For MLB The Show these teams have had covers

Boston Red Sox x 3 (Ortiz, Pedroia, Gonzalez)
Phillies x 2 (Ryan Howard and Harper)
    Mets (David Wright)
    Twins x 2(Joe Mauer)
    Pirates (McCutcheon)
    Tigers (Cabrera)
    Dodgers (Puig)
    Blue Jays (Donaldson)
    Mariners (Griffey)
    Yankees (Judge)
    Cubs (Baez)
    Padres (Tatis Jr)
    Angels (Ohtani)

** Mauer shows as the cover of both 10 & 11 (anyone know why)
    ~~ ~~
Shockingly enough neither Trout or Pujols have ever graced the cover in spite of 6 MVP awards between them in that time fame. (2005 to present)

I think we can all agree that the biggest mistake cover was Puig who is already out of the league. 18 players in the NL and 16 in the AL got more MVP vote points for 2014
    ~~ ~~
8 covers have gone to team in eastern divisions
4 covers to West coast teams
5 covers to the central teams (counting Mauers 2 covers)

    ~~ ~~
It looks like only 5 out of 17 versions has one of the MVP award winners for the leagues as the cover athlete the following year.

Puig not in the league is a joke when look at some team’s roster and easy to see collusion is involved

Another way to look at it:

    Biggest US metro areas:

    1: NYC - 2 covers
    2. LAX - 2
    3. CHI - 1
    4. DFW - 0
    5. HOU - 0
    — (TOR would place here) - 1 —
    6. DC - 0 (although if you squint hard enough, do they get credit for Bryce?)
    7. PHL - 2
    8. MIA - LOL
    9. ATL - 0
    10. BOS - 3
    11. PHX - (sad emoji face)
    12. BAY - 0 (little surprising!)
    14. DET - 1
    15. SEA - 1
    16. MIN - 2
    17. SD(S) - 1
    27. PIT - 1

    Everyone else - zippo

Someone from one of the TX franchises needs a cover immediately. I nominate Bregman.

Not that it matters to me when all things are considered but I assume you are talking Acuna or Vlad Jr?

In the end it will depend on how they perform in 22. No reason to believe that either will have a major dropoff in '22 but stranger things have happened.

Again based on performance, and my favorite team, I would like to think that if Arenado or Goldy have really good seasons that they would be considered. Their careers have merited it plus they both have fans not only St louis but also their previous cities (both of which have also not had a cover).
