My middle infielders (both diamond defense) have no range and they always move like they're wearing cement shoes
Yeah the only things that matter are speed and arm….given the reaction isn’t below like 70.
If the game decided it’s a seeing eye single…..it’s a seeing eye single regardless of who you have playing defense.
The lack of speed is the one thing that stopped me from taking Banks with my 2nd boss pick.
Don't worry he can dive to cover that ground easy peasy
I’ve got Matt Carpenter at second diving everywhere and I don’t believe he has botched one spectacular diving play.
I wonder if it is better to use slow players and let them dive this year?

First off I am actually a fan of the slip n slide dives. Players actually look like they are diving on dirt and not Velcro. Now, whoever turned the success rate slider all the way up in testing for fun, needs to go back and tone it down a notch. Everyone in this game can make a diving play right now, save that stuff for the good fielders.
Speaking of good fielders. Why is the only distinction between good and bad rated fielders bad jump animations? Any fielder can be prone to weird animations, lolligagging it, and I've even had instances of the 1B not on the bag for a double play ball. That just cannot happen.
Fielder positioning is so random especially OF alignment. The Joey Gallo special is not a normal shift SDS, the data is there for you. Most shifts leave the OF in pretty normal alignment.
You've got to do better, some of these issues are deciding games.
Join the big boys and set your defensive alignment to manual. The auto shift is another crutch for the little billy bunch

There is also zerooooo urgency to turn double plays this year too or you get that awful arm wind up to throw the ball. Lost so many games on turning a double play to try and get out of the inning
-
Diving catches are OP. Bailing out bad defensive cards.

You know you can manually adjust your fielding alignment right? And you can turn off automatic shifting?
Yes and burn pause timer.
Bruh, if burning pause timer is an issue for you...you're not doing it right
-
My favourite is the ball that bounces against the wall and the outfielder crouches and waits for the ball to stop. SMFH
-
Ban the shift and make it where line drives actually fall in front of the fielder. I'm talking about 3 power pitchers who can't bloop anything. This game needs to rework the entire fielding and depth/dimensions of the outfield...
-
I think one could argue that Fielding this year has actually taken a multitude of steps forward, maybe even leaps and bounds.
-
I had an issue just like 2 days ago. I had a routine groundball hit to my 2B, I had an easy track to the ball, then he warped backwards and the ball slowly just rolled right by him. What fun LOL
-
I still love that outfielders "Dive " for a foul ball sometimes by first jumping 4 feet in the air and then trying to move for it...

Then I have to make even more adjustments then I do now. Make sure double play is set up, OF alignment, no doubles alignment. If they set it up in a realistic manner, god forbid since it's a simulation, it wouldn't be an issue.
Let's stop cherry picking one part of the whole statement. The rest of the issues I pointed out are far more important and game breaking. The shift is just a nuisance and an eyesore.

It’s nuts that the animation of a 60 fielding guy coming out of a dive is faster to 1B than a 99 fielder coming out of a backhand grab without diving.

If they would auto shift it for Double plays still after doing this. Yes. But it's annoying to do this for something that should be automatic. I would still want to choose shifts with noone on.

same with OF, they seem to lolligag to balls and then do the longest windup and exaggerated crow hop I've ever seen and it costs bases and runs...regardless of their fielding rating. The infield watches slow rollers too. Between that and hitting right now, this game is bottom tier in gameplay

they need to take auto shift off as default, let us manually set up our own situations that are standard for situations. (maybe they do) but either way auto shift off should be the default to make people at least think a little bit

That's one thing I will agree on that they should have double play shifts automatic but I still think setting that manually is better than having the shift all the time. That is just babysitting it should be a strategy not a foregone conclusion. Not to mention I don't know how many cheap doubles I get to left field when my opponent has the shift on. It hurts them just as often as it helps them but the line drive in the gap right to the shifted outfielder really gets on my nerves

ive noticed good fielders or high reaction fielders cover much more ground.. It seems instead of the first 2 steps looking like slow mo there instant full speed if they are rated high enough for the reflex perk

I love how OF's just lollygag before throwing while guys are advancing. SDS forgot there is some urgency in this game. Fielders move like the devs patching the gameplay.
