theres also never been a live series card at 97 since 17. J-Ram or Nado has to be a lighting card.

I'll gladly admit it if I'm wrong. But a Jram or Arenado would be a complete waste. People seem to think the Buxton card last was a completely juiced monster, when in reality you put those hitting stats on anyone but buxton and the entire community calls it an L. If you are happy with a +10 max attribute Bump for Nado or Jram, who are both guaranteed 99s anyway, instead of Pablo Lopez or Logan Gilbert, then fine. All I know is how they choose player of the month lightning cards is quite literally the most consistent thing SDS does.

Wasn't Buxton a gold (or at most an 85?) last year at the beginning? Guys always had great defense but he only broke out offensively early last year (and missed like 2 months due to injury as well).

EDIT: I also agree that it would be a waste giving a lightning card to a LS 90 diamond.

Lopez or Gilbert probably likely imo. I can see a France/JP Crawford/Rizzo Potm step card/topps now type thing being part of it.

Buxton just went diamond(87) a week before POTM was released. I honestly don't think Jram or Arenado would have been bumped to 90+ if there were any plans to give them the lightning card

That's a good point. Of course I'd love either JRam or Nado but their LS are good for now and we know they'll get better cards as the season progresses. I'm hoping for Logan Gilbert but Pablo would be pretty rad too.

It will be Gilbert or Lopez. Let the LS diamonds be diamonds and diversify.

He was a massive W strictly because he was Buxton. Anyone that wasn't max fielding and speed with the hitting attributes that card had would not have been good. My main point is that this card would not be any sort of significant upgrade over Arenado's or Jrams live series cards

i seem to disagree, a Nado card with great fielding and higher contact would be great along with J-ram, he'd have at least 100s in contact, good power, secondary positions, a gilbert with those pitches would be borderline mid. No one would be that excited with a pitcher with no cutter or a sinker or even outlier. Thats just how this community is.

Lopez has sinker cutter slurve I'm fairly certain. He would be their choice. Just so we are clear it's not that I don't think either of those two deserve the card, is that high end live series cards just don't get the player of the month lightning cards. They have also made it pretty clear that they are scaling back giving out top tier cards too early and either of those two cards throw that idea out the window already. I can truly see them limiting the lightning card to 93 overall. I just think if you have to question whether it would be better to play a Live series card up on inside edge over the main reward of a monthly program, it's a wasted card. Which Jram and Arenado would both be

Assuming you mean LS rating at the time the PotM card was released. Corbin Burnes last year ended as a 91 LS, with his PotM rated 93. Either way, the point you bring up is a good one, and you're probably correct.

i can agree with this, if they go Lopez that card would dice. I just think they're getting a lot of hate rn, and this is usually when they drop something crazy that distracts everyone.

Yeah. At time of release. Tatis and Jram in 20 weren't even 90+ live series cards at the time of there 99 overall POTM cards. Neither was Yelich in 18, and he won the NL MVP that year.
