large outpour from franchise mode players saying each year it should get updated, but SDS denies to acknowledge it.

SDS would acknowledge it the franchise mode outpourers actually played franchise mode. But they don't. They're just loud.

I can for sure say SDS will lose a major chunk of the community that strictly plays franchise mode (including me).

Considering you just joined 13 hours ago, I join SDS in their grief over losing you. So sad to see such a longtime stalwart go...

I agree that it should be updated but the large outpour is basically a vocal minority. Even when DD was still relatively new, it and RTTS were the most played modes by a large margin with RTTS actually being the most played mode.

They do listen to the fans (stadium creator is one example) but they listen to the metrics more. Which modes get played most? Which modes have the best retention? And, unfortunately which modes make the most money for them.

I can for sure say SDS will lose a major chunk of the community that strictly plays franchise mode (including me)

They will lose players for sure, shoot they already are losing players, but to call it a major chunk is, I think, a vast overestimation.

I don’t know about a vocal minority (cue OS forum members) but definitely a post-purchase financial minority.

Of course the Operation Sports folks hate to admit it as they are all about Franchise and many of them have no use for any other mode. But compared to DD or RTTS, franchise fans are definitely the minority as far as numbers.

im neutral in this dog race but if franchise hasnt been touched in 6 years and you were a new player wouldnt you go for the new shiney features and leave an old stale non updated (that nobody plays) mode alone? Franchise doesnt GAIN any players all it does is lose them till the point when they finally get rid of the mode the number of people still playing is a small percentage. Its so obvious what they are doing

This mode isn't even on the Tech Test so I'm not sure how this got here.

In any case, here's my take: They probably haven't talked much on Franchise because since the mode itself involves you being the GM for an organization, there is no CBA between MLB and the Players Association to address any changes since a lot of the core functions of the mode stem from what's in the CBA

In their defense and once an avid franchise player both offline and online if features are removed, mode doesn’t work properly why waste your time and play???

Yeah I misinterpreted I read it as minority of voices. That’s definitely not the case. Absolutely agree we are minority in terms of player percentage.

Gamers now are instant gratification casuals with no attention span. If Franchise is gone from The Show then obviously there would be no reason for me to get it. Didn't I hear that 2K might be getting back into baseball again and if that's the case we'd have PC baseball again..no more of this silly archaic console 16:9, non moddable, no adaptive sync mess that you're locked in when playing on a console.

Compare the number of posts in the franchise sub-forum with the DD sub-forum. That shows you why franchise mode doesn't get the attention we want. And I say this as someone who plays franchise mode exclusively. Unfortunate, but it's just the reality we're in.

They purchased metal head studios that make super mega baseball and highly doubt it’s mlb related

Yup, what is ignored in this argument about how franchise is unpopular, is the people like me who play DD, because Franchise has been left relatively untouched for years.

SDS doesn't put resources into franchise because it doesn't make money outside of the initial purchase bottom line. This talk of it being unpopular has very little to do with it.

    The metrics argument is misleading.

Franchise mode doesn't get played as much because IT SUCKS and IT'S BEEN NEGLECTED. Numbers would be different -- time in the mode would spike significantly -- if the mode was shown any love at all.

The "metrics" don't reflect the community's lack of interest.

Rather, the neglect itself CREATES the metrics.

Or, as my students would put it...

SDS: Does practically nothing year after year to fix or update a mode in desperate need of fixing and updating.
Also SDS: "Our data show that people don't like this mode, so we will now abandon it."
