I don’t understand why people don’t like to hear get good when it comes to ranked. BR is already all star as well as most events why complain about the one mode which needs skill to be good
1.) It's an old, tiresome, and lazy answer.
2.) I'm not sure why you and others can't understand that not everyone treats this game like a job. Some people just want to hop on and play a game in between kids, a wife, a job, other life responsibilities. Believe it or not there are plenty of posters on this board who can't devote the time or consistency it takes to "get good".
3.) And if everyone on here practiced for 8 hours a day for weeks on end there will still be different skill levels. As I stated above not everyone has the same talent/abilities as everyone else. Practice can only take you so far.
Get better then or otherwise you sit in the lower levels not difficult to understand has nothing to do with family, job, wife, pets etc

Thats what casual modes like events br and… casual are for. People that can’t be very good. It only takes 10-15 minutes of sitting in BP to start to improve. If you can’t do that then don’t complain. Plenty of people including myself have a job and a significant other and still use my free time to be good at the game. I think having a life is a tiresome excuse to be lousy at a video game

I think if I was an adult with a job and significant other and on here ridiculing someone for “being lousy” at a video game, I may want to reassess the situation.

The reality is it has very little to do with “skill”. Regardless of difficulty, there is so much randomness in this game.
Those of you that are playing at higher difficulty, my hat is off to you.
That said, don’t delude yourselves. The gameplay online is not balanced in any way, shape or form, unless you consider balance to mean that random outcomes happen to everyone.
If it was about skill, the most good swings would win every time. That is not the case. You can’t really even take the swing feedback seriously.
I mean I went 13-1 and got Trout. It can’t be completely random.
Like I said, my hat is off to you, but I would suggest you are in the vast minority. A game based on skill would not reward so many bad swings with home runs, for starters.
Why does my opponent, who otherwise can’t hit the side of a barn, suddenly score four runs right after I score five? Did he suddenly figure out hitting for that one inning? Did he just forget again after that inning?
We have all experienced these things in the game, and whether you went 13-1 or not doesn’t change that.

I hope you don't view the world as narrowly as you do this video game. EVERYONE IS NOT LIKE YOU. For YOU it might only take 10-15 minutes of BP to "get gud" NOT everyone.. You also seem to ignore my third reason but based on your reading comprehension and self centered views it wouldn't really matter if you read it or not. That's all the time I care to spend on this. It doesn't really matter to me if you can't understand that "get gud" isn't the answer for everybody.

Do you not realize this whole thread is about people complaining that they aren’t good enough to play on hof and legend? They aren’t gonna make a ranked seasons but only if you play an hour a day and are 50 years old. This whole thread is just stupid. I don’t know why anybody is still trying to argue it. It’s supposed to be fun. If you aren’t having fun losing in ranked go play events and BR. God forbid do something else that you find fun. Or instead just run to the forum to complain it’s too hard I guess. This isn’t all aimed at you ncstate btw.

There is randomness but not anywhere near madden or 2k. It goes both ways most of the time in this game. I’d say 95 percent of the time the better player wins. In other games it’s nowhere near that. This is by far the most balanced sports game on the market. Certain things set elite players apart whether it’s mastering certain players swing time or just elite reactions. This game very much so comes down to skill.
So it is “less random” than Madden or 2k” therefore all about skill?
Maybe for “elite” players (whoever they are) but for the vast majority of players, the gameplay is pretty much random.
Do you know who the elite players are in this game? They are the people that live close to the servers with internet bad enough where the majority of their games connect to those servers. Look at all the top players in the game. Almost all live close to the alleged server locations. That is not a coincidence.
I wish I had the money. I would fly Weens to KC and put him up for a season. Yes, he would still make the WS because he is a good player but he wouldn't sniff 500-50 or whatever. Wouldn't be a top 50 player even though right now he might be the best.
FYI - Before you idiots that think I say this because you think I think I am the best. I am not. I wouldn't be a top 50 player if I moved to Ween's house. There is, however, a big difference in where you play this game.
Also why I am loving TGC Tours on PGA Tour 2k21. I don't have to worry about people's connections and there proximity to the servers. Whether I do good or bad, it is all on me. No warping pitches or non-pci HR's to deal with. Much better game.

You're quite right I'm sure, about the Show. But you're wrong about PGA 2K21 - their swing timing has RNG in it. Whether you do good or bad, it is not all on you at all. This has been shown by people with weird programs that input the same exact inputs every time, and get all kinds of outputs, ranging all the way from very early to very late, but mostly 'just'. And there are even ways to game the RNG (by purposely aiming way one way and then intentionally going for 'very earlies'). They have forums where they debate if it's cheesing or cheating to use the intentionally early method.
I quit playing it for good and came back to this game.

My record has been better while at school in North Dakota than when I was home in Arizona closer to the servers. Could be I just improved since then though. I’ll be back in Arizona for good soon so I’ll find out soon enough

With my theory if your internet is really good in AZ maybe you are not connecting to the closest servers. Maybe connecting to servers like TX more which would affect your game.

- If only that were the case. You can spend 10-15 minutes a day in custom practice on legend and not get better.
I mean, sure, you can get better by small increments, but it doesn’t last, and if you have to do it every day to have a prayer at hitting on HOF, it is pretty lame.
I can think of plenty of skills I’ve developed in life that don’t require me to practice every day to be decently good at.
This game is not like that, by design.

I mean I went 13-1 and got Trout. It can’t be completely random.
When people that can't hit that suddenly score 4 after you score 5, that is called DDA which doesn't exist in this game remember? /s
Right. I forgot. -

Does it really help to practice on legend against the computer when the pitch speeds from that don't even match online HOF which is faster or much faster depending on the connection?

Does it really help to practice on legend against the computer when the pitch speeds from that don't even match online HOF which is faster or much faster depending on the connection?
In Legend custom practice mode, with maxed out pitch speed Sliders, I can (eventually) see the ball/pitch and turn on it no problem. It does, however, take some time to get the timing down and for my eyes to focus on the ball/pitch. My physical reflexes and vision (eventually) adjust fine. This extreme practice mode is still very challenging, but NOT because I cannont see the pitch.
However, in many online h2h games, I have a difficult time seeing/focusing on the pitches and timing up anything (even on All-Star at times). In online h2h, turning on many FB's while still being able to lay off the "disappearing" offspeed stuff seems impossible (even with an excellent ethernet connection and computer monitor).
For me, the online pitch speed problems are NOT just about my deteriorating physical reflexes (which is part of it), but also about poor network latency preventing me from focusing/tracking the ball/pitch. Playing vs folks overseas is even notably worse...and THIS is why I am convinced that the biggest problem in h2h gameplay is inferior network latency/ping/connection/etc., which is completely outside of the user's control.
While there is a skill gap and some players are just better than others, network connection issues are definately a part of it.

They very well might have patched it quite a bit since I was playing, which was release day and for a few months thereafter. And I've seen people streaming it that get good/good every time so it can work fine like that. It was a fascinating issue - I didn't even know those devices/programs existed that can essentially turn a controller into a macro.
It was quite the rabbit hole I went down because I was a big fan of TGC 2019 (when the key thing for swings was not the timing, but the accuracy of the stick movement). There would be no way I could compete at the TGC Tour level - if you're doing fine there, it sounds like a potential non-issue now, likely from patching.

Both plane and tempo seem to be very important now. Most times when I hit a red slow or fast it results in a terrible shot (which it should). There are times you can get away with it like a big fairway or something like that.
As far as the macros and other things, people will always find a way to cheat the system. Been happening since the beginning of online play. Socom was my first online game (and still my favorite) and you had code 9 people causing issues. The idiots that created the chonus, zen, etc hurt online gaming more than anything. I just play golf to have fun and see what I can do. I am in the low levels of CC but enjoying the climb. Promo event this coming week.

It's not about the cheating aspect of those devices. It was how they allowed the user input to be automated, and the game was STILL giving variable swing timings! That's legitimately impossible without RNG or a wild bug.
The people that used those always said they only have them because their son/daughter is disabled and that's the only way they can enjoy the game, lol. But that always distracted from the point.
Maybe they took the RNG out, or maybe it was a bug, or there was a theory that they only have that RNG in there IF you're using the device, and that it works normally with human inputs. Anyway, glad you're having fun with it and not dealing with that issue, but that game about drove me up a wall oh my.
