My son and I are quarantined with Covid so decided to work together on our accounts to get Trout ( I had been in at drop and thought I had placed the 78th 1M buy order, but realized yesterday morning I had mistakenly placed one for 100,000 stubs ( ugh) and would have been about 2001 in line.
So we took turns playing on our accounts yesterday with me pitching and he hitting. We went about 9-3 roughly on eqxh account but the disappointing thing is a third the guys we are playing are WS banner guys with insane records tanking down in the 400-600 range ( these guys have lineups with averages between .350-.420 and 60-140 homers per player).
I get the rush to get Trout, but SDS should block these guys from playing RS on All Star once they hit WS as they are ruining the games for the guys who should be playing in this range to have a chance to earn wins. It’s a really Sh**ty thing to do.
Now in fairness, my son amd I can compete well enough to beat a few of these guys and we will wallow thru bouncing between 550-800 likely while we get our 30 wins, bit there are so many players that will have to play who knows how many games to earn the wins when you factor in them getting matched with these jack holes…I hope SDS figured a way to not reward these rank and tank players if they plan to keep the 30 win system next year.
I'm one of those WS guys in the 600s right now, I took a couple months off and it takes like 10 wins to get back to HOF. Just know that a lot of us don't intentionally tank
I know, my friend. I always check gamer tags after and can see the guys who are tanking compared to the WS guys who just saw their rankings plummet due to not playing for seasons.
It’s the guys with records of 22-21 and a bunch of 0-0 first inning losses this season and still playing in the 500s I am talking about and have seen multiple.
And to the guy asking why tanking is wrong, they have levels for a reason….but have fun destroying lousy competition so you can feel good about yourself when you obviously have the skills to be competitive at higher levels. ( play casuals on AS if you want to dominate with other line ups).
I'm a new player to RS. Im 13-17. It is not because I tank it is because I cant hit. I average 1.8 runs per game and I'm hitting .207. Trust me, its not intentional.
You are the type of player I am referencing when I say these guys who purposely lose to stay in the low levels are effecting.
You should be playing other guys who struggle to hit, not WS guys that can hit .400 -.500 plus on AS with their entire lineup.
Sorry I misunderstood. I see what your are saying now. I played a guy last night who was like 400-350 with the WS banner by his name.

It's not about playing casuals its about not being forced to play on hall of fame, some people cant do it on hall of fame anymore due to burnout. I usually play on AS tto get the 30 wins then make my WS run to try to get the second pack using the WS reward

I'm simply using all TA5 players to get my Team Affinity points. It's certainly not my "God Squad", and it will take me longer to get to 30 wins, but I don't care. I'm down here in 500-600 land, win one, lose one, but I'm having fun.
You?
So your strategy is win a game then lose the next one and by doing this your able to make WS and get the RS reward? Just genuinely curious

it takes 30 wins to get the reward, if you play enough ranked and you are good enough, you'll eventually hit 900, what hes saying is hes just enjoying the game using fun and different cards without playing on HOF.
-
I quit a lot of games to take an intentional L, but keeping my ranking low really isn't the priority (it's more of an indirect benefit). I quit games due to poor connection, jittery/juttery stadium (MLB stadiums), or opponent playstyle (bunting). I could force myself to fight through all that to maybe scrap a W out of it, but that's 40 minutes or more of no-fun. Just not worth the aggravation. So I quit those games and end up only playing home games against cats that don't bunt.
Much like @guccigangchuck, after I get those 30 wins, that's when I'll take an honest shot at climbing the ladder as high as possible (WS). Unlike @guccigangchuck, I've yet to actually make WS though LOLLLLLL

I'm so confused by how RS works. How do people go back down levels? I played a bunch of RS games early on and was awful so I gave it up but I've been at 385 since. It never makes me start over like the other online programs. Does it kick you down when you get higher up? Thanks, just trying to know more about the game.
Until you get to 400, you lose 0 points with a loss but gain points with a win. So as long as your winrate is non-zero, you WILL get to 400. But once you get to 400 or higher, you lose points from a loss.
Your ranking could fluctuate like 390-435-399-399-440-401-379-425 if you went W-L-L-W-W-L-W starting at 390.
The concern is that some people intentionally lose a game for every one that they win so they never get too high in the rankings, but really I don't think many do that at all. I think people might get to HOF (800) and decide they'd rather play on AS, and so then quit out of a series of games in a row to get back to 400, and do it again. That sorta thing.

Yea I know the logistics of how RS goes… I just didn’t understand his whole win one game then lose the next until he gets the WS reward… it seems like that wouldn’t work

What I meant is that by using my "TA5 Team", which isn't my best team, I typically can't get much higher than 650. So I typically win one, lose one. I'm not losing on purpose.

You might be relying too much on that Fernando Tatis, Jr. card. That's a full on trap card. I gave up on it when my batting average with him fell below that of my long-term average with pitchers. He was batting about .088 for me.
But that means nothing. What does mean something is that I almost never see anyone I face that has decent stats with him. He's always doing way worse than basically all their other players.

Yep, Tatis may play the best defense in the game but I can’t hit a lick with him and sure as heck have tried. He got the boot and doesn’t even get to warm his [censored] on the bench.

-Orel HershiserThanks, my friend. I have tried them all…
Kluber is my favorite
Than Arrietta, then Webb. All three are very good, best on HOF and up but still tough even on AS with pin point.
Hershiser is my favorite pitcher ever but this years card is disappointing in my opinion and too easy to pick up his release ( which was changed compared to prior years).

Interesting stuff, Oreo. I don't even play HOF anymore except for casual games, which remains the most underrated game mode this game has to offer.
True story. Recently, I ventured into the twitch channel of a cat I know for a fact is ultra elite at this game, but he's not popular. Had about 30 people in his chat at most. I went into that chat and said I can beat anyone here cause I'm the best (looking for a matchup against a really good player), and one guy said 'ok. I'll play you.'
I insisted on the game being on HOF because I knew this guy would be used to legend, and sure enough, he had a 12-0 icon and a WS banner. I used Arrieta because I had faith in that card.
I got 2 total outs before I got 10-runned LOLLLLLL! I trust that Webb card more than any of the three, now.

It's December. There isn't any noob competition left. I tank to play all my RS games in the 400-550 range, and I rarely match up against a truly new player like that. It's mostly other tankers and folks that are decent but are clearly on a TV.
Remember, RS ranking resets every few weeks. So every player in the game "tanks" at the beginning of every month, and new players have to play veteran players all the time. It's built in.
What's the big deal about building it into the game just a bit more?
Game was just on sale for 10$, it’s available year round on gamepass, there is always noob competition.
