personally I like ranked on HOF, it lets you use guys like orel and arrieta, and maddux without being clobered. I know it sucks with less runs but I feel on all star theres just some absurd home runs on balls or pinpointed pitches. id rather ranked always be HOF without changing difficulty and BR and events always all star

I don’t understand why people don’t like to hear get good when it comes to ranked. BR is already all star as well as most events why complain about the one mode which needs skill to be good

The reality is it has very little to do with “skill”. Regardless of difficulty, there is so much randomness in this game.

Those of you that are playing at higher difficulty, my hat is off to you.

That said, don’t delude yourselves. The gameplay online is not balanced in any way, shape or form, unless you consider balance to mean that random outcomes happen to everyone.

If it was about skill, the most good swings would win every time. That is not the case. You can’t really even take the swing feedback seriously.

I mean I went 13-1 and got Trout. It can’t be completely random.

I agree…feels like the pitch speeds and timing windows are balanced on HOF. Only reason I would prefer Legend is that at times…even on legend….you get some high scoring games pretty commonly on HOF. With that being said I don’t think making the timing windows weird and outcomes different to keep scores down is good either. HOF rewards good play while also minimizing the trash on all-star with the huge pcis and foul tips….etc…

I would love to see pitch speeds ever so slightly slowed, remove the outer PCI and slightly shrink the inner PCI on all star only

I believe the inner PCI size on HOF and legend are fine. Do this and improve connection for H2H play and I’ll be happy

There is randomness but not anywhere near madden or 2k. It goes both ways most of the time in this game. I’d say 95 percent of the time the better player wins. In other games it’s nowhere near that. This is by far the most balanced sports game on the market. Certain things set elite players apart whether it’s mastering certain players swing time or just elite reactions. This game very much so comes down to skill.

Yeah, I suck but I agree with this. Randomness is unavoidable, but it's more about how OFTEN you square a ball up. If you can do that consistently, you're going to be a beast regardless of the level of randomness.

If someone's complaining about random bad results on good input, it's likely that the good input is relatively rare so the injustice of it stings more.

You just need to keep playing and do BP on legend with maxed fastball speeds. All star is too easy HOF and Legend can be a challenge but if you take BP consistently and if you don’t have a monitor I highly suggest getting one.

Yeah, NO. "Taking BP" for a video game is just one hill too far for most people, myself included.

Nevertheless, I think this is a problem that can never really be solved, or maybe it's not a problem at all since we're talking competitive online. There need to be levels.

The problem that CAN be solved is the ridiculousness of 125 power guys and outlier pitchers. God Squad games have NO variety whatsoever.

Ban outlier, OR give it out way less and make stamina a real thing.

So you refuse to take BP which ultimately will make you a better hitter on higher levels but still want to complain about a more difficult level because you can’t hit… that makes no sense lol

If time is the issue instead of coming home and playing 2 RS games… just block out an evening where you only do BP until you feel comfortable then next day jump into RS

Or just tank so you can stay on all star

I usually don’t get aggressive, but [censored], can you even READ? I said in that same post that it’s probably not a problem at all, and competitive online needs to have levels. Hello?

Perhaps you guys should take BP less to make time for a remedial reading comprehension course.

Some of yall would have never made it in TheShow17 lol I still find myself to early on HOF fastballs just because they are so easy to read out the hand, its instinct to swing as soon as I see a FB in the strike zone resulting in a ton of early swings.

I mean what more do you want. Ranked seasons has several different tiers at different difficulties, there's events and BR. You can even play online rated. You keep saying it needs "levels". But there are clearly plenty of levels.

Ah, I see. I meant "there are levels to this game," meaning that if you can't hit on HOF and L, sucks for you. I'm AGREEING with people who think things can't necessarily change. I wasn't saying that we need literally different RS pools based on levels.

And I most certainly CANNOT hit on HOF or L. Sucks for me, but there are levels to this game, and I can't reach all of them.

The "problem" is that not everyone will achieve everything, and that's not a problem in a competitive environment.

For us mere mortals HOF just isn’t fun. The pitch speeds are just too fast and the gameplay is straight up boring. I get a few hits, my opponent gets a few hits and whoever hits more HRs win. There’s really no variety to hitting on this difficulty for ranked. Going from all star to HOF with the varying timing windows is brutal for me. Sorry for venting…feel like they ruined RS this year.

It’s more or less whoever gets lucky with home runs is the winner. HOF is brutally ridiculous!!!

Makes you appreciate people like Littlemann and Weens who hit Legemd like it’s Veteran for most.

I mean…..yeah you’re not wrong. But I certainly am not gonna put in the time it would require of me to get that good. I’m too old and have too many responsibilities. I already spend too much time on this game.

Man, I am way too old to ever be elite at this game too. My 11 year old son has unreal reaction times when hitting ( but doesn’t understand the pitching strategy yet). Makes me realize how much my hand eye reaction has slowed.

Agreed. This is the only PS game I own and it’s simply because I love baseball!! I’ve been playing since 2015. The first time I saw the Topps cards on the screen and was like “I had that card when I was a kid”, I was hooked. I was a really player in ‘17, but like you my reaction time has slowed drastically!! I’m still decent and if I try hard I can get to mid 800’s, but I play now for fun. About once or twice a year I try to summon all my patience and put together a serious run for 900 just to see if I can still do it. Made it to 846 I think this year. Haven’t made it to 900 since ‘17.

We live the same experience, my friend. I have made one teal attempt at WS each of the last two seasons ( I have played The Show since first iteration but just started SD last year).

Last year I hit 870 and this year 876. Last year I had a few soul crushing losses that ended that run and this year 2 disconnect losses that put me over the edge at that point. Mentally far too draining for my sanity !

And like the guy said above, consistent “practice” for a video game that is supposed to be a “getaway” from stress is one step too far ( and my wife would have me committed “.

It’s not as much about practicing as it is about committing to playing on legend/HOF and sticking to it. Believe it or not you will get used to the pitch speeds and timing windows.

You guys go ahead and complain instead so every mode in the game is on slow pitch softball, with strike zone pcis and you can’t strike out.

They already gave you whiners cumulative wins and you still complain.

Oreo is one of the more level headed posters on this board. Not sure what warranted this response.

And I also disagree with your post. Not everyone is created equal. We all don't have the same equipment to play with/on and we are all different ages meaning we all have different reaction times and abilities.

So does that mean there shouldn’t be a place in the game to where the difficulty is higher and those that want to take on the challenge can do so?

Also if you read a couple more posts down I apologized as it wasn’t really directed at him.

There absolutely should be a place for those that want to play legend. I never suggested there shouldn't be

1.) It's an old, tiresome, and lazy answer.

2.) I'm not sure why you and others can't understand that not everyone treats this game like a job. Some people just want to hop on and play a game in between kids, a wife, a job, other life responsibilities. Believe it or not there are plenty of posters on this board who can't devote the time or consistency it takes to "get good".

3.) And if everyone on here practiced for 8 hours a day for weeks on end there will still be different skill levels. As I stated above not everyone has the same talent/abilities as everyone else. Practice can only take you so far.

Get better then or otherwise you sit in the lower levels not difficult to understand has nothing to do with family, job, wife, pets etc

Thats what casual modes like events br and… casual are for. People that can’t be very good. It only takes 10-15 minutes of sitting in BP to start to improve. If you can’t do that then don’t complain. Plenty of people including myself have a job and a significant other and still use my free time to be good at the game. I think having a life is a tiresome excuse to be lousy at a video game

Like I said, my hat is off to you, but I would suggest you are in the vast minority. A game based on skill would not reward so many bad swings with home runs, for starters.

Why does my opponent, who otherwise can’t hit the side of a barn, suddenly score four runs right after I score five? Did he suddenly figure out hitting for that one inning? Did he just forget again after that inning?

We have all experienced these things in the game, and whether you went 13-1 or not doesn’t change that.

Lol that’s just you’re not as good as you think you are. Bad bullpen management
