I’m 10-2 with newhouser in events. So to each his own. He hits 100 consistently with his FB. My winning record is like 600 overall so I’m far from elite though. So far it seems if a fastball isn’t over 95 then it’s a HR ball

I’ve been a Newhouser advocate myself. He’s been lights out for me but I have played but about 11 ranked games in 8-3 every game he pitched he’s won..... no dominated

100000% kluber or Rollie. Both games I’ve played against Newhouser (on HOF) I’ve lit him up even with the clunky timing window. Sinkers/cutters/splitters are OP at higher levels of RS.
Agree. Seen newhouser once and hit 6 straight xbh capped off with a 3 run home run. Guy didn’t even get to bottom of the first

I chose Kluber and I pitched 2 complete games online and won both

OK so I just picked Hal and used him in an RS game, I also was facing Hal for the first time, so quick blurb on what I think of him if that'll help anyone
It was a WC game, my opponent had a 15-8 record coming in, so they're decent competition and it was AS difficulty. I won 7-1 and it went the full nine. five of my runs were off his newhouser, he scored zero on mine
Hal's velocity is great, he throws really hard (FB can hit 100) and the difference between his FB and change/any offspeed really is great. It makes it hard to hit against him and I struck out eight times in seven innings against him which is above average for me, I basically just sat on offspeed or FB the entire game, couldn't hit both simultaneously. His h9 and k9 are also good. I had a few hits die on the track because of them
His control was what I was worried about. On the 4seam it wasn't an issue for me, especially once I got his confidence up in the third he located it really well considering the game state and compared to other pitchers. His change was also fairly easy to locate. The curve was impossible to hit your spots with though, I gave up throwing it after the 3rd and basically just used the slider in its place since they both have similar movement. I didn't use the 2seam.
His delivery is so-so imo, not bad, but not glitchy either. The only other thing that caught my eye was stamina. My opponent threw 110 pitches with him and was still good on energy, I only used 80 in 7 innings and he had over half his bar when I pulled him. With the way it's setup this year, I think his crazy stamina gives you a legitimate opportunity to abuse the system and throw him often if you manage it well which could be a big advantage. It's really hard for me to compare him having only seen an inning of Kluber this year and having not used the others, but after that game I'm happy with my pick. He's not broken like Kershaw was last year or anything (granted with the current meta it's hard for any pitcher to dominate), but he's a very good pitcher and checks all the boxes for me -
Appreciate the responses! Leaning towards Kluber or McCovey
-
I went Hal over Kluber just cuz I suck with Kluber's LS card.. ill get Kluber next time around tho

I’d recommend kluber and get FotF Olson. He’s a GOON
-
Kluber's slurve is pretty nasty vs both LH & RH hitters.
-
To me, Kluber is the obvious choice. By all accounts, he's the Kershaw of this year. End game too early... Probably won't see a starting pitcher that matches him for a couple months
-
I went the unique route and took Rickey first. I also took Kiner first last year so maybe it's a trend for me lol.
-
I was leaning Rollie until they released Gagne. With Gagne in the pen I went with Kluber

Same! Literally to a T!

I've already faced kluber so many times. he will get easier to pick up as the year goes on. TBH I didnt find him that hard to hit. I took rollie. he was one of the best RPs last year and it's the same card. had great success so far with him

Kluber at a higher difficulty is filthy because sinkers and cutters become meta
-
I picked Hal because there are only 3 signature cards to collect compare to other series.

This will drastically change and means nothing literally at all....

oh no...…
however, Hal seems very good card to have anyhow. -
Went ahead and scooped Kluber!
And letting us pick SP this year is pretty much the reason why. He looks nasty and can’t wait to try him later on tonight

I’m so burnt out with showdown lol I need a break from grinding affinities for the FotF players
Idk why I haven’t gone after Olson yet but he may be the last one I pursue
