Yes, I am that guy that has to come to this forum feeling proud he made WS for first time.
I am closer To 50 than 40, and a baseball die hard. I coach my son’s travel team which is one of the best in the country for their age and we bond over the sport. I have played the show for ages but always RtTS , but he turned me on to DD last year for first time. I loved collecting cards as a kid so was hooked and while it took me a bit to adapt to the speeds of RS, made Championship series most seasons but would always die in low 800s.
This year I only made one attempt prior to this season but made the mistake of trying to go from 600 to 900 WS on 5 days and it just burnt me out having To try to play multiple games on days I was clearly off, peaking around 865 than sliding back…. I thought I wouldn’t even try again as I don’t really like RS but decided to give it one more shot and do it slow this time. Went 16-3 on the season and hit near .300 which is good for me.
Anyway, my wife’s eyes would roll so fast she might suffer brain damage if I tried to explain this “accomplishment” to her so you guys are one of the few places that might appreciate my story.
Thanks to those who made it this far in my post…this “old guy” for this community and game signing out.
Cheers ( yes, I will shamelessly rock the WS icon for a short while )
Congrats, Wyatt! I knew it would happen eventually. Contrary to a few of the other opinions, I disagree and think it’s just as hard at this time of year. Celebrate, brother!
And the classiest of forum members keeps it classy as always. Thanks, my friend.
The above Comments are like saying “that guy’s first major league home run isn’t really an accomplishment as he hit it off Derek Holland and not Jacob DeGrom.
I played more WS guys in this run than I remember in the frantic other attempt earlier in the season, but it doesn’t matter. I am not ever going to hang with the Top 75 crowd that can hit 1100-1300 rankings , but I know where my skills are and honestly think I could make it every season if I take the approach I took this time around.

Good job my friend and well done. Just ignore the two guys hate post. Those of us that know you are happy for you big time. I will keep playing you in friendlies and take my lumps I hope one day I’ll get you but I’m not holding my breath. I’m just glad I can keep them close!!!! ️️️️ Forever

Thanks Jeff! I can honestly say my favorite memories from this version of the game will be the friendlies where we are playing and chatting about baseball as we compete.

Good job. The first one is cool. The 2nd is too so u can know it wasn't a total fluke.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the game is about dead as dead as a game can be and the quality of the players at this point is an absolute shell of what it was.
Still…..nice accomplishment, but it isn’t the same accomplishment as it was up through when Trout dropped.
I always laugh when people say the game is dead, yet here they are on the forum and still playing the game. There are less players today than 9 months ago, this is true, but it's the casuals who are gone. I was a typical casual RS player and I gave that up a long time ago because I'm just not hood enough to compete at that level. Casuals like me are gone. Everyone who is left are the actual talented players like @raesONE_PSN @OreoRockstar_PSN to name a few. Whenever I hop online now to try RS (I'm more inclined to try BR), I feel the competition is more challenging then it was 9 months ago. And I've improved immensely.....trust me.
Additionally, every pitcher you face is an OP 99 these days, 9 months ago, you faced Silvers and golds.
All of these things aside, why do you enjoy popping people's bubbles? I'm generally curious. @OreoRockstar_PSN is a stand up dude who helps a lot of people on here, myself included for no other reason than he likes the game and wants to share that. Sooo...actually yeah, no need to respond, I don't wanna hijack this thread and go 6 rounds for no reason.

So probably, the REAL drop-off will be when the new version of the game is released and all those die-hards who are excellent players move over to that. I am looking forward to that so I can stay behind and be more competitive. LOL

Appreciate the thoughtful and pointed response. You will see even more Growth in your skills in year two, it takes seeing a ton of pitches to really start to be able to read and recognize and get a good approach.

Dead isnt a good explanation, but after August and definitely September there is a huge fall off, because mainly the casual players leaving as you stated. But after the WS is over it is pretty safe to say the game is dead. While dead might not mean not a single player playing online, it definitely means at least a 70% reduction from April and May. If not more.
But yes, you will definitely face more talented players after September than April - until then. Thats why you got to make your run during those prime Months lol.

I am more proud of the comments by guys like Ericulous and Blind Bleeder about my character on this forum than making WS, doubt we can find anyone on this board that will vouch for your’s….
Hope that post made you feel better about yourself…..
I honestly didn’t mean the comment as negatively as you took it. I saw your post and it made me thing about the current quality of competition I have been experiencing, so I commented. I do mean the congratulations though.
Why are we talking about character? We are talking about the quality of online opponents in a video game. I’m having trouble connecting the dots.
The way you responded it sounds like you are already knew the opponents were not very good on your WS run.

I think it’s a little different this year with the Xbox community getting the game for free on game pass. Guys that have played this game online for the last 5-10 years know really quick if they are playing a good player.
I see you’re logic that only sharks are still playing this time of year, but it’s just not the case this year from what I’m experiencing.

No, we are talking about the kind of guy who feels the need to come into a thread where someone states they are excited about something and dump on it. That’s the sign of your character…..There are guys who chimed in that who can make WS in their sleep That didn’t feel the need to be a dbag (I.e. RaesOne), that’s why the forum respects those type of players.
And my record was a game better than yours in this WS run, which is hard to believe as I can’t believe you lost at all based on your post.

Congratulations. I am 50 and will probably never sniff WS. For one, I don’t play enough ranked. Secondly I don’t hit well enough to string enough wins together on HOF to get over the hump. I’ve done okay in the current event, but for me that’s 12-7, with one early quit because I used up my bullpen in an extra inning game prior.

Cheers ( yes, I will shamelessly rock the WS icon for a short while )
Hate to burst your bubble, but the game is about dead as dead as a game can be and the quality of the players at this point is an absolute shell of what it was.
I definitely agree there are less people playing and your take on it is pretty spot on. I just look at the parallel system to see how many might be playing.
Bryce Harper Finest came out as a holiday present, long after the game "died" so to speak and over 100k people have him at least P1. Wander Franco a very popular boss that came out 6 months ago has 173k. People are definitely still playing.

Not a good comparison though because one was quick and free and one was earned or paid for. There is no way more than 30% of people playing 6 Months ago are playing now as often or at all. IDK the numbers, but if this game avg 2 mil at a time 6 Months ago no way it avgs 600K now. for example. You can just see than in marketplace speed.

You're definitely right about that, I'm just saying that Harper came out long after the season ended and still had 100k people use him enough to P1 him which I know doesn't take a lot but that's still substantial. Of course there are a ton more players at the beginning of the game cycle. But there are plenty of people around making WS a challenge now. I never have lost as badly as I have in the last few days and I had never played this game in May, now I can beat showdowns when 9 months ago I couldn't pass the first boss. Many of the people playing have put together insane God squads and can pick apart inexperienced players like myself.

Good job. The first one is cool. The 2nd is too so u can know it wasn't a total fluke.
Love,
A slightly younger old ba$tard
I remember playing you at some point, may have been last year. I think you had something related to Iowa as your team. Is that correct? ( I grew up in Indianola)

I wondered how long it would take for someone to really be “that guy”! And congratulations, you win.
Bottom line is you are way too serious about this interaction.

Bottom line, @OreoRockstar_PSN , this is a big accomplishment. Given your stature on this forum, I think the simple thing for most folks just should have been "Congrats". I went back and looked at the last 8 games you played in your run, and there were 3 WS banners in there, plus 3 more that have maxed out in the high 800's during this game cycle. No "gimmes" for sure.
