Don’t overthink it. This is a bad game. The servers are complete trash. You can make all the changes you want on your end, it isn’t gonna matter. With the exception of a few maybe on the coasts.
Servers/connections in this game are really bad and have been for some time. I have wired fiber. I rarely disconnect but I can play a 5 hour session and have an hour's worth of wtf moments. I think I am the king of weak hits against me and non-pci hr's. I think it was Friday night I had 4 non-pci hr's against me in 2 games. Warping pitch speeds are more prevalent now too.
In my experience it gets worse. A lot of the people that deal with this stuff move on to Madden which means the majority of the people left are the ones that don't see this stuff very much. That means more issues for the players that are already seeing them.
Ball has been hand to glove instantly for me on HOF. Yet, certain people can turn on 102 legend like it is slow pitch softball. The advantage certain people have is ridiculous and won't be fixed without server/match making adjustments.
Not gonna lie but I’d take less content and legends for some dedicated servers. Or if they don’t do that, atleast bring back the ping indicator they used to have years ago.. I had crappy internet then but games played more consistently I thought. I’d just back out of the pregame lobby if someone had a red ping. That would help some
There is no way that a sports game is going to enlist dedicated servers. Those servers cost upwards of a 100,000 bucks a day. And that’s just to lease the server. Then you have to pay an outside company to maintain and service those servers. The only reason Call of Duty can use dedicated servers is their games are not on a yearly life cycle. Meaning that each COD iteration has multiple years of relevance. And there subscriber base is approximately 100 times the size of our subscriber base. The end of a COD lifecycle might see a larger base still playing that game 3-4 years after launch. They can afford to shell out 20-30 million a year for dedicated servers.
Thanks for shattering my hopes! But yeah I know I’m dreaming. Lol what does fifa play on? I feel like I hear a lot of people say how fifa plays better online than the show. I imagine though they bring in a lot of money since soccer is big worldwide. I’ll settle for a ping indicator like they used to have for the show years ago. Atleast I can back out if someone is bad. Would help avoid some bad games
In my opinion part of the problem is that the show is so dependent on timing that a somewhat bat connection ruins the game

FIFA is the same type of architecture as TS. It’s P2P matchmaking as well.

What’s frustrating is sometimes it doesn’t matter what your speed is, your ISP might just have bad service. Some people have spectrum/etc. and love it but some people in other areas think it’s the worst. But there might be something you can do about it. What’s your NAT type when you speed test? Test a couple times in a row, maybe even different times during the day. Do you use your ISP’s equipment?
Thanks for all of the input, guys.
My ISP is Service Electric Cable, which has a monopoly in my area.
NAT type is always 2, and I use the Google DNS servers.
I know there is worse (NBA2k).
I guess we just have to wait a few more gaming generations for online play to be reliable.
I think we're still in the infancy-- Atari 2600 style-- of play. -

I just upgraded my internet-- 50/5 download/upload speed, wired connection.
I don't play on a monitor, but it is a brand new tv, and has "game mode".
I was hoping this would improve online play, but I'm still getting disconnects, comical lag plays, and just got kicked out of a game (I was losing anyway, but I never quit).Question: If my opponents internet is lousy, does that make my upgrade pointless?
Are the servers so bad that even a good wired connection doesn't prevent dropped games?
Is a monitor that essential?I think online games should have a disclaimer attached stating that you need the following "video and internet requirements to enjoy online play."
50/5 ? That's terrible internet. Mine is 450 / 25.

My speed is literally 10x yours and I still get lag, slow pitches, flyballs that look like they are floating like a balloon to the wall, baserunners that stop and start again when stealing, etc. It is just garbage for everyone.

It may be low but it is more than sufficient to play a PvP game.

Not sure why you think this matters other than to one up someone else. You really only need 10-20 down and less than 1 up to reliably game. And what makes you think his 50 is worse than your 450. That’s just raw speed. That doesn’t take into account something far more important and that’s latency. If his latency is less than 10ms and yours is 30ms than the person you are shaming actually has a better connection than you do. But I’m guessing you’re just another narcissistic jacka** who feels the need to shame others in order to feel important. That makes you the troll kid.
-
True or false? Ping rules above all when it comes to connection.
Upload/download is less important from what I gather.

lol, if that makes you feel better, ok I guess.
I just thought it was odd that someone "upgraded" to 50/5 - what the hell where they on before.
My 450 / 25 is still WAY TOO SLOW for internet in the modern age where I have at least 15 devices sharing that bandwidth 100% of the day.
Get over yourself. -

You have a dsl i am assuming? Mine 200/10 and haven't had but one freeze off all year. Lag however has to do with lots of things. You can have the best internet ever but still have lag because of where you live in accordance to the hub. It also depends of servers of mlb's end.

Get over yourself.Well being a network engineer for the largest ISP and cable provider in the world (Comcast) you’re wrong. 450 is a normal speed tier in this day and age. In fact it’s the most popular speed tier in this country. And 25 up is actually higher than most providers give. Unless you’re on a fiber connection upstream will always be throttled as a copper infrastructure would need 25-50 upstream channels to make their speeds symmetrical. And I highly doubt that you’re using 15 devices simultaneously 24 hours a day that are all using high bandwidth applications. So please stop exaggerating. I’m a content creator and don’t ever max out my bandwidth and I guarantee you that what I do is far more taxing to my bandwidth allocation than you gaming and streaming. What I said is 100% true that you’re speeds mean nothing if your ping (aka latency) is high especially in the online gaming world. Have a good night.

450 is mid tier in my area. 250 is the low side (cable), 450 is mid tier (still cable) and 1000 is readily available (fiber).
I have 4 smart TVs, 5 phones, 3 tablets, 3 gaming consoles, 3 gaming PCs, my wife's work from home workstation, my work from home workstation, etc... All of them streaming data all [censored] day and night long.450 is still way too slow and i'm going to upgrade to 1000 in the next few months.
BTW, I don't give 2 craps what you do for a living.

And once again my point obviously went over your limited intelligence. Just because a device is connected doesn’t mean it’s utilizing any bandwidth. And yes 450 is mid tier it also happens to be the most popular tier utilized in this country. And working from home doesn’t utilize a ton of bandwidth because most are utilizing a VPN to connect their home workstations to their companies infrastructure so the VPN is handling the bandwidth load not your home connection. And if your 450 is cable (aka copper) then the 1000 you mentioned is also being provided via copper unless your changing ISP’s to get that 1000. ISP’s don’t change the delivery method based on speed but my guess is you wouldn’t actually know that. Comcast offers gig speeds without fiber to the premises (generally fiber to the node in newer areas and copper to the premises). So as much as you’d like to think you know what you’re talking about you really don’t. And anybody who does the work that I do will tell you the exact same thing. Good day bud

Yeah I saw. The minimal requirements to actually play this game is a farce (I think its 25/5 or something along those lines)
Bottom line is you can have all the speed you want, if your connection isn’t stable, its worrtless on this game. I’s rather have 125/25 100% stable than 1000/100 75% stable

Yes sir and having good MER/BER also helps. But that can only be determined with a signal meter.
