Jeter is still on the way!

Just wait, they talked about HOF directly before opening the box and after revealing the legend Ramone called him on the phone and said something along the lines of how that wasn’t a real reveal and that coach pranked him.
Which basically means there’s another legend on the way, and that legend will be leading off, for the New York Yankees, number two, Derek.. Jeter, number two. -
Its because they troll you every time they do that. They aren't hinting at anything, just getting your hopes up for nothing

Jeter, number two.Jeter was a great captain with lifetime stats. He made one of the most intuitive plays I have ever seen against the A's in the playoffs. With that said, his card to me would be Barry Larkin. I would rather see Negro Leagues players get their respect over a Jeter type. If I had to pick a cover athlete for next year it would be a cool cover with all the Negro League All Star's together.

False.
Great captains change positions to help the team instead of acting like a prima donna and making the new guy move.

100%!! I know it doesn’t mean anything for DD, but there are some rosters in the vault with a ton of Negro League players and I started a franchise with them to play every once in awhile and it was a lot of fun.

Please explain why? Who would you compare Jeter to stat wise that played the same position with spectacular plays mixed with some below average fielding seasons?
-
Jeter’s legend status is because he played for the Yankees, not because he was ever the best shortstop.

Can you think of many instances where a hall of fame player changed position to accommodate a new signing? Not the guy coming up the ranks that was drafted by the team, but one that the team signed to take his spot? I do not have love for the Yankees as an Orioles fan (or a fan of baseball at all), but Jeter was the face of those teams for many years. I think Jeter has as much right to insist playing short as the Yankees had to push for a guy who played the same position.
It is also important to note that Alex Rodriguez wanted to go to Boston and not New York. He agreed to restructure his massive contract and even take less, but MLB blocked the deal (it likely upset the MLBPA too as they didn't want a prime player taking less money).

Not the same position, but other than WS rings Jeter and Paul Molitor are about identical stat wise

People frequently mistake leadership for being the best player. They often go hand in hand because leadership is harder to see looking in, but Alex Rodriguez was a more talented player than Jeter and much less of a leader for example. His WAR was 71.3% which is good for the 61st highest WAR ever. He had his issues fielding, but he did win 5 gold gloves in his career. Robin Yount might be a better player to compare him to than Larkin, but in this game, comparing him to Larkin makes him a better card than Yount. Maybe Craig Biggio is a better comparison offensively, but I was going for another SS.

My point that Jeter's claim to fame is 3000 hits, being the face of the Yankees and winning a bunch of titles. He was a very good player (hence being in the hall), but there are other good players with average cards in game. I would rather see SDS pony up for Manny Ramirez or Alex Rodriguez who could anchor the middle of a lineup.

I would purposely hesitate on all fielding plays and mess up the throwing meter for him to demonstrate his fielding skills and make a YouTube montage video.

Cal moved for Mike Bordick.
When Alex Rodriguez joined the Yankees Derek Jeter was 30 (Rodriguez joined the Yankees at 28). Jeter won the gold glove that season and the next two after that. Jeter didn't win it the next two years, but won it the two years after that. So Jeter won 5 gold gloves in a 7 year period while Rodriguez was on the Yankees.
Cal was 31 when he won his last gold glove and while he was a great defender, he would have been a better overall player if he didn't continue the streak of games played. Cal admitted this too. Cal got to a point where his reaction was a step and a dive and third made the most sense. Cal originally moved for a much lesser player than Bordick if I recall. I think Manny Alexander came up and took over short in 1996 and Cal was like a month away from being 36.

If Jeter released right now and the card was realistic he would be hands down the worst TA4 card. Except for maybe David Price.
