dedicated servers that never have any maintenance and are completely free of use, which are most likely garbage. Sounds like what you're describing here. And then there's dedicated servers that you pay a good $100-200 a month for, those are top notch and as latency free as possible. I remember having a constant ping below 10ms in those days which was (and still is) fantastic.
Now I understand that my example is not viable for this game, but there's a lot in between. And that's why I feel your suggestion that it wouldn't fix the issue is not entirely true. -
This game is a 1 v 1 game, not a game where dedicated servers would solve anything.
You need dedicated servers for an "instance based" game. You cap the number of people in a "node" and communicate with the server with your location, your actions etc.
Dedicated doesn't solve ping issues for peer to peer play. Now if you move MLB to a dedicated server environment and support cross play in any form, you'd be asking for more RNG madness than you get today.
SWG, EQ, WoW etc have different communication than MLB. Different things altogether. I think the cost involved would be astronomical.

Just got matched in a HOF RS game against a guy I think was playing in the Australian outback. Horrible lag with like a 2 second delay after you hit the ball. Now, before all you fan boys say anything, yes I was winning 2-1 when he disconnected in the 3rd.
How am I even getting matched with someone like this? There are thousands of people playing and this is the match up the game chooses. Come on man. Connections and match making have to be better than this.
I tried to give him a friendly when the score was 0-0 in the top of 1st after I got the 1st batter out and noticed the severe lag.
I don't understand how there's not some sort of ping based matchmaking. It's infuriating and makes me want to just shut off the game when I get into a connection like that. I'm convinced the person with the horrible connection gets an advantage somehow but I don't understand the technical aspects of it. They should not be allowed to connect to someone unless that person has the same kind of pain. I bet the people with those horrible Burger King connections get tons of people quitting just because they don't want to deal with the lag.

Everyone who's bashing on him.. yes it's always the same old thing but he's not wrong. This game plays horrendously online and it seems as if it's getting worse each year instead of better.
It's just the same old 4-5 fan boys. I don't worry about them.

I would say you do realize the outback thing was a joke but it flew way over your head. Haven't had too many games like that. Shouldn't happen at all is my point.

Anyone else remember before DD when you would go into basically a chat room and you could see everyone's connection and sportsmanship score? Those were the days

They also could set up european and Asian servers, as the game is sold globally this really ain't such a bad idea
