But they won’t downsize the pci for the casual player base.

    That's Cricket?

Balls thrown really low, generally in the dirt. Swat a paddle and have a ball spray all over.

It's really simple. The outside pci should be gone. The outer pci only exist the bail out terrible swings

Every single one of these pitches were spotted in the dirt, because my opponent slammed his PCI like there is no tomorrow and couldn't recognize a pitch if his life depended on it. So my first obvious gripe is how close to the strike zone these pitches ended up.
Secondly, what's the point of having a good eye anymore? I'll tell you, it doesn't matter. Just swing every time and hunt fastball and you will be successful. No such thing as a penalty for swinging at a ball, not in this game.

But hey, "that's baseball bro, you ever watch a game? It happens". Am I right?

And before people think I'm just salty, I won this game.

I was gonna make a post about your second point:

I’ve 100% shifted my hitting priority to timing. I’m “selling out” on making sure I’m swinging early and sort of hoping my subconscious puts the PCI close enough to be in the area.

The first 3 event games I committed to focusing on being early, I was ripping doubles all over the place. Scored 5 runs in an inning etc. (yea, I know it’s moonshot, but if you’re early, there’s less pop up’s and fly outs)

Tl;dr - It’s better to swing early and be off w your PCI than it is to square up a ball w PCI and be even slightly late.

Between this and the PCI anchor there is no need to practice and learn the game anymore. We all learned zone hitting the hard way. Your ability to place the PCI was a learned skill. Now they just lock it in.

Hate to say it, but this game is now made so you can play it in the back of your moms mini-van. An arcade baseball game with a poker machine engine.

I feel the same. The changes had to made to accommodate the 8 year old switch users.

I was initially optimistic with the stream that talked about the PCI zone shrinking as you get further outside the zone to eliminate the excessive foul ball battles (with their frequency I mean; I’d be fine if it happened every so often with an opponent, not multiple times a game). Dabbling in the event today and cant get outs with low out of the zone.

That was a bunch of baloney, if anything it increases your chances on a hit.

Well they were right in that they lead to less foul balls. The problem is they lead to hits, usually HRs lol

And in the meantime I'm lining out or flying out on half of my good swings, and that's a generous estimation. This game is just not fun right now, any information on a gameplay patch @SDS_Jax_PSN @Collin_SDS_PSN @Victor_SDS_PSN ?

I played a friendly on AS and had Scherzer on the mound, first AB against Kyle Tucker went to 15 pitches with 11 fouled off, 2 strikes called and a ball… pitch 15 was that meatball. Luckily for me it was only a double in the gap… btw, my friend doesn’t contact swing!

A patch could help but this hitting engine/design needs to be replaced. Won’t happen this year but could be a big selling point for next year for anyone who’s considering this a make or break year.

Probably won't happen next year either, but I'd like to at least see them try with a patch, or more than one if the first one doesn't fix enough.

Shelfy posted a clip on twitter about 5 hours ago that shows just how bad the game is right now. His opponent had 9 hits OUTSIDE the zone and NOT 1 inside. It was amazing to see

I just finished the BR program after two days. Might be the most miserable thing I have done on MLB The Show. If you gave me a choice to go to the dentist and have a root canal or do the BR program with the game in this state, I would choose the dentist.

I could have made a 6 hr collage on the bs.

You can have any opinion you want but this game can't be any lower than the 3rd most miserable thing. I just cannot accept this game being more miserable than the Dentist or a trip to the BMV. No matter how bad this game is it can't beat those 2 things lmao
