Pinpoint is not the issue. There’s a pretty good skill gap with pinpoint. Especially since the update making it hard to get perfects. Better players give up less runs because they don’t leave that slider over the heart of the plate every few innings. Bad players do. More of a skill gap that pure analog. Felt like the moonshot event with no control of any pitch
You had trouble with control during the moonshot event? I’ve got commons with sub 2 era thanks to that event lol
Not control issues but just giving up tons of runs in past games because of analog hanging pitches. If you’re good at the game and using pinpoint you should locate. Simple as that. Just because it’s harder for casuals to hit doesn’t mean it’s a huge mistake by sds
seems like you enjoy pinpoint..i see more perfect perfects on pinpoint than pure analog...when pinpoint was supposedly harder so that's why they gave the benefit of most accurate.

Just a thought - the "skill gap" in pitching should be pitch mix and locations to keep hitters off-balance, not the "skill" in repetitively doing a gesture on a thumbstick.

True, but before pinpoint it didn't matter how good you were at keeping hitters off balance or mixing your pitches. 7 out of 10 pitches in MLB 20 would just float down the middle regardless of input

I like pitching. Pitching is what has always been my strongest part of the game. But it hasn’t really been fun ONLY having 2-1 games. Even if I’m dominating on the mound to be honest. Hitting is what will keep this game fun, as much as I hate admitting it haha. I hope it gets better for this community. This game can be extremely fun when it’s working the right way!

I am glad they tried to fix this issue. It was needed. I just think there has to be a middle ground of some sort with it. Guys shouldn’t carve you up only on the basis that they can flip their thumb. It should take more skill to be perfect on the bump.

Another thing I want to add about pinpoint is that everyone says it's so OP, but then only end up complaining about Degrom, Cabrera, etc. sounds to me like the real problem is outlier. Very rarely to you see a pinpoint complaint about Cliff Lee. Pinpoint is fine. Stamina with pinpoint, Outlier, and Sinkers are the problem. Sinkers haven't gotten fixed in 5 years so I've just accepted that one.

This is a great point. And what makes outlier op? Connections and server issues. Even with lag, hitting Cliff Lee is usually not a problem. Connection issues with outlier opponent, might as well quit the game.
Sinkers and stamina are issues too, pinpoint is not the problem.

Thanks man, it went terrible. Think I got to 868 or something than every other game was the warping Degrom fastballs that were impossible to hit unless you sell out 100% (I have seen Degrom 50x so I know what it should look like and what it does when it is messed up), and the sweaty games with 8 total hits and whomever runs into the homer is going to win.....Awful....
I brought it on myself in waiting until 2-3 days to season end to try to cram all the games in....doesn't allow the time to clear the head of the frustration when this stuff happens which is needed to overcome it...

Fair point...Take out the 3-4 meta pitches and you have a fighting chance to overcome pinpoint

For me its only 2 meta pitches (and ones that are fundamentally broken). Outlier was a good idea but even Degrom in real life doesn't throw 102 every single pitch. We all know about sinkers there isn't much more to say about those. Cutters and sliders are good, but they are in a good place IMO. They are still hittable even with pinpoint. I'm just saying it seems like people are using pinpoint as a scapegoat for whats actually wrong with the game, which are sinkers, outlier fastballs, and what makes them hard to hit(P2P connections instead of dedicated servers).
-
If it’s a strike you can hit it hard. So either lay off, get better. Don’t mean to be that guy but it’s true.
The biggest issue that I can’t understand how it hasn’t been fixed yet is stamina. If pitchers actually got tired there would be more benefit to working counts, leading to more hangers later in the game.
Stamina being broke is a bigger deal than just not having to use your pen. I think it’s a big reason why people are struggling.

Pinpoint is freaking joke unrealistic might as well be a military sharp shooting game Dumb!!!
-
Pitching in 19 was good; I used pulse and could locate with great pitchers but also give up a whammy with a guy with less control. Switched to analog in 20 to mitigate the disaster that was the random floater down the pipe (the slider being the worst). But PPP is BOTH great for my pitching and horrendous for my already pathetic hitting. Mix in the sinkers and outliers and boy, good night…

You want to know how I go about tackling RS since you seem to get the laggy warping games too.
First - Tank down to 400. Believe it or not, you will see some warping pitches down here also. Win until you get to about 600 and then drop down again. Rinse and repeat until you get to about 25-30 wins. By this time all the goons (by goons I mean people with magic internet that never have connection issues) will be into the WS going for their 1300 rank.
Once you get to DS you have to find a day/night where the connections are good to make your run. I can usually get to WS anyway but if connections are bad it is a bunch of 3-2, 3-1, 2-1 games. When the connections are good, I usually breeze to WS scoring 5-10 runs a game with usually multiple opponent quits. Much easier and a much more fun game when connections are good.

Funny thing (guess really not) is when you sell out you are early and hit it foul.

Good way to double dip also. Starting at 700 and trying to get 40 wins dealing with warping pitches is not a good time. Trust me, I've tried it. If connections were good almost all the time, I definitely would go that route.

Sucks. Just sucks. I’ve been a huge Show guy for years. I’ll continue playing also because there’s nothing comparable to it. But Pinpoint pitching has ruined this game. I agree, there should’ve been tweaks to pitching and the hanging pitches on good input. But this is too much.
A. It’s not hard at all. So anyone can get it down and hit every spot they want. Not realistic by any means. This coming from a guy that pitched professionally myself. It’s pipe dream haha
B. Saves too much stamina for pitchers. Degrom isn’t going 148. He’s just not. He’s a generational talent no doubt, but cmon.
I’m not superior by any means. But I make WS every year. Go 12-0. And make pushes into the 1100’s. This year hitting is impossible. Timing windows are outta whack, pinpoint is a broken system, and the higher up you play the more toxic those Top 50-150 players get. I’m bummed man. I really have always enjoyed this game. But it’s wearing me out.
Wish there was something we could do as a community. Because I see several posts like this from guys I respect a ton on this forum and this game.
I said this week one of the game release and got flamed. Glad to see others are starting to come around.
Pinpoint is still way too easy even after the “nerf” I honestly don’t even notice a difference. I just pitched 7 innings with Glavine and I think I might have had one pitch that wasn’t perfect input.

I agree 100 percent man……tied into your complaints a lot of guys have resorted to just swinging at every pitch borderline pitch and hoping they foul off the balls out of the zone until they rip a strike for a bomb. Rather than try to guess which pitch is a cutter barely off the plate or a sinker on the black.
Some of the games I’ve played are just ugly with hits out of the zone, bizarre foul offs and so on. I like to have plate discipline and only swing at strikes. I swear some of the pitches they mark as on the corner were about three inches further off the plate then where the marker ends up….
I can’t stand that gameplay has devolved to this point. Guys you play that are subpar hitters concentrate extra hard when pitching to make sure you never get anything over the plate when you are hitting. Hats off….great job pitching, but if the dudes can’t square up a ball over the heart of the plate they don’t deserve to win.
