Don’t get me wrong I enjoy the game but now that I have every player I want and have made World Series every season/gone flawless I realize that most of the fun is making stubs to buy players.

I still enjoy the game but when I get the urge to play every few days I’ll play one and I’m over it.

Anyone else? Good to understand this aspect of my mentality going forward.

I feel the same way, and weirdly I'm ok with it. I like chasing things and obtaining them, the journey is fun. It's absolutely designed to be that way, plenty of game companies have psychologists that help put those kind of systems in place.

Agreed. I'm glad I have every legend and flashback card (except Alomar!!!!!). But like you said, it's less fun when you've achieved everything. This forever inning at the very least makes me feel like my games matter, but really all I end up with are more stubs. Hopefully there will be a good event card that i can buy for 1M just to feel like I didn't waste it hahaha.

Enjoy the couple months without the feeling of having to chase something, so in April when the new game comes, you will be fresh and eager to do the grind all over again!

Yeah to me it is just completing all the challenges. And most of that is to collect a player. With H2H play as rough as it is I definitely get my thrill out of that more than anything. Probably by design though. Because although I can get things done without investing any extra money into the game, they probably make a killing off others spending money to get those challenges done. If it was as simple as hoping online and playing someone H2H and having fun they wouldnt make as much money. Unfortunate.

Truth. Throughout the season I'll spend hours in the market.

Might have to try sticking to Ranked Regular H2H next year, but I do love to build a nasty lineup with swings and defense to my liking.

100 percent…it is nice to just enjoy my squad and play some games when I feel like it. I do miss the pressure to win though.

There is a fall off for almost everyone at some point. For some they have put in so many hours that they simply get burnt out. For others interest may fall off after the World series and there are no more roster updates. Some just want to collect everything while others, like me, are only interested in collecting all the players from a specific team.

So there are plenty of reasons interest will wane for the majority of players at one point or another.

Agreed. It's a total waste of time for me. I'm just going to wait for The Show to go on sale next year if I even do buy it next year. And at that point, I'm staying away from DD. Their premier mode (DD) was broken basically all year..

And for all that grind to be for nothing in just a few months...Yeah no thanks. Call me a child, but at 30 years old, I very much prefer games like fornite and apex with battle passes and seasons. At least you keep all your stuff that you grinded for.

I’ve been wondering when sports games will turn to that model.

Then again they may not since people are perfectly willing to start over every year.

Imagine how cool it would be to enter a game with players you earned previous years.

I said that in the past on these forums. Or SOMETHING to show that we worked our asses off in the previous games. Even if its a 3 year cycle or something, with the 3rd year being a big championship event before we start over again. I would be all in for something like that.

I bought the game at launch for the first time in a few years and I feel really burnt out. At this point, I’m just trophy hunting and will probably stop at the end of the forever inning but I might not make it that far. I might get the game later next year or take a year off. I have other games just sitting around that I really want to get into but haven’t because I’ve been grinding the Show. Knowing me though, I’ll probably still get it early on as I'm addicted and I can’t help myself when it comes to baseball.

When we were in the middle of the season, I was running home every night to play. Been playing baseball my whole life and even now on Sundays, so I'm right there with you on the fandom. But yeah I'm a gamer overall and there's just too many other games to play to waste my time on DD where I lose my progress anyway.

At least single player games have a story, plotline etc to fall into. I can't get into playing 1 player season or something, especially with this repetitive gameplay, repetitive announcers, repetitive animations

I am a first year player so I'm sure in a few seasons I'll completely understand the frustration of collections not carrying over. I enjoyed that aspect the most, but if I didn't have to start from scratch in 22 and started with all my cards, I'm not sure I'd have any interest in playing the whole season. The fun for me is in the pursuit of things. Once it's all complete, I'm ready to move to something else.

I wish there was some type of token you could carry over, maybe a handful of players or a few collection rewards to demonstrate what you achieved the previous season.
