From my own feedback, I’m convinced Contact swing combined with having the outer PCI is the cause. Hitting feels very cheesy this year.
Played a few games with Timing….it’s going to plague this game this year. Try it out if anyone is curious.
Whichever the underlying problem(s) might be, the game in it's current state is just not gonna cut it. I came to realize that after 1 day of playing, other people did too. I am 100% convinced that if things stay this way, a lot of people who are still optimistic will come around in a few months from now.
I agree with everything you have said so far. I’ve brought forward some of the same issues but don’t have your demeanor so I get blasted. At the end of all the debating…the hitting simply needs a major overhaul one of these years. I have my suspicions on why they insist on leaving it this way.
You didn't get blasted for your opinions themselves. You got blasted because you failed to respect anyone else's opinions. There is a difference
I’m not gonna respect someone that immediately comes onto a post I made and starts disrespecting me first, while contributing nothing to the topic of the post instead of “you just suck” or “conspiracy theorist” or “don’t blame the game” or “git gud” or “this is an alt account” or “your an idiot” or “here we go again” or “you don’t count”…why would I respect someone who hasn’t shown the same to me? The complaint threads are immediately hijacked by the same group of members and it’s been happening for years…unless your Raes. Go talk to the hijacker’s about respect please.
People tried to speak to you with respect at first and you flipped out and bombarded people with questions that weren't their responsibility to answer. You earn respect it's not just given. In my opinion you have earned none, Raes' has earned respect because he makes good articulate points about things and can actually step back and admit when he was wrong about something. A trait I have yet to see from you

After this sequence, I gave up 2 run shot. It's impossible to strike people out. Note that almost all of these pitches were changeup and sliders and the timing of my opponent was "very early" on almost all of them. This is just one example, you'll experience them yourselves I'm sure.
This is why I tend to hold off on online play until about June/July. The game is always unbalanced early on, at least from my experience. Can’t we just get a carbon copy of ‘17?
Oh man is miss that game, despite its flaws. That was the last game that was actually good imo.
That is oh so true. I would even take 16 if they took out the bunt cheese. Stick skills mattered in 16 & 17.
Back when it was exciting to get a gold card. I remember getting like an 83 gold Davis Ortiz and selling him for like 25,000 stubs. These games have way too many cards.
Yeah back when 125 attributes weren't a thing and it was 99 like it still should be.
I’ve been saying it for 3 years, get rid of 100+ attributes and the game will feel great, yet here we are again.

Anybody, literally people who swing at pitches that are IN the dirt, can keep at bats alive.
I wish I had seen '17 from a DD standpoint. At that time, I was only playing RTTS and can't remember what it was like.
That said... things just feel "off" to me. I've played a ton in '20 and '21, and it's just not enjoyable this year. To the "dirt" ball part of the post, I played a BR game where I threw 8 straight balls directly into the dirt, and my opponent fouled off every one. To be fair, I've been striking out far less this year also as a result of these changes, which isn't a good thing. Plus, the bloops are out of control (I've benefited from this as well, which makes me feel gross).
I don't know. I'm trying to give the game a shot this year. I played 30+ games of mini-season to get the dreaded "server error" in the Championship series. I miss the TA format of last year, as I just finished the FOTF program, and I don't feel like I have much to show for it. I'm traveling for work for the next two weeks, and I'm not looking forward to coming home and playing as much as I normally would. Originally I thought about taking the game on the road with my Switch, but I'm not going to subject myself to that.
For the TLDR folks... I'm just feeling crappy about '22.

I agree I've been arguing the same thing. I understand why they do it though. Their argument is that they want to give the real elite contact and/or power hitters the opportunity to really stand out, like giving Tony Gwynn 125 contact and Babe Ruth 125 power.
But in reality, 105 contact/power looks a whole lot better and more appealing than 83. Which it would be on the 99 scale.

I think it's a lot more complicated than that, and here is my THEORY:
Everything they do is on a 4-year cycle (this much is fact stated by the devs), so if they work on a new mechanic, it's planned long in advance. I've noticed a lot of turnovers from the people they introduce us to every year on their team. Most of the "veterans" we see every year are on the content side (Luis) or mode-specific teams (Nick). There's also the guy that works on defence (forget his name, former college player who's the oldest). We never hear about the hitting team.
Add to that that they added two console brands the last 2 years, stadium creation on next gen last year, re-did RTTS from the ground up (and missed the mark spectacularly), and that is a lot of overhaul for a yearly release. To undertake what is the core of your gameplay mechanic (since pitching is timing, but pre-set and not real time like hitting is) would be a massive, sensitive project.
Lastly, online used to be, not that long ago, a fringe of the fan base. Now with DD, it's the main thing. It's a lot safer to tweak than risk a massive failure that would ruin an entire year of the franchise.
I don't see an evil agenda here, just a company being risk-averse. While it's sad, I can understand their hesitation. Who knows, maybe the hitting is in the 4 year cycle as we speak. Let's hope.
All good points for sure. But the amount of money that comes in year after year + microtransactions doesnt really excuse their reusing assets from over 10 years ago. I skipped this year and probably next year for this exact reason. I shouldnt be seeing the same player animations that I saw when I was playing this game alllll the way back on the psp.

I understand as well, but it really does mess with gameplay, the RNG just goes nuts when you have a 100+ h/9 pitcher vs a 100+ contact hitter. Hopefully one day they will revert back, but I highly doubt it, so we all just have to make the best of it unfortunately.

From my own feedback, I’m convinced Contact swing combined with having the outer PCI is the cause. Hitting feels very cheesy this year.
Played a few games with Timing….it’s going to plague this game this year. Try it out if anyone is curious.
Whichever the underlying problem(s) might be, the game in it's current state is just not gonna cut it. I came to realize that after 1 day of playing, other people did too. I am 100% convinced that if things stay this way, a lot of people who are still optimistic will come around in a few months from now.
I agree with everything you have said so far. I’ve brought forward some of the same issues but don’t have your demeanor so I get blasted. At the end of all the debating…the hitting simply needs a major overhaul one of these years. I have my suspicions on why they insist on leaving it this way.
You didn't get blasted for your opinions themselves. You got blasted because you failed to respect anyone else's opinions. There is a difference
I’m not gonna respect someone that immediately comes onto a post I made and starts disrespecting me first, while contributing nothing to the topic of the post instead of “you just suck” or “conspiracy theorist” or “don’t blame the game” or “git gud” or “this is an alt account” or “your an idiot” or “here we go again” or “you don’t count”…why would I respect someone who hasn’t shown the same to me? The complaint threads are immediately hijacked by the same group of members and it’s been happening for years…unless your Raes. Go talk to the hijacker’s about respect please.
People tried to speak to you with respect at first and you flipped out and bombarded people with questions that weren't their responsibility to answer. You earn respect it's not just given. In my opinion you have earned none, Raes' has earned respect because he makes good articulate points about things and can actually step back and admit when he was wrong about something. A trait I have yet to see from you
Not to mention the fact its coming from an obvious alternate account doesn't help the fact either. Making another account to post because presumably because his other account would be recognized in a negative way, and then doing these things definitely doesn't earn respect

I was wondering why you lashed out at me out of nowhere today and was thinking that the only person I really have beef with on here is kovz and when he mentioned that it made me think maybe the hostility was coming from the fact you are indeed the same person.

Actually I just don't like guys that enjoy hitting women, which isn't debatable, the guys hits women and enjoys it. So if that's who you defend then you're not much of a man yourself. The difference is, I'm man enough to feel feelings and be a man, I don't have to be a knuckle dragger to prove I'm a man.

After this sequence, I gave up 2 run shot. It's impossible to strike people out. Note that almost all of these pitches were changeup and sliders and the timing of my opponent was "very early" on almost all of them. This is just one example, you'll experience them yourselves I'm sure.
This is why I tend to hold off on online play until about June/July. The game is always unbalanced early on, at least from my experience. Can’t we just get a carbon copy of ‘17?
Oh man is miss that game, despite its flaws. That was the last game that was actually good imo.
I could t agree more!!! I’ll take ‘17 and ALL ITS FLAWS, over every game since!!
